Unboxing and setting up the Eero J010001 Mesh Router system. Video shows setup on first module and a second module. I setup a third module exactly the same way as the second module, but this is not shown on the video.
System features: TrueMesh Technology for whole home coverage and seamless roaming. Dual-band WiFi radios simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5GHz wireless. Two auto-sensing gigabit Ethernet ports. Support for UPnP, DHCP, IPv6, and Port Forwarding. 2x2 MU-MIMO, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac. WPA2 wireless encryption. Each Eero module covers 1,500 square feet, when Eero units are used together to create a mesh network, overall coverage may increase beyond the capabilities of a single unit. In my experience the system worked seamlessly to provide strong signal through out my home (1,600 sqft), including the basement.

I just purchased this on an early prime days deal but I only got one extender. They got a really good deal going on right now…$129 for router and 1 extender.

Hello Thomas, what has your experience with the Eero been like so far?
@nabibutterfly5385

My d/l speeds have gone from 150-175mps. to less than 2mps the past few days. I brought these about 6 months ago. Not sure what the problem is. 2 pucks other pucks not connected to the modem are downstairs & one upstairs. The one upstairs is hard wired to a smart tv & desktop.

I wonder if something is going on with your internet service provider or the modem, maybe try a direct connection (hard wire) to your modem and perform a speed test, this might help you determine if the Eero units are the problem or if the modem or your ISP is having issues.

Think I did everything correct. I put the ethernet cord in Lan1 but am still having difficulty pairing the eero. Have I done anything incorrectly? I would really appreciate some assistance..

hey man, little help from your side, i did the same as you, but i was no able to move forward due an error saying eeero can reach internet , instead of the cable connected to the eero has internet directly from the modem (i check it pluuging my pc to the moden via cable and works) but seems eero cant get a valid ip. any idea?

Quick question, since you set up 3 different devices in different rooms.. Every time you leave the room would you have to connect to the new module or the one in the family room runs everything?
@SebastianOats
@SebastianOats 3 года назад
In my experience all your movement through out the home is seamlessly routed without any additional effort from the user. Once you join the network on any of the modules, I believe it hands it off to each module as needed, when you walk to different rooms. Either way, I don't know for certain, but the net effect is a good experience for the user.

So the 2nd one you set up in the office you can plug an Ethernet cord from your computer into the satellite? How is the speed compared to plugging directly into the modem? I’ve been looking between this and the Orbi RBK50 which I like since the main one and satellite has more than 2 Ethernet ports.
@SebastianOats
@SebastianOats 3 года назад
Each of the three Eero satellites in this kit has exactly two ethernet plugs you can use, and in my home at least, I'm very satisfied with both the hardwire ethernet speed and the wireless speed (though honestly I can't discern a difference in speed or latency...both are very fast). Obviously I can't speak to the Orbi performance, but I would think you would be quite happy with the Eero units, unless for some reason you need more than two hardwired ethernet connections than two per satellite, but I would think for most people this is plenty adequate.

Which model did you get? There are various models, Eero Wifi 5, Eero 6 and Eero Pro 6.
@SebastianOats
@SebastianOats 3 года назад
Hello Sohail, the unit I bought was Model: J010001 (made in Vietnam), and the SKU for the 3 pack is: J010311. Unfortunately Eero makes it tricky to clearly identify if the product is Gen 1 or Gen 2 or if it's Eero Wifi 5 or 6. You should be able to look up my model number though and draw your own conclusions. I'm getting ready to make a new video showing the wifi coverage even outside of my house, I noticed the eero still has a solid connection while i'm in my car a few houses away, seems worthy of a short video, stay tuned. As brief research to answer your question I did a quick check on Amazon of my original order, and while I was scrolling I stopped in the review section for fun, and it's still very interesting how much diversity there is in the Amazon reviews. Looking at the reviews leaves you with almost no useful conclusions, half of them are terrible and half of them are raving, makes it hard for the consumer. At the end of the day you just need to take the leap, and make sure a good return policy is available, I am still very happy, the eero pack i bought has been consistently fast and with almost zero complaints (occasionally my furthest satellite module will show it's red light, but this usually resolves in a minute or less).

I have seen advise to put your modem in Direct mode which stops the router from broadcasting any WiFi signal that was part of the modem/router. Did you do any of that? One user said they didn't change any setting in their modem and it still worked great. Eero says another WiFi would interfere with their eero wifi signal, comment?
@SebastianOats
@SebastianOats 3 года назад
Hello John, I didn't use Direct mode, that's the first I've heard anything about it. Maybe I'll read up on it too. My signal seems pretty good as it is, but of course I'm always open to ideas for improving efficiency, response time, or throughput. My neighbors on each side definitely have wifi and it's possible there might be some amount of interference, but as fast as my setup is right now, it's not really noticeable. I'll comment again if I figure out something that might useful to anyone else.

@@SebastianOats I setup without changing the modem and I got great results. Performed better than my Netgear extender. Only thing I noticed was the ping time was just a little greater with eero.

Since you set up the meshes in 3 different rooms, can you name the meshes the same password so it doesn't have to reconnect every time you leave/enter a room?
@SebastianOats
@SebastianOats 2 года назад
The 3 mesh modules will all act like one single system, the password for the system will work seamlessly behind the scenes (no need to reconnect to the system overall unless you prefer that way), you won't really know when you switch from module to module, unless you check the app to see which devices are communicating from each module (which you can check very well on the app).

Question if I switch my modem to eero will it affect the whole house because I really need it for my room
@SebastianOats
@SebastianOats 2 года назад
Hello Charles, I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question as intended, so I'll take a stab at it. If you replace your current modem with a set of eero mesh routers, then you should be able to position one of the three units close to or even inside your room, and the other two could be positioned for good coverage for the remainder of the home. The three eero modules should offer improved coverage over a single wireless router.

@@SebastianOats because my router/modem is in the first floor and my room is above it. I'm really bad in techy terms so forgive me. Yeah I just want eero extender/ethernet on my room but if I unplug my modem and plug it on the extender I hope it doesn't affect the house.
@SebastianOats
@SebastianOats 2 года назад
Hello Charles, to be transparent my home is a ranch (1st floor and a basement), with the three modules that came in my Eero kit, I do have good signal even in my basement. I would assume this would also translate well for a second floor. To help clarify, typical home setups have a modem (the line from outside your home first plugs into this device), then your modem will typically plug into a router, which acts as the hub for communicating with all your wired or wireless devices inside your home. The eero mesh router would only replace your current router, and hopefully improve your coverage on your second floor. You will still need your modem in either setup, it's just a question of weather your current wireless router is better or worse than the Eero kit. If your room is directly above the modem, and this is where the primary eero module would also be installed, you should have good signal on the 1st and 2nd floor. The rest of the house would then be covered by the other two satellite modules, you might need to try which rooms offer the best coverage. I've found that it takes some trial and error depending on what furniture, walls, and objects you have in your home, in order to find the best placement for the satellite modules.

@@SebastianOats honestly I just need it for my room and hopefully it doesn't affect the entire 2nd floor.

Do you have to hard wire one in ?
@SebastianOats
@SebastianOats 2 года назад
Yes, at least one of the modules needs to have an ethernet connection hard wired to your modem. All the other modules will then communicate wirelessly with the "lead" module that is hard wired.
