I found that my passing didn’t suffer. Passing percentages never wavered. Only thing that somewhat suffered until I got a feel for them was long shots. I’m glad I ditched the guides because I spend less time offloading the ball. I encourage you to try it in training and get a feel for it. It does help shaving those fractions of a second off when passing.
