To find out more information for the type of roads you will be taking from Edinburgh Musselburgh Driving Test Centre, watch all our videos. Make sure you get to know these routes inside-out during your driving lessons. The more familiar you get with the roads in and around your driving test Centre, the more confident you will be navigating them.
Practice at different times of day and on different days of the week (including weekends) to experience as many different road conditions and traffic flows as possible. Knowing what to expect when you go in for your driving test will make it seem less daunting on the day.
My advice is to watch the videos more than once; to get a really good idea of the roads you will be asked to drive on and where any pitfalls may occur. You will notice many of the Edinburgh Musselburgh driving test routes overlap with each other meaning some of the roads and junctions are included in multiple test routes.
The test routes are subject to change periodically; however, they rarely change completely it is more likely they will slightly alter. Also if there happens to be a road block ahead; due to road works or an accident for example; your examiner may alter the test route in order to save time or in the interest of fairness for this reason the video should be seen purely as a guide. This means you are not guaranteed to stick strictly to the route in the video.

What To Expect On The Day
If your instructor hasn’t gotten around to walking you through what happens on a driving test, we’ll give you a quick rundown.
You’ll get to Driving test centre ten minutes before your test is supposed to start. This will give you time to park the car and meet the examiner. Before you get started on your test, you’ll need to show the examiner your provisional license (so don’t forget it!) and sign a quick form.
Once that’s out of the way, your driving test will consist of:
An eyesight test, where you’ll need to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres
Two “show me, tell me” questions covering vehicle safety and maintenance
Twenty minutes of general driving, where you’ll be guided by the examiner, and will also need to perform one of the following manoeuvres:
Parallel parking
Bay parking
Pulling up on the right
Twenty minutes of independent driving, during which you’ll either follow sat nav directions or sign posts to reach a set destination
