I remember when I first started flying the Sukhoi. I would plan my practice for 50 snaps. Only snaps, no maneuvers. 10 level, 10 on 45’s,10 verticals up, 10 vertical down and 10 random. Between each set I would pull power and rest in an orbit. Flight time was 30 minutes.
I’m going to switch up my practice and give this a try. It’s tough because I haven’t really come up with a practice routine, I’ve been kinda winging it. I need to be more structured like you said
Awesome video, anything worth doing is going to take effort and practice for sure. I’m trying to imagine how expensive this hobby must be. I’m working on my PPL right now with $180 an hour rental fee for the plane, which isn’t even bad nationwide. A plane like that Edge was probably 2-300k, so basically a house payment in monthly loan payments, plus insurance. T hangers like that cost over $500 a month at my small nearby grass field, and more like $1000 a month at the more desirable main airport, so I imagine they could be even more at a clearly busy airport in California. At that point the monthly costs just to own the plane are significantly more than my house payment, before even factoring in the cost of annual and maintenance. In fact I feel like the fuel and smoke oil costs must be a mere rounding error to the base cost of ownership unless you’re flying every day. You’re certainly not sipping fuel to do aerobatics but I can’t imagine that the flights are very long either. I have a dream of owning a Pitts S1 and flying aerobatics, but it seems pretty out of reach cost wise. Rich man’s hobby.
Shoot me a message on Instagram. It’s nots far out of reach, I mean it. That being said, the best response I’ve heard to the question “how much does flying aerobatics cost?” Is…. “Everything”. The more money you make, the more money you can throw into it.
Great video, loved the Cub video too. Just curious, were you turning on the smoke system or was that leakage past the check valve? I've had leakage issues with both my Smoke system helper and Smoking airplanes system.
Thanks for the reply! makes sense. I just have been having issues with smoke systems, two different systems, two different airplanes. Love your videos - keep them coming! @@alexandercoats
Hey Alex, been watching your channel for a while. I'm a fellow Christen Eagle guy. I actually didn't realise you're in Hemet! I live in Scotland but of all places went to visit Hemet recently to speak to the Cal Fire guys there (dream job of mine). And just realised that's where you're based! Anyway, could I ask a quick question - what cable do you use to record the cockpit intercom audio? I've been using a cable for cockpit audio before but I don't know if it's a problem with my Hero 9 or what but whenever I speak there are horrific distortions in the recorded audio :( If you could share your set up, or if there's any specific Gopro settings that you use for the external audio, that would be super great to know. And glad to see another video from you, keep it up. You're an inspiration to me as I start to tackle aerobatics to hopefully compete and display one day!
Thank you for the message! Small world. So there are no special settings. I run a hero 10 for all my audio. And the cable is www.nflightcam.com/products/nflightcam-audio-solution-for-gopro-hero5?variant=32734483021871¤cy=USD&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI07bihuOfgwMVnjitBh1nfAAlEAQYASABEgLUSPD_BwE
@@alexandercoats Ah gotcha! Thanks! Yeah I have a similar cable. I suspect it's just my Hero 9 that's screwed up. Will have to replace it I think. Cheers!
Good. I found that had so much information you would read it numerous times and still pick up stuff. Dont think unloading with aileron in is cheating. If you get it to flick in the first place it doesnt un stall the aircraft. Its still flicking. Looks like youre having fun
