Edward Thomas STOLEN?! - Talyllyn Railway Update 

If Edward Thomas was kidnapped I would stop at nothing to rescue and/or avenge her

"Number 4 is being stolen!" NO! "Actually its going on holiday for its 100th birthday!" YAY!

It’s really cool, 2 narrow gauge 2’ 3” railways working together to preserve history! Can’t wait to see Corris number 7 on Talyllyn rails later too!

Whilst working on the Nant Gwernol Extension (with Bob Gunn) many, many years ago a friend and I did a sort of feasibility study on nicking No.4 back for the Corris. We reckoned you would need to drive a specially adapted van to the forestry road crossing. Some sort of diversion could be created at Aber just after No. 4 had come in with a train. The wholesale derailment of a train of hopper wagons would suffice - which did happen, at least once, during this summer - I think it was '72. Anyway, this would seal the line off to the south. No. 4 would be seized whist the crew were in the tea room and sneaked off to the forestry crossing.

I forgot this happened I’m so happy she gets to see her old line it’s a beautiful line

Wonderful to see ongoing projects on these little Railways, preserving and enhancing them for future generations to enjoy 🚂

Yet another engine turning 100 Years Old. The fact that the Talyllyn Railway as 100 Year Old engines STILL in service is amazing, and one of the reasons it's one of my favorite railways.

I am a keen fan of Tom (L.T.C.) Rolt's writing, his biographies of the great engineers and his 'Railway Adventure' at the Talyllyn. I believe that he served his apprenticeship at Kerr Stuart where 'Edward Thomas' was built. I also have the full set of original 'Four Little Engine' books buried somewhere from my childhood!

I was almost worried when I saw the title of the video and I was like "WHAT?!!!!", until after watching the entire video, I completely understood. Let's all wish Edward Thomas (Peter Sam) a happy 100th birthday and for him to return home to the Talyllyn safe and sound.

It's a nice gesture having her run on her old line on her birthday. No doubt she drew the crowds on the day. It really cool heritage groups work together and share locos with each other. It helps to keep things fresh for the locals at each railway and gives reason to celebrate stuff rather than just having the same old day. I hope it was a nice day for all concerned.

Imagine if the Sodor Railways series is still releasing books. This'll serve as great inspiration for a new story featuring Peter Sam!

Cos of the title; i thought ET had been stolen mid-transit by hooligans. But no; instead s/he is just heading to the first railway they worked at for their 100th birthday.

There is something always charming and endearing about these little railways. Kinda like Hobbits, Elves, and Gnomes -- a harmony with nature.

I used to live near the B&O railroad Museum and they always had a large collection of steam engines. Some of them are giants.One day I saw my favorite engine stripped down and loaded on a modern train. It had been restored years before so I doubt that it was being restored again. I'm not sure but it think it was sold.

I'd imagine if some of the cargo trains went in to a yard and simply saw a abandoned steam engine id bet my legs that who ever was the engineer would hook it up and bring the old steel back to a workshop
