I don't think he said anything wrong - "lucky bastard!" is just a hearty way of showing envy, lending to the notion that the subject / pilot has made it successful. It's like slapping a guy on the back after a successful flight, etc - you're not trying to hurt him, you're showing admiration. However, if you don't see the correlation, it's likely just a social difference. As an Australian, if I was the "lucky bastard" I wouldn't take a single shred of offence.

Just get on with it Lockheed. When you're that far behind schedule it's really not the time to marvel single tests but you should be facing an accelerated test program where multiple test should be combined. Come on, how many billions are you going to milk us for before you're going to finish this thing. It's like having Puerto Rican gardener at 100,000 dollars an hours... come on already
Well it really shouldn't come as no surprise to the manufactures of these aircraft that they are complex and hard to do. The F-35 is one big delay of their own schedule and with the billions upon billions mounting up in cost overruns we really have to start asking ourselves if they're incapable or unwilling to get the job done in a timely and cost effective manner or is this merely an exercise in maximizing profit.
No. The contract to develop the F-35 was signed in 2001. So we are 11 years in. If you compare the Eurofighter, it was designed in the early 1980s, and only entered service in the mid 2000s, with full air to ground capability only recently acheived. The Russian Su-27 was designed in the mid 70s, and only reached full capability in the mid 90s. Modern fighters are incredibly complex pieces of equipment.
The project has had its problems, but don't forget, this aircraft is essentially replacing the F-16, F-18, A-10, Harrier and to some extent taking on missions from the F-15. If you compare the development costs of all these aircraft, the F-35 isn't doing quite as badly as its detractors would have us believe.
@monster29456 They have made almost 1000 test flights. You don't think they have done any of that stuff? They have, it just hasn't been released to the public.
Anyone moderately intelligent and not lazy. But I'll leave it to you to decide why you're jealous and not doing what he's doing. For myself, I don't make excuses.

OK I GET IT. THE F35 IS CAPABLE OF GETTING OFF THE GROUND THATS WHAT A PLANE IS SUPPOSED TO DO. SO LET ME SEE SOME MANEUVERS AND SEE HOW USEFUL IT REALLY IS. SO FAR ALL I SEE IS A PLANE THAT CAN FLY,TURN AND HOVER THATS IT!
