The people that put the tolls up probably thought, hey will get them as they go to the mall and we'll make bank. What it did was killed the mall.

It always amazes me how many abandoned properties there are like this in America. In Europe someone would buy it up and build something else there. Such a shame. Also I hate those assholes that feel the need to smash and destroy everything. It's like they can't sleep at night knowing that they left some windows or doors unbroken.

The current situation is going to kill a LOT of retail.

Imagine how great of a large scale paintball arena this would be if you cleaned it up

OH MY GOD I used to come here as a kid! I loved this place but it eventually fell out of fashion. I oddly remember that in the last few years tour busses would stop here full of tourists to see it, even though it was so deserted. Awesome video; brought back the memories

I grew up going to this mall in Maryland and lived in Cecil County for 24 years. I went to that outlet many times when I was younger. The place you went with the green looking carpet I’m pretty sure was LL Bean. The one place with the hanging lights on the ceiling was Nike I think. I remember going there plenty of times, along with Claire’s & Rue 21. It is so weird to see it looking like this, abandoned and in shambles. This area is also known for severe drug addiction, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the people you ran into were there to hide out & get high, unfortunately. Thanks for sharing this video. It was creepy but interesting, a weirdly nostalgic trip down memory lane. EDIT: Y’all are awesome. My most ever liked post on YT❤️ lol.

It's amazing how quickly buildings decay when exposed to the elements and equally amazing how quick we are to abandon them.

I have never understood why some people have to vandalize something that does not belong to them.

Thanks for this. I live about 15 minutes from there. One and only time I went was right before they closed apparently. Had maybe 10 stores open at that time, one of them being Nike. The rest were mom-and-pop stores for the most part. Hard to believe it became so run down in only four years.

"Not much vandalism" as the camera shows broken windows, broken satellite dish and graffiti. Lol..still though, I love this stuff.

I appreciate the history and back story to this mall. That was kinda creepy at the end with those other people in the mall. Good thing you weren’t there alone.

Man, I only live 2 minutes away from here and this is kind of depressing. Lived in this area of Maryland my whole life and I would always remember my mom and aunt taking me and my sister here at a young age to shop all the time. There was a playground at the entrance that we would stay on while they shopped. I remember that when the last three Harry Potter books were released, I would get them at the book store in there as a gift. Knew it was closed for awhile but never knew it looked like this.

Maybe they will use it for shooting "The Walking Dead: Susquehanna"....

This reminds me of the Willingboro Plaza in Willingboro NJ where I grew up. It’s all but gone but for years it sat abandoned after having several decades of major success starting in the early 60s.

The background music adds a spooky atmosphere. As a security guard in the late eighties, I had to watch over a few places like these. 👻🤙🙌👈

I find it interesting that some of the newest shopping areas I've been to are outside malls built because people miss the downtown shopping experience. So developers are trying to bring back that vibe with outdoor malls.

Back in 2005 I worked for Time Warner Cable and I had to get access to a pedestal that was inside an old Kmart.. and the receiving area was full of abandoned products like PlayStation 2s and old furniture. All I can think of now if I just had a video recorder would have made a great RU-vid video!! Sir you put on some incredible videos thanks for the hard work that you.

Man I used to love going here. I bought a school backpack at LLBean, I got my prom dress there when the mall was on its last legs. Honestly, one of the reasons why it failed was because you could drive 25 more minutes further and pay no taxes for a nicer mall (Christiana) in Delaware.

The road was always a toll road since it opened on November 15, 1963. The people from Philadelphia and Delaware and other places in that direction could always come without paying a toll because the toll barrier was beyond the exit for people coming from there. But for people coming from Baltimore, the DC area, and other places in that direction, they always had to go through the toll barrier. The big change was that in 1991, the tolls were switched to one-way. The tolls were collected northbound, and people going north had to pay twice as much to go through the barrier as they had paid before. So, yes, a larger toll had to be paid to go there, but it was balanced by no toll to get home.

When you are at home and haven’t worked because your state has a stay at home order and there is a Claire’s mailbox so you are reminded that you can not escape Claire’s even when you aren’t working. I’m the assistant manager at one so it is even funnier.

CASUAL CORNER seemed to be in all the malls starting in the 90s. Brings back memories!

Always find it incredible the size of these places left abandoned. In the UK these things end up for sale, flattened and rebuilt , usually into houses. A lot less space here i suppose. Great vid!

Sad, truly sad to see all the damage. Seems like people can't leave things alone. Destroy, break and what ever damage they can do.

I live on Perryville, MD about 5 minutes away from this outlets actually. The mall sucked and they are thinking about turning it into another warehouse facility which people in Perryville are infuriated about. The big store where you said could've been a grocery store was actually Nike. But really, they only sold shoes. They had some clothes, but options were limited. You were dead accurate when you said only tourist buses would show up Haha

Damn man. My mother used to take me here a bunch! I grew up in Aberdeen not far away. Until like a year ago I still had a pair of dress shoes I bought here. It was mostly clothing and kitchen wear stores. I remember one store had like a million kinds of kitchen pots and utensils. That's nuts. The last time I was there I was with her and it was still pretty busy. It was the same year Batman Forever came out. I remember because "Kissed by a Rose" was still being played constantly on the radio. It was on when we left. I had no idea the place had just decayed like this since then! What a mess. To be fair though, I hated getting dragged here. It was always a miserable shopping experience for me as a kid because you had to keep walking out into whatever horrible temperature it was outside and there was maybe one store that sold any kind of fun stuff like toys, and it wasn't a very good one. So I can hardly blame people for not going anymore, was kind of crappy. So yea I guess the last time I ever visited I was in eighth grade maybe. Maybe if I had known I'd never see it again I'd have taken in the atmosphere a bit more, lol.

I grew up between Harford and cecil county. Born in havre de grace. I didn't even know this was here and I was born in 1996. I'll have to go check it out sometime, assuming it hasn't been entirely torn down by now. I grew up in the bel air, joppa, edgewood, aberdeen area, going to Harford and whitemarsh mall, whitemarsh being the better of the two, but I hear they're both nearly dead malls now. I live a bit further away now but with family still in the area. I have to check this place out.

There is a very similar one 45min from me. It is near the Canadian border at an intersection, it underperformed severely. I learned to drive in it's parking lot.

It's way less common to see strip malls abandoned since they're always popular.

The roofs on these shopping malls are crap they never last very long!! Flat roofs do not work🤔🤔

Whoa! I LOVED going to that mall coming in from Delaware. I'd go once a month after leaving US Army Aberdeen Proving Ground's PX (a store for the military only). That mall was NICE back in 1992. I was 25. *Sob*

you have to think the 114 thumbs down you got was for that no trespassing sign, but i am with you , i do this all the time and its obvious there is no enforcement at this place, its totally destroyed by vandals.....thats a shame.....keep up the good work

The "grocery store" was the Nike Outlet Store. The only store that mattered in that place.

I remember when this mall was open and have many memories from when I was a kid going shopping at it. Even have a Family friend who taught sowing classes in a fabric shop, which if I recall correct was one of the last to close. I'm not surprised with some of the damage as the high school is not to far and some of the students and people of the town are truly garbage of the earth. Wish the town would try to do something as they are currently in a land grab mood with a Great Wolf Lodge planned to be built not to far from where the mall is located.

I moved down here a year ago. I'm about 3 minutes down the road. I found this place by accident and when I went back with my drone to film the whole thing had finally been demolished!

Since the beginning of March nearly EVERY mall is an abandoned mall.

This place is surreal, definitely got this on my radar.

Great video! I remember when I was working as a o.t.r trucker, I stopped at that pilot truck stop next to mall. I walked over to the mall and brought a pair of nikes lol. That had to be in 2009 or 2010

I literally live 10 minutes from here. I used to go to the outlets back in the 1990’s and early 2000’s. I can’t believe how it looks now. I figured the enormous homeless population would have set up shop there. Last I heard they were supposed to build a Great Wolf Lodge there.

As soon as I saw the name Perryville, I thought there couldn’t be that many places named it. I pass by Perryville via 95 on my way to Philadelphia several times a year. Thing about the toll bridge is that it only charges in the northbound direction. Southbound it’s free

I use to stop there in the 90's and early to mid 2000's during our family trips to and from Central Florida, thanks for this video... always seemed that the Nike factory store here was always a main attraction

Glad you and nation of decay both have filmed this place as I have known about it for a few years only because I work for pilot flying j as a fuel driver and when I deliver to the perryville store I usually grab a bite to eat and park at the abandoned kfc/taco bell. I have walked down into the parking lot but never ventured to far in as most of the times I have been there I always seen work Van's and the would usually be working on the big electric boxes and the driveway gate would be open as if the was supposed to be in there. Anyway great video but looks like if anything goes in there they'd be better off to demo it and start over. Thanks for the awesome video!

I actually work for Van Heusen, the first store you stepped into, and my heart sank when I saw the sign. The mall is just so sad :(

Smart people drove by this mall and continued up 95 a bit to Delaware with no sales tax. Is there not a new Casino that has opened in Perryville? Interesting to see it reduced to ruins though.

Wow, I remember walking around that mall in the mid 90's when I was driving home on leave from the Navy. So creepy, it was packed rediculously when I stopped in.

One of the last stores was a sears outlet/repair center. I remember the bus loads of Asian tourists that would stop. They must have been disappointed.

I'm surprised to see no mention of the phenomenon of on-line shopping affecting walk-in retail. I think this is a major reason why many retail concerns are in trouble.

Love your vids! You should look into doing a video on the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan, used to host tons of events and was home of the pistons before they left for downtown, it’s been abandoned for awhile now.

I used to live there and went to that mall a few times. There was a different restaurant where Chesapeake Buffet was and it had the best crab cakes ever.

I rode by there just the other day that place is completely gone now nothing more than a open field.

Just went here today, it's close to me. Soooo overgrown now with way more graffiti and super super disgusting and wet still. We didn't go inside too deeply but I'm sure nothing laying around in this video is still around.
