Good reading needs smart note-taking. With it, you remember more of what you read, understand books better and form new, interesting ideas.
This 2-step system is dead simple to apply. The first stage helps you take effective notes to improve your comprehension. The second stage allows you to unlock the hidden power of your notes by letting them connect to other notes you might have. But why is this great? It enables you to create unique insights; ideas you can reflect over and be proud of sharing.
And the best part is, you can apply it to your current note-taking system, even if it's different. The basic theory of it is powerful, but simple, meaning you can implement it anywhere you wish.
Hope it helps you reach your goals!

It's priceless how your videos bring a soft yet sharp light upon better harvesting our own mental gardens without the heavy tilt of anxiety of not having it all together in perfect alignment since birth... a fictional turmoil some of us do carry and wrestle with :") The threads conjoining your ideas and your eloquence bring me joy to listen to and ponder about. Thank you for sharing a piece of your mind with us in such a creative form!

This is really helpful - thank you! After years of taking notes on lectures, presentations, books, film, conversations - and not always with any form of organization - the idea of atomic notes which you so well explained will help me pull it all together and make connections. I am grateful!

Recent subscriber of the channel (I assume I'll be here for a while though...) and I love the quality of content you produce. Your videos "How to Manage Multiple Interests" and "Mini Essays: The Ultimate Learning Tool" really spoke to me. It's been extremely helpful to have your advice on productive ways to INTAKE information. School provides us with vast amounts of information, but rarely are we taught effective ways to process and comprehend all the information given to us. This channel is a treasure trove for those who sincerely care about their education and have a deep appreciation for learning.

After watching a few videos from this channel the system I devloped for myself is to spend some time reading on my kindle in the day time, highlighting and marking parts of it with symbols, then importing those highlights into obsidian, handwriting my own words for the sake of of it, and then scanning my writing into obsidian

Do you think you should take notes on the first read through an epic poem? I’ve been told to read epics through the first time just to get the plot, and then again as many times as necessary to capture all the details; this makes sense, but sometimes I feel like the first read is a little mindless-almost like watching TV.

I struggle with this thought too. I wanna get the most out of my first read, but I'm afraid of losing the forest for the trees and all that. But then again, I'll only get to read many epics once through in their entirety, given their length, so I suppose it's better to make notes on style, theme and form in addition to plot when going through them

I suppose notes don't hurt as long as you can stay immersed in the narrative. Both approaches work, I'm sure

Literature notes are made during reading, correct? And do you do it directly digitally or with a pencil in hand in the book itself and later transcribe it to digital?

Great vid, you did it again. One question : at the end of this "process", you have produced a litt note, and several atomic/permanent notes, linked to this litt note. When you navigate your vault or the big graph, do you have made litterature notes "different" from "atomic/pemanent notes", at first glance? How to know when you find a very old note what is its type? Is it only with a reference inside to a book/article or do you use an other mean like color or tag or even a folder? Thx
@odysseas__
@odysseas__ 8 дней назад
Thanks. Literature notes are stored in a different folder to atomic notes, and this lets you make them different colours in the graph view. You can do this by going to the graph view settings, going to 'groups,' then typing path: + the folder name and then choosing a colour.

have you ever used notion for literature notes, atomic note or even developed there a system to upgrade your studying skills for material related to your career? i'm trying to improve my study system these days and i use notion, which helps me relate concepts (i study biology, and i'm sure i can probably develop a better one) and i was just wondering if you ever developed a system like the one you showed in the video for studying

Nothing as in depth as with Obsidian. The most I did was write down a list of topics for each subject I should be familar with, like a checklist.
