Hi Gary, interesting and thought provoking as always with your videos. I still have reservations about the "profit" figures which need to take account of the opportunity costs of the installation and the lifespan (replacement costs for the panels and, more significantly, the battery). I know you have covered this in previous videos but it might be worth considering incorporating these calculations into the overall' balance sheet'.

Hi Mike, thanks - and yeah I was careful not to use the word 'profit' in the video as this would require taking into account the expenditures you indicate. I'm working on a video on battery prices at the moment, and the utility that will come with it should allow such expenditure to be accounted for .

I'd love to see this taken a step further to estimate the pay-back time on the various options. That would answer questions like "is solar-only viable when daylight power is so cheap?" and "Will a bigger battery pay for itself?"

Hello would you recommend air heat pumps to replace a traditional boiler if you have Solar and battery installed ? Would that be more cost effective or worth it ? Just thinking of running the house of electricity only.

Hi Valerie, I've yet to start my heat pump journey, but I'd recommend a couple of my fellow RU-vidrs. Tim & Kat have had an air-to-air (A2A) heat pump installed for quite a while, and it's working well, and they're currently looking at a new solution for water heating: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YpVkPna4W7c.html And Oliver from Speak to Geek is just having a heat pump installed (air-to-water - A2A). I wonder how to control that. My battery is controlled by the inverter and I don't see the options to control the times. It just charge from solar and discharge at any time there's higher demand of electricity inside the house than solar can provide and on the nights

Do you know the make and model of both your battery and inverter?

@@GaryDoesSolar both huawei. I've seen tutorials online but it seems those options are locked to the end user and only the installer can change how the battery operates. When I log into the app I only get to monitor the system
