1st song of 15 one hell of a show opener

Nightwish Ladies and Gentlemen !!! They have opened the Valhalla gates , and now the Valkyrie Goddess walks among us 🤘🤩🤘!!! This is one of three great openings from them ("Dark Chest Of Wonders", "Shudder Before The Beautiful" and now "Music" intro followed by "Noise" ). At this point Floor had been with Nightwish for 10 months. Most European fans had not seen her yet with Nightwish. And Wacken was the biggest concert for Nightwish (at that time), they were the headliner, the last performer right after Alice Cooper. Nightwish ended the concert around midnight. I'm sure the word was out about Floor beeing perfect for Nightwish. There were/are lots of fan recorded videos on YT from the early Nightwish with Floor concerts starting from the beginning of October 2012 when Floor joined Nightwish. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

The Unveiling of Floor to the masses, alot of people in that 82 k knew her from After Forever/Revamp but the majority probably didnt know her .....they knew her by the end of the show .

And majority of the audience of this show probably had already bought their tickets while Anette was still the lead singer. I would assume they were not disappointed by the change of the singer.

Great reaction! Floor's introduction to Nightwish's huge European fan base. She had really only performed with Nightwish in North and South America before this except for a few small shows. Many in the audience were familiar with Floor from her After Forever and Revamp days and were anxiously waiting to see how she and the band would sound together. Obviously came out and grabbed the audience in the palm of her hand and never let go!

They indeed go up one note in the last chorus. Not a common move but a well known method to produce a sense of "elevation" in the listener.

Ive only got one thing to say: Best. Concert. Opener. EVER. Edit: Bro, good ear -- because it is a half-step up from the key of the rest of the song! And many bands and composers do this to bring a sense of urgency and speed to a song, even if the tempo actually does not change. Another song that I love to listen to is The Coward's Way by Unleash the Archers, for the exact same reason: In the final of the chorus, Brittney Slayes' vocals go up a half-step, while other aspects of the song don't change. Glad to see somebody besides me noticed that key change!

All the things that you praise Nightwish for were established long before 2013 in a different era. This very song "Dark Chest of Wonders" was from the 2004 album "Once" So that sound was defined close to a decade before Floor Jansen joined the band and before this Wacken performance was recorded. I recommend you actually watch/listen to the original artists performing songs to see who originated the "Nightwish sound"

Really nice job dude, and a good ear too! Yes, this show was an amazing, iconic experience. Singularly, and also in the larger context of Wacken - which is not to be under-appreciated. That year was chock-full of greatness, as usual, and NW closed the festival with a ginormous exclamation point to rival the giant flaming skull..! I've seen a ton of shows over decades and have now done WOA 9 times. The '13 Nighwish show is easily one of my top 5. EVER. Keep it up, and enjoy! Cheers rl 🤘👹🤘

Great balanced song Thank you. The background viocals having the lyrics there was good. Same happened on Ghost love score the audiance was singing along to the background vocals while Floor was singing the main vocals.

That 'small moment for Marco' is, I think, tympani (on the orchestral track) playing the same notes as Marco... Every bass player, EVER, wishes they could get that impact out of their amp on stage. But there is something about a 33 inch resonator that can't be reproduced by a single string. (lol, I was around a custom made, 30 inch Cerqn-Vega speaker we had at Rodgers Organ, bitd .... It was a prototype, and it was kinda under-powered (small magnet/voice-coil) but it could make the lowest (12 Hz) organ notes rumble like that... large resonating surfaces are incredible, but tough to control in a speaker)

"Empty Hope" is another really good song by Nightwish that I highly recommend. It's not as orchestral as most Nightwish music, but Floor demonstrates even more vocal mastery. Pay attention to the chorus when Marko switches to singing the higher notes and Floor does the 'stereotypical metal growling'. Great comment man,about the right amount of styles,like opera or belting they put in and especially,i think,Floor is to thank for that "dosage" for me Floorhas the right feeling , to take the right amount of styles/colours into one song to keep it exiting or surprising. Nightwish is amazing no matter how you hear it, but you can get a bit more out of it if you listen to the original (studio) version as well as the live concert version. Floor is incredible, yes, but the live experience drowns out a lot of Tuomas' orchestration... like that last chorus. They didn't just raise the pitch of it, but added some neat backing lines to it too... but you can barely hear them in the live versions. Same with Ghost Love Score; you can pick up a lot more of what's going on in the background from the studio versions.
