For us, this video is like when your parents randomly bust out that photo album with all your baby photos to show your friends. "It's Emotional" has never been a more appropriate tagline. This was impressively well researched and funny.
Alright now a real question. Incognito inc 2 how about bringing some stealth action back into your company. Would really warm my heart. Next to mark of the ninja but I think you guys are done with that tho... Edit: I’m sorry I meant to say invisible inc. memories get junky after a while.
Things I learned today: -Being angry makes you jump higher. -Whales are love. Whales are life. -Merchandise is a bigger threat than both the void and vengeful cyborgs.
The original Eets really is peak nostalgia. It looks like what you'd get if you put everyone's childhood memories of flash games in a blender and poured it out onto the carpet (affectionately)
4:05 What I like the most about Klei games is how anything interacts with everything, making the world feel connected, and really fun to mees around. Looks like that was the case from their first game.
This game kinda feels like a sandbox puzzle game where every playthrough is different in a way which is a strength not other puzzle games have. The game even encourages to be creative with trophies you unlock by using less items in a level.
I like how klei just went "we're a mobile game company now" from 2012 to 2014. Thankfully, Don't Starve managed to escape that philosophy, so it's interesting to think of what could have happened to Eets if it did too.
Klei 2006 : we make weird pc games Klei 2012 : Hahahahaha we are going to take advantage of the ever growing mobile market to become the most optimised game company ever Klei 2022 : we make weird pc games
Weird phrasing there, Don't Starve was in the middle of 2012-2014 being released in 2013 while Eets Munchies was 2014 and Mark of the Ninja (which isn't even on mobile) was 2012, hell Shank 2 was released in 2012 and wasn't on mobile. All Klei mobile games are Don't Starve (ironically enough), Eets Munchies, Invisible, Inc from 2015, and Hot Lava in 2019.
I find that so many games today just follow the principle of holding the carrot in front of the player's nose and having him run after it stupidly the whole game. It's become really rare that you have to think for yourself and explore the game or do your own experiments to study the functions of an item. By the way, I think it's very commendable that you go to so much trouble to bring attention to a game like Eets.
the problem, particualry in more complex games, is that dominant theory takes hold, and it can sort of blind players to more fun or innovative ways to overcome obstacles
I remember playing this game when I was younger! I really loved Eets and the music and everything brought back so many memories. I remember playing this on the family computer all the time!
The original game gives me flash games you played in the school computer lab when you were supposed to be working vibes and i love it you can see the devs had fun making this game and its awesome
I remember playing this game just to force feed him chocolate to the point of crashing my cp. The sound effects are very satisfying. I don’t even remember doing it, but I completed this game, save for one or two achievements.
I immediately recognized eets' little scared face on the title card and I was like "no way someone made a video about this". There are like five videos total about it on RU-vid.
Feck man... this video has so many pitfalls and rough edges yet you've managed to make me actually go out of my way to play some near 10 and 16 year old puzzle games even though I hate puzzle games. Your passion for this niche title is infectious
long time watcher first time commenter lmao. This video was really cool to watch and i really enjoyed a deepdive into eets, ive been a klei fan for almost 10 years but this was genuinely all new to me and so cool to learn. ok i dont wanna write an essay here just i rly enjoyed this and if you wanna do deepdives on other klei stuff or whatever grabs you in this way ill very gladly watch them
I love this video! You have a pretty great sense of humour, and this very much shows it works no matter what the game is that you are talking about, so you could make more videos on games besides Don't Starve too and they'd be great too :D
...holy shit.... HOLY SHIT, FOR SO LONG I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING I THOUGHT I'D NEVER SEE AGAIN AND THIS WAS IT, this whole time!!! I forgot the name but this is it!!! I finally found it!!
I want Eets to be added to Don’t Starve Together. He has no arms so he won’t be able to pick stuff up, every person on the server would have to keep him alive by feeding him, or eating stuff off the ground
Man, I remember playing the original Eets way back in 8th grade and how much fun I had doing so. Besides beating every level I would just mess around in the level creator for hours doing silly stuff or just levels with no true cohesion or just ones that had neat chain reactions going on. And I also agree on Eets Munchies feeling like an inferior version to the original. Something about its level and puzzle design just never felt as fun as the original. It's still a fine game but while playing it I constantly kept thinking how much I rather play the original and its more interesting puzzles. Who knows maybe one day Klei gives the guy another chance but for the foreseeable future I doubt it. Maybe as a lil pet project ones Rotwood is done or so who knows.
I bought eets munchies as a joke and when playing it the whole time I was thinking "man the version meatgood is playing looks so much more fun lets go find that"
huh. Pretty decent for being the first game. A shame the mobile game sequel wasn't as good, but it's still passable. Now I will see if there will be results for the first Eets after this now that we know the game exists
God I remember playing this game back when I was a kid, very surprised to learn that Klei made it, since Oxygen Not Included is like one of my favourite games now
OH MY GOSH! Dude I’ve had this game stuck in my head from my childhood for ages! Thanks for helping me finally find it. I always wanted to eat the emotion pills.
I remember playing Eets as a kid. This brings back good memories. I'm glad others can learn about this game, too. Plus I really like hearing how others enjoyed this game, too. I didn't know anyone else who played this game for ages.
No but like it's the little things. The deadpan delivery while visual gags go in the back. For (a random) example - around 1:19 where he mentions the founder of Klei with the intonation which implies amazement and awe but accompanied with an image of a google search which shows he didn't (in the gag, or not, but that's not important) actually know who founded Klei making a humorous contradiction (tone implying excitement, visual information implying there was no reason for it). It's just... the little things Oh and the wording in the search "Who made Klei" is just a cherry on top I don't think I've often seen such great use of the youtube format in joke delivery. IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS. Brilliant. p.s. I am a bit sleep deprived, so that's why I'm writing all of this right now, but I thought of it in passing many times before while watching Orange's videos
I have literally never seen anyone talking about this game. I grew up with it, so I'm so happy that it's getting the recognition it deserves. (Psst, please do a video on Rigonauts. It's another obscure game I played when I was younger that's actually really good. I enjoy your style and think you'd do it justice.)
thank you for making me feel a gazillion years old. I played this game in elementary school on a cd which was part of a game magazine. now im thinking about whether that cd still exists....
This used to be my favorite childhood game, had no idea what was it called or that it was made by klei, thank you so much for this video and bless the algorithm
One higher up at Klei spent two month in jail after putting an employee into a meat grinder and eating him. "It is so funny that he is in my tummy" he said to the court as his plea.
I remember playing this on my xbox 360 like forever ago, and when i saw the thumbnail i was like "wait ive seen that before!" it was like 12 years ago when i last played
This was the game I used to play all the time as a kid!!!! I had no idea what it was called and figured it lost media but this is it!!! I can't believe i've loved Klei games since I was little.
