Egg trouble with breeding racing pigeons 2023 

I used to put 2 drops of iodine per gallon of water 2weeks before pairing them up

The dented egg if it hatches can we call him harvey dent?

Very disappointing breeding year so far but glad I'm not the only one struggling with the interfile eggs

A few unfertile but good overall! 👍 Acceptable percentage I would say for 1st round. Unfreezable, Ice Cold, Iron Shell, Unbreakable, all sound good, make it one of your fun contests! Happy Breeding, best of luck

Look for the air sac on top of the egg the narrow top of the egg. If you give your birds good grit and diet weather should not matter I believe .

James I have had issues this year as well with my first round not being filled. I even wasted some time letting a pair sit on their eggs for 18-19 days and didn't even think to check them. 😑

Yes it was very cold up here in nj I had one egg pushed out from the nest dead egg four eggs cracked from a crazy young cock and some of the eggs was empty but so far i got 30 youngsters banded. Good luck with this season breeding 👍

I got a few Infertile, too. I check them like 3 days after the 2nd egg is laid, and you can see the embryo developing. I don't wait for more than a week and just toss the infertile right away. Good luck with the breeding

Hey James, Happy New Year! Sorry about the eggs, hope the dented one makes it. The first one of my 2023 babies hatched here this morning. I'm realizing, that we're going to need to build another section to the loft.

So many things can go wrong with these cold spells. Hopefully you saved that one that fell out. I had one that fell out the day it was supposed to hatch this year. It was was cold to the touch but I put it back in the nest and it hatched late. So it was a little smaller than its sibling but it's doing well so far. Enjoyed the video update.

It’s tough breeding in the winter. Wish you the best of luck. My first round of eight pairs resulted in 6 young birds so far.

I've tossed many eggs into the pond this year. Mostly from fighting and being knocked put of the nest. Last year each pair stayed together, some fighting but no switching. Completely the opposite story this year.

I lost 6 eggs to being infertile. Hoping the second round has a better outcome. I didn’t even think of the weather factor. Most of my birds are 2022. Thanks for sharing.
