Honestly sounds like RU-vid is trying to push this for advertising purposes. I've never heard of this before or anything even remotely related to it, until this video showed up in a special featured banner in my RU-vid recommends... (And I'm an avid gamer).

honestly this isn't new they mainly advertise these games to women, things like the sims and animal crossing (cozy games) have been around for decades

Cozy games are MUCH older than Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. M.U.L.E. (1983), Little Computer People (1985), Sim City (1989), Sim Farm (1993) are some of the earliest games of this genre. The term came later, but us older folks have been relaxing under blankets with a nice cup of tea to games like this for decades. ~♥

Cozy games can be whatever you want. For some it can be a golf game, for others it can be a fighting game. For me, it is Dark Souls games, and I'm not trolling. It provides me comfort and relaxation. Cozy is a mindset and a sense of place, not a category.
