Edge of Darkness Soundtrack medley edited by Odd sock

A tribute to one of the great drama & soundtrack combinations. The 1985 BBC production Edge of Darkness starred Bob Peck, Joe Don Baker, and Joanne Whalley. The music score was by Eric Clapton and Michael Kamen. A small degree of hammering was used to make all the tracks fit together. Hope the odd missing bits don't spoil it too much.
Track order :- Obituary/Edge of Darkness/Oxford Circus/Northmoor/Shoot out/Escape from Northmoor/music from end credits.

An entire spectrum of emotions. Sadness at Emma, grief at Craven, humour at Jedburgh, anger at Grogan - Edge of Darkness had it all. One of the BBC's greatest productions.

Thankyou for this. think this was a high point in BBC Drama that has never quite been repeated. I remember watching this on BBC2 whilst working in the garage with my dad on my first car (An Austin Allegro). We were really pleased when the whole series was then repeated on BBC1 almost immediately - the first and I think the last time this has ever happened. At least we got to watch it in the house where it was warm! Amazing story, amazing cast and was filmed 'up north' as well as London...It led to me developing a healthy mis-trust of Government...a very good thing to have especially at the moment!

I can only agree with the main comments - my all time favourite TV drama! Great writing, greta acting, and a terrific score - a tribute to the mastery of Eric and Michael. It's sadly ironic that Bob Peck later died from cancer. The DVD set is definitely worth having in your collection.

Thanks to everyone for your input. Didn't realise just how popular this series was until now. 20k+. Well I'm blowed. Just for the record, having been a musician from '61' - '95' I was lucky enough to cover E of D with one of the bands. Not a patch on the original obviously, but a great track to play. Again, many thanks to you all.

I still have this drama on VHS tape , recorded maybe 1986 . This film was , and still is , a jaw dropping experience . It scares me to think , what terrorists could do with a couple of kilos of plutonium .

This is perhaps the greatest TV drama that ever aired. The cast were brilliant, the music was brilliant, the theme was brilliant, the acting and the story line were brilliant. I have never seen in the many years since anything at all to better it. Bob Peck was superb, but Joe Don Baker even better as Darius Jedburgh. I loved Darius.....he just had a whole different view on life. Plutonium for self respect? Wonderful statement! The film take off could never ever better the series, and was crap! They tried the same with Point Blank, and that was crap as well. It had nothing to do with Mel Gibson, but everything to do with the fact that the originals were just superlative. To better them would take an act of genius.

Still remember that scene, possibly word for word Craven: you made it into a bomb!? Why!? Jedburgh: Well that’s the problem with plutonium Craven, it’s limited in its application. It’s not user friendly but as a vehicle for regaining ones self respect, it’s got a helluva lot going for it. Damn right I made it into a bomb. I watched it a few times.

Watched this when I was 14 - never forget it. Don’t think it’s been bettered, although ‘Chernobyl’ is near equal I think. I loved the music, both the guitar and the orchestration - didn’t realise until recently it was Michael Kamen, whose score for ‘Brazil’ grabbed me in 1985 and never let me go!
