Stunning. Even a tad haunting, in an Edinburgh history way. From Chicago, a warm Scot-American thank you. As I watched and remembered almost all major sites, I was reminded of an Edinburgh pub landlord who graciously declined my offer to give him a grand tour of Chicago on his next visit to the States. Easily he revealed he had never left Scotland and had no plans to do so. Zero interest. Frankly, I was stunned. Seeing my wide-eyed yet respectful surprise, he waved his hand to point outside his windows and said, "Why would anyone ever need to see or be more than this?" I was silenced by his poetry, and by his genuine peace with where he was in life. (He was probably in his early 60s.) One hour or so later I asked to settle my account for the many drams of rare single malt he and I were drinking - from a mysterious black velvet bag hidden under his counter - and he smiled broadly, "Oh, you are my guest. What a pleasure it is to have you here. This is my private stock for family and other friends. It's not for sale. Thank you for sharing your joy in our Edinburgh." It felt as if he included me in the choice of "our." With heartfelt thanks and a manly hug I stumbled out, mostly due to the grateful tears in my eyes. Your video had nearly the same deep impact of that human encounter. I could almost taste the secret unnamed whisky. Thank you. Before the week is over I'll book my next visit to Edinburgh.
Thanks for your kind words. That is an incredible story and it gives me great joy that I was able to take you back to that particular night. It's thrilling that this video has reached individuals like yourself across the globe, and it's even more heart warming when people respond to it the way you have. So thank you for your lovely response and I hope you have a fantastic time on your next trip over to Scotland.
Outstanding video Adam, Edinburgh and surrounding areas at there finest, Beautifully shot and edited, and your choice of music complemented such a lovely film.
I was born 1950 in the City Centre and in lived in the Dumbiedykes in the tenaments. It was a poor area, but it was the best time of my life. We had to leave 1959 as my dad was in the Royal Marines. Unfortunately we never returned, although I visit it as often as I can. My German wife is fascinated by Auld Reeky.

Wow these are amazing, I made a time lapse video of the shore in Leith a while ago, I'd love you to check it out. Bearing in mind I'm only 14 so it obviously is definitely not as good as yours but id love to get into photography and filmmaking - it would be lovely to hear your feedback!
