Panthers were in the same situation last year. They came back this year, and so will the Oilers. Just making the finals was great for the Oilers. Need a playoff goalie for sure. Skinner is a good backup.
Funny enough, manny people argued the cats did not deserve the first win. But if you take a look at how the series has played out up to now, it's pretty clear that even in the first game the Oilers have fallen victim to the cats strength: They cozy the Oilers along, and then brutally capitalize on their mistakes in an instant. They do not need to outshoot the Oilers. They have better defense, better goaltending and better transition game. Looking exclusively on the "deserved to win meter" on moneypuck, is to misunderstand the dynamics of this series, as this metric does not take defensive play into account at all

I’d start Picks, and my top 2 lines would be 93-97-55 & 71-29-18. (Maybe even flip 71 and 93) Need something different cause they look so meh right now. Doesn’t help that Broberg is our 3rd to 2nd best D man right now. Wish we had 2022 Mike Smith in net, cause he’d turn it over but he’d probably make the save. 🤷♂️ 😭 🔫. Need a goalie who can rob us a game.
I’m done backing Skinner for every good moment he’s had 2 or 3 bad moments we are in the cup final with a goalie that has a sub 900 save percentage let that sink in, Skinner hasn’t made one key save this round and I think he’s plus 3 goals save below expected now, that turnover in the second lost us the game the Oil had all the momentum just sucked the life out of the team. The score could have been much worse but the panthers missed the next in 50% of their grade chances. Done with Skinner not winning a cup with him between the pipes
Sure, with a Goalie like Bob, the series would be much more close. But tbf, the Oilers had plenty of luck in the entry draft lottery in the previous years: This is the only reason why they have players like Draisaitl and McDavid on their team. Other teams opted for a top tier goalie in the entry draft, or traded their draft picks to this end. As the Oilers did not draft a top tier goalie, but preferred to have "big weapons" on their team, it's no coincidence but their own decisionmaking which brought about the current goaltending misery.

Well, my Oilers in 6 comment is currently aging like milk 🥛😅, but I will say, I was very entertained by this game. It was the Oilers’ best game in the series yet. Let’s all enjoy the ride folks. We play to the buzzer, and in actual fact, it ain’t over. For game 4, I would split Leon and McDavid, and I’d put Pickard in net. Feels like the Panthers 🐆 have Skinner’s number. No surrender, my friends 🫡 💪

For the love of god INJECT SAM GAGNE! guy has never played an game in the playoffs for the Oilers and now to have a chance to play for them in the finals and spark some MUCH NEEDED ENERGY would be beyond foolish to not inject him being down 3 - 0 anyways. This is the worst final I can remember. The Oilers have been a no show, and the Panthers have just kicked their asses in every part of the game. Its over.

bring in Sam Gagner, Philip Kemp, sit nurse and ceci why is there never anyone at center point in front of the goalie to accept the pass to shoot it on net. throwing to side or back to blue line is so predictable and easy to defend against . 3 crappy goals -one bad mistake by nurse, one mistake by bouchard, one skinner leaving the crease. oilers could have potentially won this game. Panthers passing going in the MIDDLE..While Oilers pushed to the outside.. put someone other than Draisaitl on face off's . love drai but he sucks every face off, looses possession of the puck 99.6%, Drai needs to be at point in front of net for incoming passes to score

The Oilers made mistakes and every mistake they made, Panthers scored. Yes Skinner shouldn't have misplayed the put but Hollaway never should have let tarasenko go all by himself to the front of the net when you PASS Kulak and there is no defensive help. Bouchard makes a terrible play and Ekholm doesn't tie up Reinhart and Nurse made a TERRIBLE play to try and give Broberg the puck by the boards which I have NO idea why you would do that with three panthers around you and not just getting it out. The breakaway goal I didn't see what happened there so not going to comment on that. Like I said, 3 to 4 mistakes, all goals. Can make mistakes like that and expect to win still. I don't know why everyone hates on Skinner. He made some GREAT saves to keep the Oilers down, the misplayed goal was partially his fault and maybe he should have stopped a breakaway but he is NOT the problem. Oilers goals were not from mistakes but from hard work by the Oilers so nice to see them battle until the end. I would like to see a reverse sweep now please. GO OILERS GO.
Let's get real about this. The boys aren't going to win the cup this year. Too many mistakes and a hot goalie and running out out of gas are the 3 things that killed us in this series .
Panthers first line played oilers 4th line, need to stay out of the penalty box. McDavid and snipers need to score, maybe change the goalie? lots of improvement needed for sure. Defense isn't good enough.
Game 1 is the only game oilers looked like the dominant team. They got wolloped one sidedly in game 2. They looked competative in game 3 but they did not looked better than florida. Brobergs goal was a super fluke. A missed shot goes off Mikkolas elbow or bicep while he is guarding someone else. Talk about 1 in a million shot that would have missed or been blocked every other time. Oilies best goal was Ryan Mcleod deflection of kulaks shot. But after looking at Bennets reaction you could tell that was his man on that play and screwed up. Florida is just built to beat teams up. They are a Defence first, suffocate the opponent team.

The better all round team shutting down the big guns again which includes Bouchard nowadays, 4 assists between him, McDavid, & Draisaitl in 3 games. Not enough secondary scoring as usual, showing the classic mediocre defense and goaltending like previous years. Definitely surprised they made it here, congrats on that I suppose.
Said a long time ago and many others did too, it's basically the same team, still not good enough to win it all. And after like a decade gotta wonder if someone on the team will even want to stick around any longer or possibly a big trade for whatever reason... unless they miraculously come back and win. 🙃🙃
Not probable but possible to win the next 4. The brain lapses in the second period cost the game. I would put Picard and Gagner in as a shake up. Need the third period effort from puck drop to the final whistle. Power play is too predictable. 97 to 29 while the goalie waits for the one timer. Been behind this team since 1980 and still holding the faith.
@@SirVTropic it’s out of frustration as an oilers fan and seeing him as the weakest link on the team does play a huge roll on all outcomes of the game playoffs and regular season. Check the oilers defence stats they’re pretty dam good if you compare them to all top teams we lack a net minder simple and plain.

Hi there from Germany, where today the European championship of football will start 😮. Tonight I felt very sad because of two things. First thing that the sunny Boyz deadly injured players did have a miracle healing and playing better than before! The discussion of a suspension for both of our player was the most disgusting fake I ve ever seen and should have been punished by our team, what they didn't do. Second, same mistakes as we see all that serious, offense is for show, defense wins championships!!! The skinner moment changes that game against the oilers, Buch is only looking forward with so much intense that he made also faults on the blue line and Nurse, I have no words. We were out coached for the third time, especially on Powerplay, perfect closing the Draisaitl side, Hyman never existing, also Nugent Hopkins. Perfect blocking the slapshots too! No new options trained, no inspiration seen in the 5:5 too! It looks like an amateur team is playing against a pro team. And Bobrovski surely is two levels better than our goalies too. That's it! You have to do your job Mr. Knoblauch, your opponent knows everything from the oilers, and our players I don't know. It isn't over, till it's over, but my faith is simply rushed away . The difference is huge, not only a moment of time. And we are not able to learn something from the game before. No trust in our lines, no change of usual plays because they are well known from the opponent. Plan B it is called dear staff! Broberg is for me the only player who impressed me. Was really good in defense and impressing in offense too. Good man for the future, first line not existent, Draisaitl alone and mostly in personal battles standing, third row impressing me at Powerplay killing, fourth I don't know. That's not a champions team in all positions from staff to third goalie and the difference is huge!!! There has to be some changes in the future. Yesterday I was also in Mike's live chat with a great number of other oilers fans. After the 4:1 we were insulted and vilified in an unpleasant way, which really upset me. There was a lot of malice and sometimes pure hate. It may have been because of the poor quality of the drugs, but that really isn't necessary. It's a game, no more, no less... I agree it seems weird that Barkov all of a sudden was able to play the entirety of game 3, as he looked pretty severely injured in game 2. But as I already argued, he likely left due to concussion protocol. What I do not get is why you are sugarcoating the brutality of Draisaitls hit: He jumped in the air, left the ice, to be able to hit Berkov at the head. Remember that Barkov arguably was the most important panther on the ice and remember that Barkov has history of head injuries. To me, it's pretty clear that Draisaitl intentionally attempted to take Barkov out of this series with his cheap shot. Be that as it may: We both might be right. Maybe it was a dirty move from Draisaitl AND Barkov tried to take advantage of it.
I can live with that, but also you said nothing to the real bad knee check, impressing. This was really brutal and I think 5 cm lower the career of the offensive guy was over. But we both have arguments for our opinions. So cheers!

Have to stick with skinner. Pichard wont even be with the oilers next year. Plus he’s not an NHL goalie. He’s proven that. They have to get a #1 guy which won’t be easy, to do that they have to dump a lot of salary, and that also won’t be easy.
