@angelxschunard THANK YOU for pointing out the misplacement in her lower register. Her upper register is where she can really place a note, but not when she gets into and below her mix.
Listen at 2:09 -- The "-cob" is placed strangely, so that it sounds almost like a cat screeching. (Still amazing that she can hit that note, but not the best time she does it). But then at 2:16 she corrects her vowels and places it a little further back and thus, it gets that fuller, richer sound.
Wow, I never knew Eden had such a nice head/mix. I mean, I guess I knew because of her crazy high belt, but still, it's nice to actually hear it for once! =)
I just did a couple shows at this theatre. it was fun to see her autograph backstage for this show.the theatre community is so amazing in regards to the networking web we weave. i only wish i had done this show with her. :D
She is great and a true middle voiced mezzo.. the score really wants a low soprano for the role and you can really tell this when we get to Jacob and Sons, but we hardly get to hear one of those.
listen to the dutch version with renee van wegberg! she's the best i've heard in this role!! she's understudy elphaba this year in wicked here to!!! so look it up ;) but eden is good to ;)
@SweeneyStyles I hate when people hear belting and they say the person is shouting, that's kinda what belting is, it's a legitimate vocal technique. And it's amazing.
Ok Eden is obviously fantastic always is. But this production? Yikes! Could be a school show. The brass section should be shot or at least exchanged for actual muscians! Shocking Choreo, sissor steps and sways? Really? No disrepect to any performers at all, but the creatives and producers should have any kind of theatrical licence revoked!! Still, thanks for posting for Eden!
