Yeah but ticket prices were a joke. I remember going to this game four or five or so years ago and it was like a tenner for a ticket. Prices for this game went as high as £50 or £60, which for a club match is insane. The SRU are trying to fleece the fans cos they know how loyal and well supported they are. It’s even worse in the 6N and Autumn Internationals. I’ve just stopped going to watch rugby matches in the past couple years. Football tickets are much more reasonable (usually around £30 for a Rangers game).

@@Demondoink1 I hope someone in Scottish Rugby is reading this. 6N games in Ireland a crazy prices too but the stadiums still fill up. I prefer to watch at home with a nice beaujolais

@@MrRugbylane haha yeah i think i actually prefer to watch rugby on TV anyways, cos you get the analysis etc and you don't have to sit in a freezing cold stadium in February haha. going to a rugby match was more about the experience and the day out, but at the prices they charge nowadays, it just doesn't seem worth it tbh. at least Ireland can win things though :P

Saffas really can’t be using excuses for their poor crowds , Here is BT Murrayfield which holds 67,000 people which seems fairl full for a local Scottish derby on a cold December night in a country mind you. That has a minuscule population compared to South Africa

There are other considerations at play. South Africa is a country on the verge of collapse. Many of those who belonged to the traditional support base of SA rugby have long since fled the country.

“Poor crowds”? The Stormers v Bulls and Sharks v Lions derbies drew 30k and 25k last week, respectively. The two South African derbies today have comparable figures. This is just another pitiful attempt at maligning South African rugby. And it’s weak as piss.

@@DavyBrando it is improving in the last month I will admit gladly but at the begging of The Champions Cup and This seasons URC it was Woeful . Against Non SA Teams the attendances are awful . As an Irish Fan I was Underwhelmed with the Turn Out when London Irish and Lyon went over to play . Your Refrences to the Derbies .. if Leinster Vs Munster Pulled Less than 14-10k Fans that’s a Red Alert for The IRFU . The Aviva Stadium (58k capacity ) was Packed to the Brim for a URC Pool Game Between Munster and Leinster B4 Halloween

@@fearmorpiercemacmaghnais7186 I don’t see you having a go at the English, when exactly zero of the Premiership teams broke 10k attendances in the Champions Cup. Or some of the French clubs that failed to do so as well. But all i’ve seen is people like yourself criticising South African clubs, even in instances where they drew 13k (Sharks v Bordeaux), etc. These are brand new teams for us, many of whom we’ve never even heard of before. It would be crazy to think that South Africans will flock in droves to see some random European club they’ve never heard of. Look at the attendances from last season: 4/7 of the top attended games were in South Africa so miss us with this stealth criticism of South African rugby. We all know you just don’t like our teams - just say that in the first place.

@@DavyBrando As a Leinster fan I think the criticism of South African fans for their match attendance is a bit unfair. The stadiums are huge and the Champions Cup is a brand new competition against unfamiliar teams. It is reasonable to assume it will take a few years for familiarity to breed rivalries and knowledge of opposing teams and their players. The South African franchises have enriched the URC to the point where it is now probably one of the best leagues in the world and there is now good rivalries between South African and their northern counterparts particularly the Irish teams, and that only took a year. The Champions Cup is the best club competition in the world but is far from faultless. It only really comes to life in the knockout stages after the no-hopers are jettisoned. The qualifying rounds need to be restructured to the original format as it is too complicated now.

Great game, so good to Glasgow stepping up. Edinburgh appear to have lost the extra spark they had, surely it is not all down to missing Darsie Graham. Mike Blair is out of his honeymoon period at Edinburgh, as with any coach or manager anywhere, it is how you motivate the team to give that bit extra. We see this with all coaches once everyone starts to become complacent. What can he do? Ask Alex Ferguson, Gregor Townsend, ........ for ideas, suggestions, comments. Disrupt the complacency, remove all the little perks, no free teas and coffees etc. Change the dressing room, when they underperform. Each player is given marks by everyone of the coaching team and the player himself ranks his performance. How has Leon Cullen achieved this at Leinster, he appears to have done a phenomial job. It is not just down to the players, the coaches and managers make a huge difference. If Mike isn't careful this slide will become endemic, look at what happened to Glasgow last year. I believe he can sort it. I am rooting hard for him and Edinburgh.

Built a new stadium that opened last year, it sits right next to Murrayfield and is sold out most weeks - The Dam Health Arena. They only play at Murrayfield for games with high demand (vs Glasgow and some European games).

Usually for games against Glasgow or some specific fixtures it moves to the bigger stadium. Probably would of been filled more but there were huge floods on the roads and some other transport routes which is why I couldn't go to it last night.

Mike Blair’s job must be in trouble. I struggle to see how they have improved under his leadership. Edinburgh, at least on paper, have one of the strongest squads in the league (imo a decent bit better than Edinburgh) but don’t fulfil this potential. The likes of VDM, Graham, Ritchie etc are some of Scotland’s best players, where as Glasgow have lost all of their top talent over the years- Russell, Hogg, J Gray etc. Good win for Glasgow and some great tries, but Edinburgh should be doing much better.
