Same thing here, but to be honest, i think it's possible, he did nothing but playing safe with his team, doing off angles, getting some places that others characters can't... Different of others players he really did a content that we can reply in our gameplays

I love it. It makes more and more sense when you think about it. Eliminating the enemy over and over is the only consistent thing that wins games. Healing just makes the fight last longer.
As Tracer, you should keep these in your mind: (The mindset of a tracer player) 1) Your main objective is to hard push isolated and/or killable targets in the enemy’s backline with your RECALL to escape "Jail free card" Note: YOU SHOULD TIME YOUR ATTACKS SO THAT RECALL CAN STILL GET YOU BACK TO AN OFF-ANGLE. This is what happens generally when you hard engage with no recall 39:30 2) If there’s no isolated and/or killable targets, pressure whomever is pressuring your team or trying to pressure you. 3) Never, NEVER stop shooting. You can and should always find something to do. (Either point 1 or 2) 4) Blinking predictability 22:58 - "think about your blink as the extension of walking and then it will be easier. if you walk predictably you blink predictably". 5) Blink management 27:23 *6) A lot of players push hard when they see 2 or more enemies in a Zarya ult 29:50, what they don't realize is that THE FIGHT IS OVER, IN OTHER WORDS HIS TEAM IS DEAD. You can still escape as tracer instead of suiciding. Also, he saved his blinks for escaping as opposed to using them recklessly. 7) Blinking around natural cover 44:40 8) Setting up pre-game thinking 46:52 (Watch until 48:15) 9) 51:57 - 52:43, Summarized advice from Awkward Games I recommend watching thoroughly: 1) 23:00 2) Excellent game (Listen thoroughly) 46:49 (Round two hits different) 3) High-level mechanics and good thinking and awareness from Awkward game 55:20 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Watch this JakeOW Coach video of Striker’s Tracer OWL gameplay. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qzOqFvgH_Gs.html
Tracer feels like there's either a monster on the keyboard dominating the game that you can't land a shot on and get one clipped by or she's doing absolutely nothing and you accidentally kill her when she blinks into one of your abilities lol, no in between
Yea tracer is pain, anything that 1 taps you, pocketed cree, hanzo, ashe but you can bait others or go for flank, spawn camp, or play something else if you are getting countered hard. P.s. Pulsing a pharah mid-air is extra points.
@Fultonian Literally, you need to be on crazy apm to do stuff with tracer, act before you think, be next to their head in a second and pray you don't get 1 tapped, single out their players individually to get easier kills. You remember immortality, now you have to deal with suzu along with kiriko too.
Similar with Mcree, pretty meh kit but a good player who’s basically a human aimbot doesn’t need any fancy ability would kill instantly before u can even do anything. Like even speedy and evasive hero’s would be hit and some skillfully melt tanks with the right distance.
For those of you actually looking to improve from watching this video. Take notes on the advice he gives, watch him do It a bit, then go in-game. Play until you feel as though you understand his advice on a deeper level and feel like you're doing it without as much mental effort. Finally come back to the video implement his next bit of advice. Remember you will not see the improvement you want without good enough sleep. To those who found this good luck climbing :3
@@Atlasmoth the matchmaking also got better, he is no longer getting placed against gm's in plat lobbies, he used to not have 100% winrate, now he does
This is BY FAR the best tracer BEGINNER guide on the internet, simply because it shows the fundementals of actually winning on tracer and applies them immediatly in game. Doesn't dive immediatly into details (Blink range, Combos, CD mangment, etc...), as important as they are, they dont win games without the fundementals. Thank you for this. It really helped much
U2GM show it's done correctly, which means the execution is also perfect. Your execution isn't (yet). You're constantly shooting from an off-angle? Fine. You're looking for isolated targets? Even better. But then you mess up your ability timing and die. Because you're not aware that you waste them for movement or you don't know about diagonal blinks. Or you have not enough experience in reading and predicting enemy shots. Or you even ignore the objective / spawn advantages / ult economy and all your cool plays don't matter much. And if you die over and over again, you might even subconsciously abandon the plan ending up playing "safe" which also means you're sitting with your team doing basically nothing. That's why it's worth to look at game macro and micro lessons instead of only relying on U2GM.
@Awkward2 Hey ! I'm the Ana who slept the nanoblade there at 58:55. I had been watching your Ana Unranked to GM before that match and you helped me climb recently from gold to masters with a 60% winrate. Thanks for your educational content !
"take off angle and be annoying" hits different. I played 10 matches as tracer today and only used that tactic. I hated tracer since day one but after today's matches I love her
I was a hard-stuck diamond 4 last season. The system boosts me up to Diamon 3. Then I pick up tracer (used to main 76 and bastion), play off-angle, and pick up the single-out targets, I didn't have a perfect win streak but after like 20 wins and 6 losses, I'm now master 5. Thank you for the 76 and tracer edu videos you're freaking insane man.
No it’s bound to shift and right click by default. I’m pretty sure everyone uses right click though. Tracer only has like 3 things. Shoot, blink, recall.
@@Dankflamio and melee is a very important tool in her kit…so if u want to melee while doing flashy movements u need a keybind for melee that allows u to press it without taking your fingers off (wasd) which are your movements keys..

its hilariously poetic that he starts the whole series dying immediately and then cookin for the rest of the medal ranks. Imagine the roller coaster of emotions running through his first team seeing that
This video explains why all my QP matches this morning had a Tracer on both sides, when a few days ago I hadn't played with/against a Tracer for weeks. Awkward has a lot of EU viewers xD
your unranked to gm is one i actually respect because there's never a moment where you go silent to focus on the game. you're playing the game but focused on TEACHING which is what these unranked's are for! i learn so much from these videos, also with how quickly your mmr gets put into masters + it's not really a "he's just stomping metal ranks!1!1" scenario. thanks for all that you do (: edit: for everyone that says "of course you got GM you're already GM!" or "step 1. play videogames since you were a kid" do you not think hiring the best personal trainer will not get you the best advice? do you think that you'll grow the muscles overnight after one session of using that advice? OF COURSE you won't rank up to GM in two hours after this, but you are going to rank up if you keep applying what you learned. you'll never get better if you just assume it's something that can't be done.
I dont know about him, but I recently realised I have a better gameplay while talking to a friend or having a debate on discord than when Im actually focus on the game. But it's personal and I think it just get out the stress of me and then its just muscular memory and I do my game like a fucking robot And thats fucking weird, I was quite surprised by myself cause I thought having my mind focus on something else would down my results.
@@tagadakiI’m the same way. I have moments where i kindve forget i’m even playing something because i’m zoned out and my mind goes auto pilot. it’s like i’m aware but not aware at the same time of what i’m doing. it’s hard to explain. it’s like being in the zone but on crack. you just make all the right moves because no conscious unnecessary thoughts are being implied.
An important thing I realized that I wasn't doing is playing near my team. I would go off into the middle of no where and wonder why I kept dying and why my team wasn't capitalizing. Now that I started implementing this plus your tips I've been doing much better
Deadass went from 5-10 kills, 4-8 deaths, 5000 dmg a match to 25-30, 1-6, 10-15k dmg. You explained it so simple for my dumb ass. All you need are off angles, damage, distractions, natural cover, blinks & recall. Went from silver 2 to plat 2 in 4 hours. What the fuck, man. This is the first time a “life hack” has actually worked for me. What did you do and how?
sometimes that’s all you need. he explained it in a way that made the most sense to you, and it helped you to an even higher degree than if you were to be told in a way that didn’t make sense to you. good stuff dude, keep the momentum going. that’s great to hear.
Just a tip for metal rank players, you will never have aim as good as him, 1/2 of your shots will land and your plays will happen a lot slower, be patient and understand your plays will not happen as fast as presented. This also means you should not go for the same plays as quickly, you need to take more time for yourself and develop the skills over time and practice.
22:55 My tracer blink is super unpredictable, nobody, I mean NOBODY will know where i am going to, including myself. it's like always hit to a wall or blink out of the map from time to time. "omg there is a cliff?... what... ...wait, do i have recall? ... ... ... ...oh shit... ..."
For those wondering, healing isnt value because it's trying to undo the value the other team got. Damage is pressure, healing is not pressure. Healing can let your team DO pressure, this is extremely important for tracer and why he spams healing so often, but it doesn't impact the enemy team like damage does. This is why zen is so incredibly strong.
Your guides have helped me tremendously and due to them have reached GM on both tank and supp this season! Can't wait to learn tracer and try to achieve similar results on dps! ty
brooo I went from silver to masters using your kiriko guide and I just started playing tracer and then you upload this... you're an amazing teacher I can't wait to climb on dps too

I have a life is not full coping tho. I myself never had negative KD, which by nature of the game is fairly easy to achieve on most of the cast. Some people have more on their plate than you or me however. I can guarantee there are people out there Playing OW or other games that where born into a live that would've made you "off" yourself. Your attitude towards learning is exceptional, your teaching style is exceptional. Your outlook on others, emotional intelligence and all that could use some work but that is ok, because like you said, for some things, we have to accept the fact that we suck and move on. (Or from my perspective: Realizing that you suck and if you don't want that, aim to better yourself. One step at a time.)
As a guy who’s been playing since launch and is top 500 consistently, I Still learn from your videos man. I don’t even play support let alone bap, I played 10 games won all of them and went from Diamond 3 to masters 1. Probably the best coach/informational player in the community rn. Keep it up, looking forward to a tank soon :)
I was a top 500 Tracer when the game peaked on OW 1. I hardly ever play anymore but my knowledge from my experience remains. Theres some points he missed on how to improve your tracer gameplay. First, dont shoot all the time. Tracer is the most fragile hero. Avoid bringing too much attention to yourself. The point is to be annoying yes but you have to focus on specific targets to annoy. Not just anybody at first. Healers are your top priority. Always try to find your way to annoy and potentially kill their support. He doesnt ever talk about it and his gameplay never actually shows it which causes him to be a little useless at times. Thats just poor target priority. Pulse bomb. Use it when you can, yes. Except when every decision matters in overtime. If they have a mercy, prioritize pulse bomb for when she tries to rez. Otherwise you risk wasting a pulse bomb on a target that gets rezed and its back to a 5v5. You wont always be able to one clip a mercy trying to rez so make it a 100% chance of stopping it by using your ult. Blinking. Something I learned is to try your best to absolutely avoid blinking down a straight path. Confusing how to word it. If an enemy is right in front of you, never blink straight backwards. Always blink off center your target. You become an easy target to hit when you blink parallel to your target. Hitbox. The smallest hitbox with the highest speed. Be that guy that spam crouches at times against hitscan. Makes you so hard to hit in the head. Positioning. Like I said, Tracer is fragile. This isnt about your positioning. He covered that. This is about enemy positioning. As any role, its important to keep track of enemy positions but as Tracer, you need to know all their positions as much as possible. Helps with recall position, avoiding stuns/hooks, getting minimal value because your target is just hard pocketed, etc. Damage range. God it was painful to watch how far this guy shoots his targets from at times. You have insane damage fall off. And insane one clip potential. Again, youre fragile, but maximizing your damage will get you out of harms way faster. Get up close and personal. Learn the maximum range you can one clip from and thats your goldilocks zone. Live in it. Now, for gods sake stop shooting the pocketed tank and GO FOR THE MERCY
I was gonna say the same thing. I guess you want to "annoy" the enemy team. But in high ranks if you expose your flank, shoot far away, & deal minimal damage, it's almost always over for you because they will intensely focus you, be more likely peel for their teammates, & much more likely to kill you. The hardest part about tracer (besides aim) in my opinion is getting 1 feet away from the enemy and them not being able to hear or see you. Even if I walk & don't crouch for 1 second 20 ft away the enemy team will hear me and my surprise flank is exposed.
only been watching this for 15 mins, and as a tracer main this is unreasonably beautiful and satisfying to watch, a lot of what I’m watching is what I already do, and a lot of what I’m HEARING is what I never thought of, especially shooting all the time
I know this is a super old comment, but even being decent at tracer I don’t think I shot all the time. But I watched some awkward content before I came back this season, and one thing I realized is shooting all the time lulls people to sleep on tracer. They get used to hearing you and ignoring you and it costs them
In general I agree with trying to improve if you play a game and have the ambission to climb. But for some people climbing is not important, they play for fun and they prefer to pour a much bigger part of their free time into another hobby. I disagree with akward when he said that "either don't play or play good" (about 1:25:00 ish). But people that play for fun wouldn't say "I have a life...", so that guy was deeply insecure.
As much as i hate smurfing, ive learned more from three of this guy's videos than I have learned since playing from beta + watching those cookie cutter "guides"
to all the nonbelievers, even without being able to one-clip or confirm every kill, just the tips of always doing damage and pestering reshaped the way i look at the damage role. your videos have been the only thing to help me stop tunnel-visioning and overcommitting when i’ve already found value just by chipping. it really doesn’t require cracked aim to carry in games. thanks, awkward
Dude. After watching the karq ana coaching and half of this vid I went into some games and it *FINALLY* felt like I knew what to do when nothing is happening. It seems so simple to aim for damage but it's not easy to see how to maximise it while also making your own space. Anyway great content
Fell asleep to this guys vid and his toxicity literally woke me up. Name calling, like saying dumbass after a kill really? He participates in like petty nonsense in the chat. He’s so rude and disrespectful.
love watching these videos and getting excited about using a certain character (like Tracer).. then I get in the game, and I start to realize "oh, I'm not that guy" LOL he makes it look so easy.

This is the exact educational content I needed. I've always been a Genji main but I've recently been wanting to learn Tracer instead, it just seems like her carry potential is much higher.
@@goldenninja5039 Just cause Genji can team wipe with nano blade, does not mean he has more carry potential overall bro what.. Tracer has so much more uptime than Genji, along with being a much more consistent hero. I've played Tracer since release of Overwatch 1 and peaked 4300, and if you ask ANY high ranked player, they will tell you the same as me.
One advantage that you have in comparison to another new players that want to learn tracer is that you blink calculations and movements around the map are precise. You always know where are the doors, the health packs, the hallways, etc. And that is the number one reason tracer gets killed, they blink into a wall. Can you give a tip to master this apart of just playing more?
@@Awkward2 Thanks I have been playing soldier because of you and improved so much 💪. Also what are some tips to improve your aiming on console or tips in general that are different from PC to console. And for the last I would love to see an unranked to gm on Ramattra. Yeah I mean lol, this is why they can reach GM in two hours, they already been there, and done that. When you are trying to reach gm for the first time you arent given these teammates that at least know what they are doing; a tracer in gold cannot track that way ,so saying this is educational when you are starting from 0 with the mechanical ability of a gm, it is a ride in the park lol. They basically be saying: "look at what i can do, that you clearly cant because im already gm and stomping lower ranks xD"
Loving the content, this has been by far the most useful channel for helping me improve. Got me from bronze/silver (lows of 1200 SR) to plat/diamond (highest is diamond 4 on support). Thank you so much.
I feel like the skins take is a little silly. Most people don't tend to care about the rarity or cost, they just get the skin because they genuinely like the look of it and want to be the one to use it. I also feel the opposite it's ridiculous to find it cool to have a 10k dollar skin just because it's expensive or someone else doesn't have it.
After watching your videos I am literally apologizing to my teammates when we lose telling them I was unable to carry them but I promise if we meet again, I will be better prepared. Some dude wrote: “Hey #### I love Awkward’s videos too”. Keep them coming!!!
"I came up with the damage philosophy" Pretty sure it's just common sense that you should constantly do damage. I wouldn't attribute that to any person "coming up" with it.
@@badfrostbyte6171 You say it like being that good would turn you into a more egotistical person, but rather I think it's the other way around. I believe that in order to get to that level in the first place, you need to be egotistical. Watching this guy's videos seeing how he repeats the same things over and over, even the most simple things, makes it seem more like these are things that he's been telling himself all this time working up to get as good as he is now. You need the confidence to tell yourself what is the truth and what isn't, you need the confidence to grind. You see another person, you need to say to yourself "Doesn't matter who he is, I can beat him, I just have to __" over and over again. This hurdle for improvement is a daunting task, someone who doesn't believe they're good enough (or could be good enough) to make it isn't going to continue that task to begin with. I really feel you need to be egotistical to improve at, well, any skill. But most especially competitive ones that directly compare yourself against other people.
Yo man been following your unranked to gm series since the ana one you did in ow1. I've gone from plat to almost gm since then following your principles. Keep up the work man and thanks.
I actually tried this method today and won three games in a row sadly lost one but I had great improvements. I was practically useless as a tracer before this
watched the entire thing through. great great great advice at the end man. this video really helped me understand the fundamentals of self accountability.
Damn after watching this and the reaper guide I've learned so much and I'm carrying on most of my games now even though my aim isn't that great just by infiltrating the backline and taking away the attention of the supports/dps. One thing i like doing as well is the workshop aim training on tracer while I'm queueing for a game so i can work on my aim at the same time as playing the game and practicing positioning and ability management. tyvm awkward for the help
Absolute insane skill. It's even more incredible that you build it simply by applying solid fundamentals. Also you're incredibly positive, which I appreciate very much
So much respect man for always calling out your own mistakes, it helps me recalibrate the way I think as a team player instead of blaming. You are goated
the most impressive part of these is awk’s map knowledge. being able to walk in and out of doorways without even looking is a huge part of his positioning.
@@ecciq I met a lot of good tracers that are not smurf, they existed ofc, but there are something that you can only see more on gm level. For example, constant animation cancel, 1 clipping even while I'm strafing and have some heal on me? Yeah, they don't belong to my rank. There's a difference between me getting 1 clip while im running in a single line or standing still (playing scope heroes) etc, and me strafing around; the speed acceleration and fast-changing of direction in this game are very punishing for the opponent to consistently aim, especially high spread tracking or a single burst. Non-smurf good tracers can have good games and get tons of value, but you don't see the technical side, movement and aim after re-watching some vods. Most people only watch vods where they excel at a game, but rarely do they watch a game where they got completely dominated by the enemy,. It's how I found the number of cheaters/smurfs/ or the shitty matchmaking doing its work.
