Effects of pulse fishing on the seafloor and benthos 

@@matchclock5 France and the UK pushed for a ban on it because it was too competitive for their own fishermen. If you think they banned it because of animal welfare you are a fool. Apparently, it's better to drag nets over the seabed, destroying it and causing massive bycatch. How does this weigh against the disadvantages of pulse fishing? It doesn't. Shame on the EU and animal welfare organizations to oppose this sustainable, eco-friendly innovation. Makes you wonder whether how they worked together on destroying this innovation.

@@MrInterestingWorld I have a small trawler and I would agree with you on some things but not all trawling is bad over fishing is very bad and the big vessels can do that very easy The biggest thing is what you are trawling for shrimp flounder and sole are ok the bottom is mud and sand and ever changing but trawling on rocky bottoms for cod is very destructive and slow to recover that way most places you can’t do that so they mid water trawl nothing on the bottom but the problem becomes over fishing that why we have a quota system and my boat has a quota and I have to stop fishing as soon as I get close to the quota the quota is set by fishers and oceans they set it by looking at the biomass and if it falls below what they want fishing is closed in the area for years until biomass returns And trawling is the only way to harvest a lot of things
