The Oilers Fanatic goes over all the latest in Oil Country!! #Oilers #EdmontonOilers #LetsGoOilers #adamhenrique #mattiasjanmark #troystecher #evanderkane #codyceci #jeffskinner #nhlfreeagency #freeagency #freeagentfrenzy
this feels like one of the biggest free agency opening day we have had seen as Oilers fans in quite a few years. Im happy to bring along another Skinner, and Victor Arvidsson. Janmark and Brown are really good at killing penalties when they are together so im glad they were able to keep them on the Oilers. I thought Henrique was surely gone, it was a big shock to me when they resigned him. With the amount of free agents they signed it is also shocking that they never added a clear bad signing. Im really excited for this ucoming season to see what Arvidsson and Skinner can do
Drai will finally have 2 good wingers and him and Connor can play on there own lines for a whole game. The third line is cemented with brown janmark and henrique. Just the 4th line. I wonder who is gonna be gone
@@ohyeah1915 im still not completely sold on brown janmark and henrique 3rd line, the oilers bottom 6 can still go through some changes, even something might change about the 2nd line.
Wow, this is awesome news! We definitely have to be over the cap now though, I would figure that someone has to come off the books in order to sign Broberg and Holloway.
Man I’m sooooo stoked that that Henrique signed with the Oilers!!! He was contributing as soon as he came to the club!! Huge goals in the playoffs as well!!
Ekholm helped bring him in for sure. I like NSH formula too: great goaltending, tough D, gritty forwards. Oilers like to slap 'em around though, sorry Stammer.
Got to admit making it to the finals has definitely opened doors! Henrique, Jeff Skinner and Arvidsson should definitely add great depth. Sorry to see Foegle go but skinner can’t be anything but an upgrade as long as he stays healthy. And Janmark is solid as well.
Hopeful for a ceci trade to try and upgrade that RHD Spot. Unless they're confident broberg can play top six minutes on his off wing, although not ideal. Not sure who they would find to upgrade, but hopeful! Its been a great first free agency day, Bravo, Jeff Jackson!
Looks like trades coming up. Ceci for sure, as money out in exchange for a pick, since they got Stecher as a 7d and Kemp coming up. Kulak is paid less and is a good playoff performer (except for that last goal!). Maybe McLeod out for a pick too, which would make them the oldest in the league for sure. They need Kane, hope he can find his form of 2 yrs ago. They lack toughness on top of that, so Sam Carrick instead of Perry woulda suited me fine. Perry's experience is great, but it has to make a noticeable difference on the ice. And, the top two left D look like Ekholm and Broberg, so...If they're stuck with a 9.25m 3rd D, he HAS to take on the role of enforcer as well.
These signings have been spectacular in so many respects. It should also be mentioned that Corey Perry has agreed to a one year deal for a shade over one million and that Draisaitl would definitely prefer to remain in Edmonton over a long term contract. And, on one final note, many fans may be wondering how current acting GM Jackson has been able to lure so many high quality players to join the Edmonton Oilers where oddly enough, money wasn't the major issue for the incoming players. So, here are just a few examples although it may vary between different players: a) Arvidsson in particular has stated that he likes the winter climate and he has close relations with Ekholm. b) The Oilers have a good track record with reclamation projects. c) The belief system that they can win is especially significant with this team. d) This Oilers team has remarkable depth. e) The coaching staff encourages positive relationships and are very receptive to the needs of every player. f) Who wouldn't want to play with superstars such as McDavid and Draisaitl? Besides, the very close bond that these players have for each other are second to none. g) Each and every player on this Oilers squad all truly know that they not only have the talent but are also more than capable of winning the Stanley Cup in 2025 and every player wants to be a winner more than anything else. So, what's not to love with this slightly retooled (for the better) and fantastic team?
I am watching the Oilers Fanatic and Sens Talk. Fan of Edmonton Oilers and Ottawa Senators. Fan of Canadian🇨🇦 cities starting with vowels. Go Oilers Go. Go Senators Go.
Spoke to a hardcore Sabres fan, Skinner is a good finisher but is terrible on defense, part of the reason why he was bought out. Hopefully he can learn, he will have to.
@user-yo1en9fw6y Yeah, he did have seasons in Buffalo where he put up good numbers, last season wasn't great but it wasn't horrible. He'll probably do well offensively in Edmonton, the price is right.
The Oilers are not "running out of cap space", they're already way over the cap (by $2.454 Million), and the team still need to sign Broberg and Holloway (and to a lesser importance, Lavoie). Most likely they will assign a large contract onto LTIR. It could be Kane, or Nurse, but hopefully not Draisaitl. Alternatively you can speculate away about possible trades, but they've got to know that no other teams are likely do do them any favours.
Great day for the oil BUT with their contracts, they’re two over the 23 limit of roster players they’re allowed…. So either they’re planning on moving a couple of guys OR they’re expecting LTIR OR they’re going to send guys down during the year (and likely guys who have a high chance of getting picked up)
As a huge oilers fan, Wow what a day of signings! I wanted to keep Henrique, Janmark, and Brown!!! What a great feeling!!! After going to the Stanley cup finals! I'm so happy they kept almost all the same roster from the finals and late in the season and playoffs!!!! and also signed Arvidsson and Jeff Skinner Wow what a great day since the finals! LETS GO OILERS!!!!!
Actually, the Oilers do NOT have a "big logjam on defense". Connor Carrick is on the AHL roster, and after Broberg is signed, Stetcher is the 8th D. Both Stetcher and Brown can be sent down with their entire cap hits freed up if necessary.
Too many over 30 players We will see in April Not going to be pretty Running out of gas ⛽️ again, oilers can’t sign players more than 1-2 year deals , thus no free agents sign there, everyone has to be a Stanley Cup discount 💰 so McDavid and Drai and Nurse can take all the 💰 Can’t wait to hear the complaints come January Go Nashville , where players sign and want to play for no discounts 😅
So important to sign Holloway and Broberg but with only $1.3 million left there will have to be movement elsewhere. Truly wonder what Kane's fate will be.
Looks like trades coming up. Ceci for sure, as money out for a pick, since they got Stecher as a 7d and Kemp coming up. Maybe McLeod too, which would make them the oldest in the league for sure. They need Kane.
@@stephenphillips6245 I like Ceci, but if money has to be moved, his pending UFA 3.25m is on the trade block. That's the cold business side of it. They're over the cap and still have Broberg and Holloway to sign. Pls, someone with more cap management knowledge, what pieces still may be on the move?
I never liked Jeff Skinner as a player and I think you are going to end up losing Holloway into the bottom 6 now instead of playing with Leon and Victor. I know we want to win it all but I just think Holloway on the second line would have been better than Skinner. Also it does Sound like Kane is going to LTIR, Are we going to be the Vegas Golden Knights next year for the playoffs and Kane is going to be ready? Lol
So the oilers opt to go smaller with Skinner and Arvidsson and lose toughness with Fogele and Desharnais gone and possibly no Kane, they will be deadly on the rush but hopeless grinding it out along the boards, not good come playoffs. Smaller players can’t take the punishment in playoffs as we all know!!!!
It’s too bad we signed Nurse to that dumpster fire of a contract, that is Broberg’s spot! Nurse for a decent RHD would be perfect, but no one wants that contract…
I am super happy for al this good deals whit al this amazing forwards but what is edmonton oilers thinking of when it comes to The defence???? Players like troy stecher and brown this players are not any Stanley cup contenders defensmen not in my yease and I dont think its in somewhere elses yeas eighter llloolll for god sake we have to trade in atlest 1 more of Ekholms caliber this jokes stecher and brown are not making anybody happy llolll
Getting that wrist cut was a freak accident that happens what, once a decade pre+reg+post season among 30+ teams, if not less frequently? He took it for the whole league.
I just dont understand why edmonton was letting desharnais go to vancouver such a unbelivebel stupid deal to bring in troy useles stecher and brown insted for be kepping vinny unbelivebel stupid move llloollll
Putting Kane on ltir I believe is answer to cap constraints and we don’t have to do anything all summer or until the season starts!…I sure do not want to lose Kane at all!
I like it, but Holloway should definitely be playing top 9 minutes, I’d prefer him on that 2nd line but then probably Skinner gets moved down to 4th line because you don’t want to break up that 3rd line.
Bull….kane was great in the games he played in the playoffs…you don’t know what you are talking about…if Kane had played in that last game we might have had a different outcome!
Oilers current lines right now if Holloway and broberg resign would be as follows Nuge McDavid Hyman Skinner drai arvidson Janmark Henrique brown Holloway McLeod Kane Ekholm bouch Nurse broberg Kulak ceci/stetcher/carrick/josh brown Skinner Picard Delia Absolutely nuts roster right there.
Buffalo fan here. $3 million is about right for 1 year of Skinner. Henrique probably worth more. Brind'Amour in Carolina called Skinner "fundamentally un-coachable." Frustrating player - likes to skate and shoot. will look like a star if he plays with top line. Will disappear if he's not. Will not play defense to save his life.
Janmark is the man! Dollar for dollar our best player. Sign Broberg to lock down another one of our Swede Brothers. Oilers going to blow up even more in Sweden.
That surprised me too. I'd much rather have Carrick. Can't deny the value of Perry's experience, but it has to show up noticeably on the ice. Meanwhile, they need a bit more toughness, which Carrick sure had.
Wow! Initially I was nervous not having a GM! No need for that feeling! What a day! Henrique, Brown and Janmark signed for our third line, what does our fourth line look like? Perry, McLeod, Ryan? What about Holloway? We need to make some trades for picks. Ceci, McLeod, Kulak? I think we have to move Kulak and Ceci. With today we have 8 dmen and 14 forwards. Not a fan of the Perry signing and at that money and sucks that we couldn’t keep Vinny. Kane also has to be traded or go on LTIR.
@@許志權-e1v I totally agree and don’t want him to leave. The team has made some incredible signings kings but now they are over the cap with Broberg and Holloway still to be signed for probably another 2.2 or 2.4 combined putting us 5 million over. Ceci for sure would have to go and I would be okay with Mc!eod leaving also to get us back under the cap but they’ll need more room than that for the trade deadline.
