It's like, he makes robots because he wants to show off his prowess as an engineer genius. But actually he's 200% more destructive on foot, using his fists.
Given how fast he moves in the Chao gardens, & in the earlier games this wouldn't be a totally unbelievable scenario, but I would still totally love another game to let us have the chance to play as Eggman again.
