Rest in peace to the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Such a beautiful song. What a tragedy, November 10, 1975 will always be remembered.

@@jaylenyoung2632 Sure was. The Big Fitz was built in 1958, and her sister ship thr Arther B. Homer was built in 1960. The Arther B. Homer was on Lake Erie in 1986 when she recieved word to sail her to the scrapyard.

The reason why the Edmond Fitzgerald sank was because she was overloaded, the captain figured the bigger the payload the bigger the payday. If you listen to the song it tells you straight out that the captain was to blame. He cost not only his crew their lives but his own life aswell.

I agree with you 100%. She was way too overloaded you don't want to mess around with them Northern gales especially on a heavy ship

Hate this song with a passion. Inaccurate in its account and just a terrible song.

Because when it was written no one still knew what happened. It was updated after more information was found out.

6000 wrecks and 30,000 dead...the Fitz wasn't the only ship lost with all hands.Few understand the great lakes has been the highway for Iron foundaries of America from the civil war to the desert wars and the lives lost to get the job done.
