If you live in a high humidity and high heat area, gardening can be extremely difficult, but you are not alone. In this video I explain the transpiration process in plants and the impact of high humidity on garden plants. I also explain what you can do about it and what time of the year you should be focused on gardening, not in the summer! If you love to garden all year around, and you live in the USA, move to California, where they have the perfect humidity and temperature conditions to garden all year around :) I am kidding, but enjoy the video !

Thank you for explaining this!! I just started my first garden this year and couldn't understand why all my plants were struggling (or just dying) with fungus despite the fact I was careful to not over water them. This makes so much more sense! I'd started my garden in May just as the heat was really escalating.

Jeff, I find for tomatoes and peppers, it also helps to place them where they get less afternoon sun and more shade for spring planting. I'm in Galveston, TX. area.

Missouri is also very humid and suffers high heat. Average humidity often matches the temp. Many times I look at my weather station and it is balanced, lol, like 86% humidity and 86F at MIDNIGHT...Also, try holding the power button on your hydrometer - that will often flip it from C to F...

I'm getting good growth ( my tomato plants r like 5 feet high) but a week of oven like humid temps have stunted my fruit growth and many of my low hanging leaves are waterlogged and wilting. It's been hard to diagnose because the foliage isnt drying out or yellowing, the veins in the leaves are breaking and turning the leaf a dark black and wilting

I live in CO & the humidity here sucks. It's always dry, and my plants hate it. They're only happy when I have the humidifier going, but it's not super hot here. It's cold, especially during winter 🥶

Hey Jeff, well I wish I saw this video in July. Since we can't grow much in summer here in TX, I thought I would start some seeds in mid-late July thinking I could get a jump on Fall. Well, I planted pole beans. Yeah, shouldn't have. Too hot! Stressed plants with lots of bugs and no beans in August or September. Now that it is October, the plants that survived are producing. Shouldn't have planted in July. I will curb my enthusiasm next year and start in September to start my pole beans. Are you seeing a lot of moths this year? They are all over our yard and in my garden. I walk thru and move my bush beans and moths are just flying everywhere, making little green worms that are eating my leaves.

Thanks, Jeff! I'm in SoCal. I'm a newbie patio gardener. I have too much sun on my patio. I have to shade my tomato plants. My 2 favorites

Hi I brought my elephant ears in from the cold a few days ago and they are dripping water everywhere.. is that an indication the humidity levels are ideal or is there too much humidity?

I love this channel. So straight forward and full of good information. So what's the story? R u a retired CEO or somthing. The sluggish life of retirement was not enough, and after years of cultivating buisness and profit you now cultivate veggies? Applying the same methods on stock portfolios as tomatoes?

So if you were to give a load of fertilizers to plants in arizona, that would be ideal growing? Minus the fact you spend alot on fertilizer. Or wrong and if so, why?

Hey, what about the plants growing in the tropical environment ? How do they deal with the high heat and humidity because they grow just fine ?
