Every time I look a this bridge I am reminded of the fiasco the Port Mann bridge across the Fraser in Vancouver was. Nobody considered what happened when snow and ice formed on the cables.melted and fell on the road below. I hope they learned.

It looks like they bolt the end onto the existing structure - in the past it would have been riveted. Those bolts need to be well locked on... time for more Loctite! 😅
@johnbrossack3791
@johnbrossack3791 7 месяцев назад
I was thinking along the same lines. What grade of bolts are they using, I assume for a connection like this the bolts are at least A-490. While the video was early in the erection stage, I did not see any torque guns/devices. Loctite has its place, but in a connection like this, proper bolt torque is more important.
@EngineerLewis
@EngineerLewis 7 месяцев назад
@@johnbrossack3791 Yes that's a good point - 10.9 / A490 bolts are what I would assume are fitted and the lack of torque guns is probably what would have followed this video in real time. Pity as I also would like to see that sometime 👷‍♂
@mattharper588
@mattharper588 4 месяца назад
They could be using LeJeune Tension Control bolts which the end snaps off when the right torque is reached using the impact designed for these bolts or the other method is Tension Control Washers which squirt out a colored gel when the correct torque is reached using a impact

Second time watching this video (good thing I didn't like it a second time :-)) Started a RU-vid Library as a result. This video tells the story of mounting a girder. Powerful! Most are "dramatic" drone flyovers. Not much to see after viewing one or two. I saw another "story" of a concrete pour that I appreciated. Cable pulls seem to be less dramatic, but at least I see work going on. I look forward to everything you do in the future.

I wonder how long it takes that dolly wheel truck to back up to its original spot. It looked risky flying the beam over the far end cable stays. As cable stays are added I am sure the crane and truck have to move further back as well.

@Mike44460
@Mike44460 7 месяцев назад
@michaelanthonyvideos if the airspace isn't restricted and you're not flying over their heads, then they just have to live with it. In addition, here in the United States any method one might use to bring down a drone is big fucking problem from such an incident. The FAA considers drones as "aircraft," and it's a federal offense to interrupt their flight. I've had this discussion at a few car shows.

Very tricky editing... first we saw a huge steel girder about to be attached on the right side (camera view), then we see the girder being attached on the left side, where it was previously already attached, the we get a view where neither side has one attached. Come on, Michael, put the clips in order and stay with the action, then add some narrative so we know what is actually happening! I know, I know... your drone is superb and the quality of the camera views are amazing. But we need more info instead of "Moving Steel Girders". And the music doesn't have to be lullabye genre all the time. Otherwise - excellent work! 👍 😊
@michaelanthonyvideos
@michaelanthonyvideos 7 месяцев назад
Dude, I had to change out the batteries three times. The end clip was to show the distance between the two sides. I thought that this was my channel and that I am the producer and director. No?
@michaelanthonyvideos
@michaelanthonyvideos 7 месяцев назад
Hey Gilbert, I did end up changing the music. Regarding the video stopping just before the girder connection, I got a low battery alert. If I wasn't over the water I could have risked it and the drone could have made a forced landing. I needed enough time to return to my home point, or at least back over land.
@michaelanthonyvideos
@michaelanthonyvideos 7 месяцев назад
Looking back, I used up a lot of battery life on following the truck to the edge of the bridge, but I wanted the viewers to see the whole process. I was more frustrated than anyone about not getting the connection on video but I was too far away to risk it. Where are you Gilbert? We miss your interesting comments.
