I was deeply touched by Hurricane, but October Rain makes me weep like a child. As a Dane I’ve met one Auschwitz survivor and a couple of resistance fighters, which I consider a great honour. I still have a great grandmother who remembers the war, and I’ve been to Theresienstadt twice. 95% of Danish Jews survived the Holocaust, because Danish fishermen risked their lives to smuggle them to neutral Sweden. Fast forward to now, and there’s been armed security outside the synagogue for 10 years. Jewish children are advised not to wear their stars at school. Danish school, where most kids are culturally Christian atheists.

The original ... here with just a piano backing and slightly slower more mournful tempo, is even more powerful than Hurricane Rain. Of course, we would all love to see the hostages (those still alive) brought back home. It is also pretty obvious that this is not something Israel alone controls, and that the poor families are being subjected to psychological extortion over family members that may not even still be alive. Also recall that this entire monstrous event resulted from Yayha Sinwar being released in exchange for the body of 1 dead Israeli many years ago ... and look how many people have died subsequently out of that very very poor decision. Please do be careful not to make the same mistake twice, or place at extra risk the lives of hundreds and thousands serving in the IDF.

I loved the eurovision version so much. But hearing the original lyrics gave the song a whole other dimension. No matter what you think about the ongoing conflict, I think we can all agree that this is powerful stuff.

Touching performance 🌹

It's like when a young woman in her 20s (as a child began playing piano at three years old and is Russian) sits down in front of the piano and for the first time you hear all the emotion that is suppose to be in each note when all the others played it with no soul in the notes. There is no other instrument that can give forth emotion more than the human voice and Israel has a virtuoso in Eden Golan. It is like Karen Carpenter meets Aretha Franklin in the same voice. The depth of sound in each note like the former with "October Rain" and the power in sound of the latter with "Hurricane." Thinking about it she did the right song for Eurovision to use the power of voice like Aretha Franklin, but I always loved Karen Carpenter's depth and so I have to say my vote is "October Rain" is better. Still with "Bang Bang" and "Amazing" I love it when she puts the power out and the almost three notes in one by changing pitch in each note till it almost reminds me of a little bit of Billie Holiday in her sound. She's just the best. Israel is so blessed to have her voice in today's world, but then that is what "Isra" means "The so blessed" and "EL" is "of God's Word" which Jacob got while wrestling.
