My youngest son has got a good job but he wanted to do something satisfying for the community and joined the volunteer Dutch firefighters. I am so proud of him coz when he is on duty he can get a call in the middle of the night and be busy for hours and in the morning still has to go to work.

It's a good exercise for when a person gets stuck in the reeds..., and an animal is also worth saving. If they know it's a small incident, they do not send a big crew. So this is practice and fun at the same time, nice break of daily slur.

an animal is a life too so it is worth saving, taking care of animals is 100% ingrained in us here in the Netherlands. Kids did great calling the fire department, that is how i was brought up as well.

There’s this website that lists some of the calls our emergency services get called out to. Which is quite handy, if you suddenly hear a lot of sirens around you. It also shows posts like “animal in trouble”, which is a lot more frequent than I would have thought before that site. As for animals, the most ‘dangerous’ wildlife we have are wolves, but their numbers are only slooooowly rising and only a risk for livestock.
