Have to say that I never have understood the infatuation the whole world has with the Marleys (I include Bob Marley in this as well). There were so many artists that were superior IMO. Dennis Brown had one of the greatest voices of any artist and the volume of work he produced was amazing. Go to any West Indian function where older music is played and observe who they listen to. It's not the Marleys. I well remember Ziggy Marley winning a Grammy back in the 80s instead of Dennis, Gregory, or Freddie and just shaking my head.

However I think it was pretty telling when he won a reggae artist of the year award in 1993 in a Washington DC Caribbean Music show. It was so frustrating to me when it was always a Marley who was a reggae music award winner . I've never seen a genre that was so dominated by one family. I have to wonder how this impacted other artists. Bob Marley has an almost cult like following, usually by non Jamaicans. And I am amazed when people, usually white Americans rave about the Legend album. There are so many better albums. Dennis Brown's Love Has Found Its Way is such a great album with meaningful, beautiful songs and yet nobody outside of knowledgeable reggae fans know about it. Amazing. And I don't even want to get started on the limited talented Marley kids.

Sounds like what happened is perhaps that the Marley brothers agreed to pay Mouse a certain amount up front, but since the album did so well, Mouse feels that he deserves more than that. If he truly has a legit claim to get paid royalties, then he can take that to court. But if he agreed to do the part in the song for a set amount, then he has no legal case, just perhaps a personal one. Who knows exactly what words were said by Damian or Stephen to Eek a Mouse?
