To those who have noticed, I already reacted to wake up. I didnt realize going into this video, it's been so long and only listend to it that one time I didnt remember a thing as you can tell I thought I never heard it before 😂 I was bound to make this mistake sooner or later.
@@shaydogmcgee1987 end credits is the other song apart from gravity i have listened to before that i forgot to mention in the vid. ill check out the other one though!
Yeah, EDEN is his own writer, producer, recorder and instrumentalist. Also fun fact: the "female" vocals heard in Crash are actually his vocals pitched up. Essentially he sang a duet with himself.
So Wake Up is about him leaving Ireland to go to America but his partner doesn't want him to go and says like "stay, you're not gonna leave me etc" and Eden saying that maybe they can see each other again (fly you out someday) but he's leaving for America to pursue music, which is his dream (chasing dreams...). His partner is living their life on repeat, doing the same things each day. Partying late and waking up later (sleeping through the P.M.... sleepwalking) and Eden doesn't want that anymore. So as he's leaving Eden thinks that he hears his partner saying all these things - (almost thought I heard you say) - though without saying them at all. And the phrase "whoever said you were one in a million" is emphasized but at the end of the song Eden almost thought he heard them say "You're so much better than that." As in, Eden is so much more than one in a million to his partner. But these are all things his partner almost said and so Eden repeats the phrase "you're so much better than that" to himself because he believes that he is so much better than all those unspoken words. That's just my interpretation though.
Ok I have 2 things, What hinted at it being Ireland And 2, Circles to me is the partners version of this song (lifetime in repeat) is the main line in circles that makes me think that
*Crash* it's actually a song to his younger self (hence the "I'm 21 so I'm young and I'm stupid, only 16 yeah I think you should've known"). He is talking about how the decisions he made in the past became his downfall emotionally, even though he is living the dream _he_ dreamt of when he was 16. He is talking to that old self, saying how by everything he did in the past to achieve all this, he "fucked him up". All that makes the high pitch part of the song make so much more sense. Also, at the end he is talking about all the things he realized, about not being lonely anymore, and about changing to be better in the future. Will always be one of my favorites.
@@mystrynane5841 i've just checked it when changed karaoke to -4 settings in realtek hd dispatcher. I was shocked. I always thought that it was a woman
Thank you for giving him another listen! He is dropping a new album Feb. 14th, 2020. I hope you get around to listening to his debut album Vertigo! It does hit you in the feels though.
You just listed 3 of my least favorite Eden songs! Lol Don’t get me wrong, all Eden is good. But it’s strange how different our tastes can be - Yet how much they are the same.
Yeah I’ve always interpreted it about being him talking to himself and saying that he missed his old self and he grew up to be exactly what he dreamed of being (a musician)
EDEN is literally the most talented dude I know, his music is so important to me. Thank you for this video. Also listen to: float End Credits Gravity Interlude AND the 3 new songs of his upcoming album (going to get released 14th Febuary 2020, called "no future") , the songs are called: untitled, projector and love, death, distraction
Please listen to more EDEN! Literally every song of his gives me total goosebumps and joy. I'd recommend listening to Times Like These, Fumes, and Falling in Reverse. Also Gravity is good too!
One of the best parts of wake up is at 11:40 when you can hear "Interlude" in the right earphone and "nocturne" in the left one, both by Eden and released before
My interpretation of Crash is that when EDEN was younger he had a relationship with a girl that just ruined his idea of love and what he actually wanted to do
The story behind Crash is based on him accepting his depression. He was at a gig and saw someone sitting at the side of the stage with their head in their hands and when he went over, it was the musician that he was there to see having a breakdown from all the pressure. It’s what inspired most of Vertigo and Crash is about him trying to avoid crumbling under the pressure.
I’ve seen him live twice, it is the most powerful crowd I’ve ever been in. Everyone had so much love for EDEN and so much love for each other. We cried together, we sang together, and we cried some more lmao. Great fan base to be a part of man.
Forever/over Love not wrong Projector Fumes Gone Lost Illenium leaving Drowning Jupiter Statues Start/end Icarus Wings About time Love death distraction These are all by eden and I really reccomend these. Afcourse there are alot more great songs from him but I just thought of these in like 3 minutes.
@@adminavatar you guys should lookup mitis-illenium-Said the sky mashup on youtube, yall won't regret it. It's on the proximity channel. It's all i got mixed with moments and sound of walking away.
Been listening to eden since he was making songs for the “the eden project” and I’ve loved all of his songs. He’s a very underrated artist and I hope he gets more popular in the future
I get why but I think it's great he forgot. His reaction is still so genuine: Seeing him going on that "space journey" he describes it as, it's awesome. I wish I was able to listen to Wake Up, and EDEN overall, for the first time again :(
Yea he edits them on his own and all the sounds/instruments playing in the back he makes those sounds and he plays all his instruments this guy does everything on his own its amazing and his songs jus put u in a different vibe🥵
I’ve watched these videos every night since my winter break started and I love the reactions you have to his music. U have a good taste in music and I hope to see more eden in the future and plz listen to his new album that’s coming out. Keep up the work man
Crash is about Eden's battle with anxiety. "It's been a few years since you've been gone", a tip of the hat to a dark place that he came from. He used to eat himself up inside because he didn't think he was good enough. "I woke up today and found that you were waiting here for me, and I thought 'old friend, it's bittersweet' ". Anxiety never really leaves, not completely. And if you watch any interview with Eden you'll notice that he's quite reserved, a little nervous. He's a really anxious guy. And he touched on the meaning behind Crash in an interview before, stating that the 'duet' thing he did was just him talking to himself. The high pitch voice being the voice in the back of his head, telling him he's "not who you think you are" and "and silence is better than fake laughs or faking we're always up". This song goes deeper than this but it's TLDR as fuck so.
I started listening to Eden when I started going through depression about 4 years ago - since then I haven't been able to feel any sort of emotion - everything's felt grey, no song has hit my heart the way they used to - I haven't listened to him since - so now listening to him again brings back so many bad memories, but it also reminds me how far I've come - I would always listen to him alone and I've never actually told anyone else about him - so watching you react to him getting all emotional makes me kind of think that you're reminiscing my bad memories with me, and helps me think that I'm not alone
In 'Wake Up', on the second time of Chorus, you can hear another two songs in the back. He sings Interlude with "I tried to dig my way out of the ocean and put a hole in the sky"; and then "So I won't sleep, no more", from the song "Nocturne"
You HAVE to listen to “Man Down” next! I know it will definitely amaze you! Also listen to “And” not a lot of people know that song by him. It’s short but super good. And the last song you need to listen to is “909”. I want to hear what you think about what he’s trying to say. It’s such an amazing song.
Please, please, PLEASE check out San Holo. His album1 is a wholesome journey, I love every song from there so much. If I had to pick 3 though, it would be: 3) show me 2) vestal avenue 1) surface Edit: and yes, he (EDEN) does absolutely everything himself.
It's crazy how much Eden has grown on me. At first when I was watching reactions to him, I was just watching Wake Up, Rock+Roll, and Drugs but now I love almost every song of his save for 1 or 2 I don't care for. Circles and Gravity have grown to be my favorites and I can't pick which one I like more.
If you decide to listen to more eden, I’d really love to see your reaction to End Credits. It was the first EDEN song I ever listened to, it was unbelievably powerful to me and to this day is probably still my favorite song of his.
The female vocals in crash are his vocals tuned up. Also, can you do Crywolf next? I would love to hear Stomach it by Crywolf(which featured Eden) and also Ghost by Crywolf. And if you wanna here some rap, I recommend ATO's new album EP 3 (I would love to hear No.Nu.Messages, Noise.and.Suspension, and Space.to[ATO is a friend of Eden and his first album, Man of the house, was produced by Eden])
Seriously though, I won't rest until I see you listen to all of his songs. They are all so good and the lyrics hit my heart so hard. His music means so much to me. His newest songs are just as amazing too!
Oh dang! I literally just saw your first video. I came into your channel to watch part 2 and you just posted! Crazy! (Subbing!) I have been listening to Eden since The Eden Project. All of his songs are gold. Even his new ones. He did an instagram live with some songs. They are Hertz, Just Saying, and Tides. They are amazing! Do one on those (they are unreleased)!
@@Verzey he also made a 2 songs where it's literally just his voice, no instruments, and it's perfect for lying in bed staring at your ceiling. The song is called Woah. The lyrics are just so emotional! I dont remember the other one!
EDEN is such an amazing artist and it's kinda sad that he's so underrated. Personal favorites of mine are SEX, Gravity, End Credits and Fumes. Please give them a listen too. EDEN's songs doesn't even need a certain mood to vibe with it, it just hits the perfects spots everytime you listen
Eden said if you are ever new to his music, listen to “start//end” it’s also Edens personal favorite song as of last year, other song suggestions are “untitled” and “forever/over” THEY ARE A MUST LISTEN, IM TELLING YOU
Crash is actually him talking to his younger self that dreamed of becoming a famous musician. He wanted to become a famous musician so bad that he put his all into it, just to realize that the fame and fortune didn't bring him what he thought it would be and it just made him depressed.
taken from a comment on reddit: www.reddit.com/r/eden/comments/7karxy/long_my_analysis_of_crash_and_its_music_video/ What Eden says in his interview with Vmagazine when discussing his inspiration for crash is fairly integral to understanding the premise of the song. “Sometimes you can get so caught up in little things or people, like you can value someone, or your friends or something, almost more than yourself,” EDEN says about the song’s inspiration. “And you cannot take care of yourself because you're so conscious of other people or other things. For me, it might have been trying to make this music thing and this album as amazing as it could be, and then if it's amazing or not, that's one thing, but I'm not taking care of myself and it could be amazing and I still don't feel good I'm like, ‘Why, what's going on?’ It's kind of like losing yourself to things like that. I mean balance in your life is so important, and I think the song is really about realizing that, ‘Okay, this isn't right anymore.’ When you're still in that place, you haven't really figured it out, and you're like well, ‘Okay, something needs to be done.’” Reflecting back on his previous commentary in the interview, to put it simply - his intent behind crash appears to be how one’s own anxiety can often be consuming due to an almost-compulsive tendency to perfect their own craft (in Jonathon’s case), he depicts this by personifying his anxiety as a person. Tying it back to his vision for the album (as well as start//end to a degree), to other people this anxiety can often seem marginalized because they don’t feel the same pressure as the individual to be gratified for the effort that they invest into whatever it is that they’re doing. That being said, what’s he exactly saying between the lines in ‘crash’?
One thing I love about Eden is in his most recent album, his music seem to have fantastic transitions into one another, I feel like it conveys the emotions deeper idk but I love eden and his works, super talented and great person.
so there's a theory that in crash Eden actually talks about anxiety, like the war he describes is within himself. It's one of my favorite songs because of this concept.
I'm glad your giving Eden another go, he is just amazing. You could also listen to ATO, he's a friend of Eden and they worked on some songs together :)
Wake Up is actually about him going on tour and leaving his significant other, and wanting them to stop him from leaving. But when they don’t, he feels unwanted and unneeded. “Looking back I almost thought I heard you say, ‘Stay, you’re not gonna leave me, this place is right where you need to be. And why your words gotta mean so much to them, when they mean nothing to me?’”
