I go there every month, I’m there this sunday. And fyi calling our precious Efteling “Dutch Disneyland” is wrong in 200 languages, and very insulting to the fans and creators (including Anthon Pieck). In fact, Disneyland took inspiration from the Efteling. NOT the other way around. So just call it “The Efteling, the world of wonders” because that’s the slogan
Well as regular of the Efteling, I think it is way better then Magic Kingdom but Animal Kingdom with Pandora or Diagon Alley at Universal are still better imho. And I would still choose World show case over an evening to the Efteling. Miss the summer festivals the Efteling park had in the past. Great video! :)
I hope you’ve enjoyed your visit at the Efteling. To offer you a bit of context, the Efteling is a trans-generational experience. Often you see grandparents, parents and childeren visiting the park at the same time because as Dutch people we’ve all spend some time of our childhood over there. Some of the rides/venues appear dated but that’s the appeal because I’ve walked the park there eversince I was 5 and now I’m 51 walking the same park and sitting in the same rides with my 10 year old daughter. For me it’s a powerfull experience. The Efteling is not a “wham bam thank you ‘mam” park, you go there to connect with your younger self, connect with childhood. The fairytale forrest is on the surface a bit cheesy but that’s the first place we went to when I was a kid, and I’m gratefull the Efteling left it as it is. To the Dutch the Efteling is an institition. As a family you just have to have eaten “krentebollen” in the floating swans in the swanlake. All the best!
The trans-generational aspect is very interesting indeed. Everytime I go on a ride in the Python or Piraña I remember me doing that as a small terrified child with my mother and grandparents (wanting to rebuild it in Lego afterwards). It's been 40 years and I can go on the same ride as in the early 1980s. It's amazingly timeless.
I live in Tilburg, about a 15 minute drive to Efteling. As far as i know my family has been in love with the park ever since it was build. I remember my mom telling stories about how my grandpa would spend the whole day just sitting in the big courtyard garden just past the entrance or strolling about the park. That would always make his day
I loved seeing this! i actually live 30 mins away from this beautiful place and actually worked at the work. To explain why everyone was singing along at the aquanoura show is because that was the show version of the most popular artist from brabant called guus meeuwis and basically everyone in the netherlands knows his classics. Glad you guys had fun!
It must be an amazing place to work. such a magical park. Thank you so much for the context on people singing. It was amazing to experience and you could tell that everyone knew the songs. Very unique and something we haven't really experienced at a park before. Thanks for watching :)
I also work at the Efteling and it really is magical and amazing to work there. I am so glad i started working there. Glad to see you enjoyed your trip to the Efteling!
I've always wondered how it is to live so close by the Efteling (i live like 1.5 hour away by train) like do you notice it much or is it just like living in any other city
I am Belgian (next to the netherlands) and I absolutely love watching videos of more foreign people discovering this magical themepark. I've been going here every year since I was 1 year old And I love watching new people enjoy it!!! Great video! :)
Personally I don't know anyone that has NOT been to de Efteling. It is the absolute QUEEN of themeparks in the Netherlands. It has been the #1 destination when it comes to parks and attractions for decades. Disney doesn't come close to this. Sure... it has great rides and famous characters, it doesn't have the "gezelligheid" the Efteling has (I am sure you heard about the word Gezellig which can mean a lot of things but without exception pointing to comfort, friends, happy times and love)
I went to Disney for the first time last year, and while Disney is really good too, Efteling is much better value for your money, especially if you're from the Netherlands
Unfortunately, as a Dutchie i have never been to the Efteling :'), first of all there is no money to buy tickets and second, not one of my friends wants to go there :')
Dutch traditional snack Chimney Cake? Now that you mention it I never ever heard of that. I have looked it up, it is actually Hungarian. 😂😂 I am dutch, so it was suprising how people can mix up cultural Standards because of how unknown they are to traditions. On the positive note, I absolutely love your review on our themepark, I love Efteling.
The chimney cake has found it's way in a number of surrounding countries, notably Czech Republic and Slovakia. They're usually pretty bad and in cities like Prague and Bratislava you'll thus find street waste baskets literally filled to above the rim with those things during tourist season. I can't remember having seen chimney cakes in Efteling before, my guess is that they are part of the winter theme (probably from the baker opposite of Max & Moritz?) which will end first week of March.
by far the best part about the Efteling is the music! The songs on these rides carry the magical theming so incredibly well. My favourite has to be the Villa Volta song
You 'accidentally' saw an Aquanura Exclusive show, which was made for a Dutch artist called ‘Guus Meeuwis’. They made that show because he was an artist for 25 years. They usually play a show without vocals with music of different rides from the park!
I am happy for you that it wasn't a busy day, I went there myself a few years ago with my parents, and we had to wait an hour or more to get into one attraction. I myself live about one and a half hour away from the Efteling. And to everyone who's watching: if you're planning to visit the Netherlands, I HIGHLY recommend going to the Efteling, even if you're an adult without any kids. I hope you guys had an amazing time at the Efteling
Hey! I work in the pancake restaurant and I helped you with the magical water, I recognized you on my RU-vid home page! Very fun video! Greetings from Holland:)
I always love seeing first time reactions to the park! Shame you missed out on quite a few attractions, but I guess y'all had an amazing time regardless. I LOVE getting in night rides on the coasters, they're even more magical in the dark!
Im dutch and went there a few times as a kid. The efteling in like a given ingrained in dutch culture but to see you guys with another fresh perspective makes it pretty special and magical again. Great vid and love the happiness you project!
Droomvlucht had just been open for a few days since I last visited, 25 years ago.. I have been watching this video on the edge of my seat, I was so excited to see the Efteling again! Thanks for making this beautiful vlog♥Efteling is still as magical as I remember and it was 'Awesome' to see some of the new additions which I haven't seen yet. Your son is clearly right about that! 😄
Nice to see. This park holds a very special place in my heart. If you loved the landscaping, I would definitely recommend coming back in summer when everything is green and all the flowers and plants are blooming. There's also quite a bit of construction going on now, which is a shame. Definitely come back when the new entrance area and haunted castle are done!
We’d love to see the park in the spring/summer. Although there was some construction it didn’t seem to bad as they were working on it during the weekend. We’ll be back when all the changes are made for sure ☺️
@@TheKershawsAdventures keep in mind that in the summer it's not only packed with people (waiting lines longer than an hour) but also with wasps! Better come back in spring. I loved your video. It was really nice to also see some new things, like the golden men 🤗
I am dutch too. I go with my kids twice a year. You should come back in July or August. For Summer Efteling. Now you went to Winterefteling. Summer Efteling is on every square music. So nice. So come back. Efteling is also open till about midnight
This makes my little Dutch heart jump with joy! I'm so happy you shared our magical theme park with the rest of the world! Dankjewel! Much love from the Netherlands! ❤❤
As a 61 year old Dutch woman I have never ever heard of a "traditional snack"Chimneycake and looking like that! And I want to know...WHY NOT??? It looks delicious
I just love how the Efteling is fun for the whole family. That's probably why you felt relaxed there. It's not just for the kids, but for you to enjoy and have a break as well.
Fun fact about Oliebollen en donets. When the Dutch came to the USA there was a shortage of oil so they made a hole in the oliebol so they used less oil to make them. These were the first donets.
A lot has changed at Efteling since my Mother and I were there almost 30 years ago; I have to admit that we were children again for the whole day, riding the Droomvlucht more times than I care to admit! The animatronics and the rides were something spectacular, even back then, and the Park seems only to have got bigger, better and more magical!
If you ever want to return to the Efteling and see Raveleijn, there should be headphones with audio translations available if you ask the staff at the gate!
Your son's reaction to everything was absolutely precious, I remember when i was a kid that I also spent a lot of time at the playground stuff there. More themeparks should just add playground stuff, such an easy way to entertain the kids
as a dutch person who has been to efteling many times, its so cool to see other europeans loving the efteling.. your excitment is fun to watch.!! you got to love that magical lore.. !!!
I loved watching this, seeing people enjoy the Efteling for the first time! I live only 15 minutes away so I had an annual pass for so many years I basically grew up there!
We’ve just got back to the UK from a 3 day trip to Efteling, the first time we’ve been. Wow. I can’t believe how amazing it was. The whole family have been blown away. Truly magical.
@@TheKershawsAdventures Also just another tip! If you go to the Efteling around the summer holidays the park is opened until 22:00! I usually go around that time because then you get to do more
No. The Efteling is older than DIsneyland. So Disneyland is the American Efteling, not the other way around. (in fact Walt Disney visited the Efteling before creating Disneyland ...)
Yea, we know, we just used the title to grab the attention of uk people who are not aware of Efteling as Disneyland has a bigger recognition in the UK. We want to draw more people to come an experience this park 😄 we mention in the vlog about Walt Disney visiting Efteling and that DLP consulted with Efteling when building
We used this title to get people from the UK who weren’t aware of Efteling interested as unfortunately it isn’t well known here compared to Disneyland. We know they are very different parks and Efteling has a longer history 😄 no offense intended ☺️
I remember the big orange fish was my absolute favourite in the world of fairytales, I don’t know why but it was just very cool to me. It brings back quite a lot of good memories from the park when I visit it and see the fish.
I guess your little man slept well, after this great adventure. For me as a Dutch person, the Efteling is the most beautiful theme park in The Netherlands.
This one looks good but no way near Disneyland Paris the opening hours of Disneyland is 10-9 and for guests staying onsite can . Go to the ride at 8 am . The atmosphere of Disneyland is amazing. This one looks like blackpool pleasure land . 😂😂 but it is good if don’t compare with Disneyland.
😆 you're not wrong!! We know that Efteling came before Disneyland but a lot of people in the UK don't know about this amazing park but do know about Disneyland. We used this title to get more people who don't know about Efteling to check it out. Because more people need to go there!!
The fairytale forest is mostly filled with tales from the Brothers Grimm. A lot of them are pretty dark and gritty really. Longneck, however, is taken from the Tales of the Baron of Munchhausen. He basically tells the story over and over. If you had visited in the warmer times, if they still do it, the plaza with the fountains with the frogs and such have multicoloured pidgeons you can get pidgeonfood for. Man... I got memories of that place when it was mostly just a giant picknick meadow, a playground and the fairytale forest, with just a few larger rides around it.
The best thing about the efteling is, there is no man or owner where all the momey goes to, the efteling is a charity and all the money earned with it goes to the workers and gets invested in new attractions. This makes the efteling better than disneyland.
We seem to have upset a few people with the comparison 😆 it’s been used to draw attention to people who are not aware of Efteling but are with the big brand of Disney ☺️ - hope you enjoyed the vlog
you must come back as you missed alot like other atractions as dreamflight(droomvlucht) and carnival festival (the dutch version of it's a small world) also next year there is a complete new part called dance macabre what was first a ghosthouse but now become a complete new area.
And you get to take your own food into the park! That's going Dutch on Efteling! BTW to experience the best magical forest vibes you should plan your visit to Efteling in late spring or summer!
you should really try other european parks they are really good Europa Park, Phantasialand, Energylandia, Bobbejaanland, Bellewaerde, Walabi parks, Parc Asterix are all fab.....
I absolutely love the vibe you guys have 🥰 Definitely going to subscribe! The Efteling is my absolute favourite place in the world. I am glad you had a fun day! I was happy to see you also went to the Lavelaar! Its one of my fave places in the park, together with the fairytale forest. Droomvlucht is my absolute fave. Too bad it was closed! I reccomend you come back for it 🥰 It’s a beautiful darkride! Thank you for the amazing vlog!
your little one reminds me of my nephew I remember when he was 7 we would watch TV he would be on my lap and fondle behind my ear 10 minutes later we were both vast asleep!
As someone who was born and raised in the region (its a 30 min ride to the Efteling), its safe to say this park is grained into my dna 🙂 Nothing but love and 40 years of memories ❤️
You say you feel like you’re in a park, but little do you know you actually are! Efteling’s land has a stipulation that only a certain percentage can be built on, making for a lot of nature inside the park
as a dutch person it always is so fun watching people from other countrys go to specifically this theme park, i have been there with my family and it just so fun
I'm Dutch myself and loved watching this video, it was very interesting to see people from another country expierence this Dutch themepark and I really enjoyed your reactions to it. Personally I live closer to another great themepark in the Netherlands called Toverland, you should visit it sometime if u can! I'd love to see your reaction to it because i've been there more times than Efteling so it holds a special place in my heart.
Really love seeing you guys experience this park, even without knowing what people were saying or what was going on, and still get the most of it. Wish I could've been like a tour guide for you guys and translate everything so you could expierence it maybe even better, and understand more of what was going on. The Fabula restaurant btw is a bit older restaurant. Efteling used to have a deal with WWF where they made a 3D movie about what is happening in the world with the hapitats of the animals. And when the movie is done you were led to this restaurant and a gift shop where most oif the profit went to WWF. But the contract expired and they had to change things up. So now you have Fabula, a story of a squirrel and a bear, where the bear learns to appreciate other animals more and be more kind to others. Hope you had a wonderfull time in the Efteling, and maybe come back when your son gets older so he can go into the Barron 1898
Thank you so much, it’s amazing getting to understand the park a little more. The WWF collaboration sounded amazing. We will 100% be back in the future as there were a few things down for maintenance as well whilst we were there.
