In this episode of Style Revival I'm going to pull inspiration from Edwardian era fashion and beauty trends, to create a modern, wearable head-to-toe look with historical vibes. It's going to be a heavily modernised one this time, keep your eyes peeled for a more authentic version when I finally come across the perfect high-neck blouse!

My name is Lucy, I'm a 25-year-old girl from the Netherlands, and I'm here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.
On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies & tv shows and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
I do lifestyle and beauty videos as well, ranging from wearable everyday looks, makeup tips and DIY natural beauty treatments, to fashion lookbooks, vegetarian recipes and more extreme Halloween tutorials.
If you enjoy history, you've come to the right place as well. I have a few series based on historical makeup and hairstyling that are my little passion projects.
Enjoy browsing!
Love,
Lucy

Hey Loepsie you should try doing looks from Downton Abbey, I absolutely adore that show! It covers roughly the same time period as well, 1912 to 1926. the costumes were absolutely sumptuous!

I think the art deco era did incorate alot of those elements. If doing ancient egypt, I think adding art deco elements would add to it.

In a world full of jeans and leggings the skirt is practically exotic. I'm at a place in my life when I attempt to put on jeans I cringe a bit. Denim jeans in the 80's and early 90's (can't comment on decades before that, as I was born in 1980) the material quality was better. Then all the jeans started to get the spandex stretchy stuff which seemed like a good idea at the time... but it started to apply to ALL jeans that were made. They felt fine for the first 5 minutes then warped and got bigger as you wore them. Where pockets used to sit on your cheeks, they now sit so low they get sucked up under your actual butt cheeks... making it look like your butt is melting down the back of your legs. Granted the waist line has raised up a bit but I remember when the Express had the "bikini" jean that sat so low you had to place a hand over your upper crack should you bend over to pick anything up. In conclusion I miss the days when Lucky made jeans out of 100% denim, they would wash and wear beautifully and they lasted YEARS. You might be able to guess that I don't own a lot of jeans... ;) So obviously, in just my humble opinion, I think you would look gorgeous in a skirt. The problem is, I don't think there are great options at the mall or even online. Especially if you were going for that Edwardian look. A modern Edwardian skirt might look a lot like a 70's gunne sax skirt. And if you find a vintage one, it will cost you an arm and a leg. The 70's did a very nice job of recapturing the romantic era without it feeling like a costume. I don't think the bustle will come back any time soon but, with the right inspiration, combination, and textiles, you never know...

I have to say, i despise jeans but it is unfortunately part of my school uniform. Jeans are one of the most uncomfortable clothing iteams for me to wear. I would much rather wear a nice skirt.

I have a lot of luck finding all sorts of skirts here in Canada. Even to the point of wearing Edwardian outfits composed of non-Edwardian clothing, with no modern flair.

Yes. These days, jeans are actually made with polyester as well even! I'm a clothing and technical designer so I have experience in this area.

I had an eye opening experience with "jeans" when I went to a photoshoot. I was told to bring several different outfits. I was no fashionista by any means, so I arrived with a bunch of tops and jeans. When the photographer's assistant looked through what I brought she said every single one of my outfits would look the same, because I paired them with jeans. It hadn't dawned on me, that while I did have different tops, the jeans always brought everything down to the same playing field. If anything, I think jeans are, in their own right, outdated and overused. Now, I don't think they will ever go away but if you want uniformity; jeans definitely pull everyone into line.

AM MJ Oh man! I LOVE my jeans. Granted, 95% of my jeans aren't regular blue jeans. I love printed, textured, treated, patchwork, designer, etc. jeans. I also have my classic Levi 501s, something my mom passed down to me, a love of a classic 501. But I understand what you mean. Jeans have come so far though! They're much more than just plain old jeans.

This is amazing, I normally like the more historical looks, but I don't know this seems to be the perfect perfect perfect! blend between old fashion and new fashion, and that scarf totally finished it, it wouldn't be perfect without the scarf, but the hair and hat are awesome and too. I think it may be because you mixed some purely Edwardian styles, like hair and makeup and maybe hat, definitely scarf; with purely modern styles, the shirt and jeans. And so it's a perfect blends of absolutes, not a blend of half's that can muddy and get confusing as to the original inspirations. You are a magic worker Leopsie!

How about a late 1960s/early 1970s Hippie look. Think Woodstock, Altamont, Haight-Ashbury (San Francisco), etc. Those were some fun times with really cool if not interesting fashion.

I really think you should build up to the reveal. Don't record the intro after you're already done. I don't feel like I need to watch the rest of the video. -I'm going to, but I feel like it would be better to change the format. Sorry, no hate.

Karina Lira She said at the begining that She tries to modernize this look making it more weareable.She just use the Edwardian Era as inspiration. About The Coachella "look",It comes from The 70's,a fashion that takes inspiration from The Edwardian Era,so it's normal that The outfit resemble a Coachella's one.

@junimondig
@junimondig 6 лет назад
What's up with the unnecessary hate against someone who just stated their opinion? Lucy said she's gonna make this modern. She did. Someone did not like it. So what? Don't you think she can handle it very well herself? I wouldn't have seen the edwardian influence if I didn't know beforehand either and I personally don't like the outfit at all. Will you come at me now? Still I think it's interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed it as she explained perfectly fine why she choose certain elements. Of course there is nothing "truly" edwardian about this outfit, but that's not the look she was going for anyway, so? If someone doesn't like this outfit who cares? She did a good job apart from anyones opinion and is definitely not in need of persons to "defend" her like this.
@ammj6202
@ammj6202 6 лет назад
Netz Schaf has made a reasonable and logical comment. Karina Lira has 20 thumbs up. At least 20 some people who read her comment felt the same. This society where there is a mandatory or compulsive need to attack anyone who doesn't agree with you is ridiculous. I don't think Karina was being mean in her original comment, she disagreed. Disagreeing is okay. When I first saw this video I immediately thought "Janis Joplin"... the big floppy hat, the round glasses, the layered necklace. It is super hard to make an Edwardian look from modern pieces in my opinion. I like that Loepsie challenged herself anyway, that is an awesome challenge most people wouldn't take on. Whether she hit the bulls eye or not, is going to vary based on the opinions of others, and thank goodness we still have freedom to discern.
