Never have I seen this method, but looks like it works.

I use this technique with my BRM C2 and Slingshot UFO and it's probably the only way to self land safely and consistently with strutless kites.

I think a sand bag is a little safer... but... good to know, just in case i Need it.

nice, can you do a self launch in strong wind (without it being a hot launch)? Is there a similar "soft" technique?

No way….seems like an incident waiting to happen. I prefer to land and pull the kite over facing the wind

It was all fun and games until I tried to do it with a cucumber jammed up muh poop-chute... Not as easy as it looks
