Auto Trim is a great feature but it can cause trouble! I'll explain in this video and share this logic to avoid a mishap! I'm using EdgeTX 2.8.0 in this video.

I have an interesting problem on a delta set up. My aileron trim works in the reverse direction to the aileron stick. How is this even possible? Do you have any idea what I could have done wrong?
@shanesdiy
@shanesdiy 14 дней назад
@@gregevershed6001 if the surface needed to be reversed and you did it in the input the trim would be reverse. Invert channels in the outputs. 2nd choice would be in the mixes under rare circumstances.

After the maiden flight and its all trimmed out , after I land I just delete it and dont have to worry about hitting the instant trim in flight

I only have this on new planes and do the same thing. Still, if you hadn't noticed yet, if I can come up with a way to add more complex code to do simple stuff I'll do it, lol.

I have added auto trim to a global function so it works on any model I select -- I would like to use on of the button switches to arm and disarm it as you did --- If I do this in Logic functions will it work to arm and disarm the global function regardless of which model I am on ---- or does it need to done in each model
@shanesdiy
@shanesdiy 6 месяцев назад
As a global function you wouldn't be able to arm and disarm it like I did here. Global functions won't accept logical switches as a source and there is no "global logical switch". All you can really do it set up the global function for auto trim and go in and manually enable or disable it when you think you want to use it, like on a maiden flight. Otherwise you'll have to do this at the model level.

Thanks that’s kind of what I thought but wasn’t sure. I have been doing just what you described using the enable slide in the Global function Don’t really want to have to do this for each model. Thanks again love your videos on the Radiomaster setups!!

So I’m gonna speak from a past experience. The throttle cut being on the bottom remote switches is a bad idea if u use a lanyard. I accidentally drug my controller on the ground with the lanyard around my neck. It turned off the throttle lock and I was removing the battery from the aircraft. Almost lost my left pinky er put 49 stitches In it. And lost 30% of its function. Your videos are awesome brother keep ‘em coming

Thanks for the safety tip. I do use SH for my throttle cut but I have an added layer of protection that the throttle stick must be down AND SH must be switched to enable the throttle. That way you can't bump the throttle cut switch while the throttle stick is up and immediately start the motor. Multiple layers of safety are highly recommended, another reason I love the TX16S, nearly anything you can imagine is possible. On another note, I believe it was you, posted a video on Facebook showing assigning a safe channel with the "stick down and in and switch flip" method? If so, that was a good demo while watching the Forward Programming screen and seeing the channel change in real time. In all my videos on the subject I hadn't done that, great visual! I might have to steal that one for another short video on my Spektrum -> EdgeTX series! I'll be sure to give you a mention if I do. 😉

@@shanesdiy see I learned another trick!!! Didn’t even know I could do that with the throttle cut! Ima find your video I guess! Thanks man. I’ve actually got a guy that can’t make an ar8360 activate safe with a radiomaster tx16s is why I made that video. He needs more help than what I know.

@@rodgersrcaviation2785 I haven't made a video on my throttle cut. I think I used some tips from RC Video Reviews channel for the method. If your friend needs more assistance maybe we can join forces and figure it out. Has he posted on one of the many Facebook groups we monitor?

Has anyone figured out how to program a switch to reset the trims to center after a flight? Thanks in advance!
@shanesdiy
@shanesdiy 8 месяцев назад
Not sure yet how to link a switch to it, but you can go into the model setup, scroll down to "Trims", enter that and there is a button in there that says "Reset" that will zero all trims when pressed. If I find a way to link a switch or button to it I will let you know. This is on 2.9.+, don't remember where that option is on older firmware.

They should have programed that feature to instant trim/reset trim.

What I see for the first time: you have two lines of text in the header: "Auto Trim - Disarmed". Later in the video, that changes to "Armed". How did you program that?
@shanesdiy

That is done with a cool Widget called "SwitchPRO".

How do I fix the trim it’s reversed on radiomaster slider
@shanesdiy
@shanesdiy Месяц назад
@@ClaudeFrancois-f2t what do you mean the slider trim? Usually if a trim switch is acting in the reverse direction is means you set a negative weight in the inputs, presumably to invert a channel. If you had a channel that was moving the servo backwards you invert that channel in the outputs, not in the inputs. If this wasn't your issue please explain your issue in more detail.
@ClaudeFrancois-f2t
@ClaudeFrancois-f2t Месяц назад
@@shanesdiy yes I guess if I inverted the channel the trim slider would also be reversed Since for me to adjust the trim I have to move the loser on opposite direction to trim the plane
@ClaudeFrancois-f2t
@ClaudeFrancois-f2t Месяц назад
@@shanesdiy if I need to apply down elevator trim on slider I have to move the trim slider up
@shanesdiy
@shanesdiy Месяц назад
@@ClaudeFrancois-f2t Which trim switch are you referring to as "slider"? The trim switches are not sliders. To trim elevator down you would push the trim switch (you are calling a slider?) forward same as the elevator stick to go down. If this is not what yours is doing, look at your inputs. None of your inputs should have a negative weight. They should be +100 or if you have reduced rates, you might have an input at +70 for example. None of our inputs should have a weight value with a negative (-) sign in front.

A long video to just describe what Instant trim is?
@shanesdiy
@shanesdiy Год назад
Hi Bill. This was a requested video and is more than just a description of auto trim. I've added some extra logic and voice responses to help prevent inadvertent triggering. ...or was that a rhetorical question? lol Thanks for the comment. :)
@Poundy
@Poundy Год назад
@@shanesdiy I agree with you, this is an example video that shows some of the power you can bring to EdgeTX with logical switches, special functions, and the hardware you have. Sure, there's a "literal" value to what you showed that will initiate instant trim, but if you use this as inspiration for what else you can do when you combine the many parts that are going on here, it shows much much more !
