Thank you so much for making it possible to see this. I am trying to organise getting there at the moment as a tourist. My 4 times great grandfather was a sealer and captain of the ship ' Campbell Macquarie' that was shipwrecked there on 10th June 1812. He was there for several months before rescue. I am so pleased to see that nature is taking it back after human decimation. I would love to hear from other descendants of Cape Richard Siddins if they read this. Fingers crossed that I can get there.
Such a great Journey man , Thanks for everything .The way find this video is epic ; i was casually using googlemaps and was looking where is tanzania then wanna check tasmania and then i saw couple little islands around new zeeland then i saw this one" Macquarie Island" man ... i was hooked , i checked every inc of that island coast but it has only couple photo in googlemaps , but i can see it has such a great nature and i can see seals in every corner :) that moment i really want i was there and running around , so i searched for real footage to see that beauty of nature there and i find this journey of your , thanks a lot again Dr. Dean Miller.
I just did my first ever pay to say thanks. 🙏 It's because I absolutely love nature especially animal documentaries. I understand spending your life savings on a single idea. I hope you've done well.
Beautiful photography. I'm watching this on a 65" UHD TV and it is like 4K quality. I would love to make that journey in the Great Southern Ocean to Macquarie Island for a few weeks in summer. I doubt I could survive a year there. Thank you for sharing.
Indeed, words are never enough to appreciate the money, time and energy you have consumed to take us to the edge of nowhere.. you made it our end..you offer a lesson in life...that knowledge is an ongoing target... few persons offer knowledge ... but millions enjoy the same knowledge.....I don't know how many I would keep watching your video.. I would say to the end of life...
Thanks! Oceans by John Butler playing in the background is an incredible song as most of his are. And I love the deliberate takes you put in this Documentary. I watch a huge range of subject of Documentaries like teenagers text on the phone and this one is one of the best.
Hi 👋 Thank you 🙏🏻 so very much for this extraordinary , knowledgeable video . I did enjoyed so much ✊🫂🙏🏻😘 God protect and bless you , take care of yourselves
Mm I know Macquerie is not quite as desolate, but a BAS scientist mate of mine, ages ago, spent 6 mths on an Antarctic base. He said 2 things: the constant wind (and thus the greatest risk is fire) and everyone new there has to watch John Carpenters "The Thing"!!
Good thing they had shelter, every few miles, because walking through that plus the weather, I doubt they'd have much umph to put a tent together and feed themselves
"Most people thought I was crazy for wanting to go to Macquarie Island". Are most of your friends crackheads or did you just make that up because it took little to no effort and sounded cool?
How many fur seal studies does there really need to be? I'm betting it is the scientists who are the real study; see how they cope with cold, remoteness etc for extended periods. The seal study is simply a way to keep them occupied.
really, that's what you have to say? sheeple, so sad. he lived and died a man. he didn't have sanctity until 200 years later, to corral the sheeple and keep them in line. the resurrection and santa claus, it's all the same
