Eevee Heroes Pokémon Set: Pre-Order Update

The latest Pokemon set, Eevee Heroes, has seen unprecedented demand and something that Japan rarely ever struggles with: being able to fulfil orders. I've spoken to two people familiar with the Pokemon Supply Chain in Japan and both have said this is the least amount of product they've seen for a set which is incredibly anticipated.
With Eevee and its evolutions being at the very top of the most popular Pokemon out there, it's no surprise this set is seeing lots of demand, but surely the Pokemon Company knew this. Is it because more and more people are becoming interested in Japanese product? Is COVID still causing havoc on supply chains? Or is the production of TCG cards simply not matching that of the demand?

Of course, as soon as I upload a video The Pokemon Company makes a statement, here it is: The Pokemon Company (Japan) is sorry about this situation and have apologized for any inconveniences caused to customers could did not manage purchase products. Pokemon Card Game is generally in high demand, beyond their expectations and a lot of products have been out of stock. Since their announcement last year, they have been working to improve their production system, but they are very sorry that they have not been able to fully meet the needs of their customers. TPC has announced they will give top priority on delivering the desired products to their customers, continue to improve their production system and promote the reprints and shipments of sold-out products (also of previously released products).

Lol, I had the same thing happen. 1st time seeing Japanese allocations and wholesalers putting a stop to fulfillment. Fun times.

I think you're right about people moving from English to Japanese. I'm from the UK and I switched from English to Japanese at the start of the year, the card quality is better, the booster boxes are a hell of a lot cheaper - sometimes by more than half, and the pull rates seem to be really good as well. I know a couple of other collectors in the UK who have switched to Japanese as well.

Yeah I think you’re right, more people and leaning to Japanese. It definitely makes sense but I do wonder how much of a strain that puts on Japanese Pokémon

I read somewhere that it takes around 9 months to get a set printed from start to finish. So production would have started right in the middle of the pandemic. This may be part of the reason for the shortages, coupled with the increased popularity of the Japanese versions.

People are mass moving to Japanese product. Beyond the fact that it's impossible to find anything in English, people are realizing that it just doesn't make sense opening up English booster boxes when you can get more hits from Japanese boxes. Why pay $140+ for 1 English booster box when I can get 3 Japanese boxes for about the same price and get way more hits? It wasn't like this when booster boxes were under $100.

I haven't seen the secret rares if there are any but.. they don't even have VMAXs of all of the eeveelutions, am I missing something? Really don't like V card designs so seems lackluster

Alt arts and SRs have yet to be leaked. It’s only commons and uncommons with the VMAX special cards from the VMAX set which have been released! So far nothing amazing but I suspect there will be leaks in due time

I don’t think it’ll crash, there’s just too much demand around the TCG and the Pokémon company continuously puts out new and exciting products

You said that u sell all your booster boxes within 2 or 3 days. Well how many do you get when u sell out that quickly.

Japan just went back into lockdown, Japanese had a new wave of hype, the set was crazy over hyped in Japan alone.. and then the release was entirely botted 😁

Availability has nothing to do with oversee sales, as for Japan this market doesn't exist. It does say "not for sale outside Japan" on the products. Eevee is just really popular in Japan. So more people, Japanese people, want this set so that shops can't have enough stocks to fullfil the domestic demand.

It may say not for sale outside japan, but that doesn’t stop Plaza, Amiami, Miyami and third party companies from selling them. They sell thousands of units per day

Got an email from my Japanese seller that my order has been "fulfilled". I'm hopeful I'll get it but not getting my hopes all the way up until the package has been delivered.

I really hope you’re able to get some eevee heroes in. I’d much rather purchase through your store than a scalper on eBay. Fingers crossed you get more than you expect (and that I’m able to get some lol)

I feel bad for those that actually live in Japan / speak Japanese, and they cannot get Pokemon cards because people who live in other parts of the world and speak English are buying up all the cards despite (most) not being able to speak the language. I hope Pokemon International & Pokemon Company are able to figure this all out. Demand is great for the company no matter what, but man...

You shouldn't have to speak Japanese or live in Japan in order to appreciate Japanese Pokemon cards. Japanese cards are better quality. And IMO Japanese holos look much better than English holos (especially vintage). The blame is not on those who wish to appreciate new JP sets. It is strictly on the The Pokemon Company.

Yeah, as much as I would like to get the product, I would rather not have it if it meant I'm "taking" it from people in Japan. They should prioritize domestic demand first.

My case exactly. It very frustrating not to be able to purchase a set while living in Japan while some random dude get it in USA or other countries. Especially when using bots. It does say "not for sale outside Japan" on the products

Yeah it’s definitely disconcerting. However, this is the first time it’s happened. Speaking to people in japan every set which has released so far has been fairly easy to get. Sometimes on release it’s difficult, but after a week or so demand dies down. But I feel as though Pokémon ran into production problems because I’ve never seen stores have difficulty fulfilling pre orders before /:

It's falling backwards to the tag team gx issues, we had. But it was hit by bots so hard, I was on the pokecenter site for 10 mins, and it was completely locked up.

Oh yeah I was going to check to see if there was any possibility of buying a booster box for myself in case I didn’t get one from my supplier, and the site wouldn’t load for me 😅🤣

Definitely due to an increased demand for Japanese products. At the beginning of the year Japanese websites were selling booster boxes for between £27-£33 and now it’s around £45-65. The masses have realised that Japanese is the best and it’s driven demand and prices up.

@@micky2be I’m not talking about usual rrp at the Pokemon centre and other Japanese domestic sellers. I’m talking about the places a lot of westerners use like Plaza, Nin-nin etc.

Hey im in Fukuoka Japan right now, how much product should I buy of this? Im usually a sports guy but I think there's good profit to be made off this set right?
