And we take a look at the new datacron set, and what looks pretty good at first glance.

Datacrons do help. They really do. My mods are not good, and I am usually outmatched 2-3 to 1 in +25 speed mods, and I do, on occasion, beat far superior players if they lack in the datacron department. Great video, guys!!!

They are definitely helpful just be careful not to over prioritize to the point that you destroy your ROI in purchasing them.

Datacrons can be a massive help 100%. I'm a F2P player at around 10.5M and been fluctuating between K1 and K2 with just 5 GLs. Recently unlocked Leia so sitting at 6 now. And that's to a great extent due to datacrons. I understand that many don't like them, but even as F2P I am able to get like 10-15 level 9's per set rotation, so it's honestly not as hard as many people think. All I do is farming my normal conquest refreshes (with the occasional 100c refresh), and spending some shard shop currency on mats. Many people seem to have this misconception of the idea that one has to whale to get a good chunk of datacrons, but that's really not the case. You don't even need a crazy good account to do this. Anyone who can clear sector 4 hard mode can do what I do.

I don't disagree with you - I don't personally use shard shop currency at all when I'm doing a datacron set, opting to only farm them from Conquest, and I typically get between 5-8 of them [depending on what I need]. I think the problem comes in when people over prioritize them and end up spending a very large amount of resources and/or money, not realizing that they aren't actually getting any ROI value out of it at a certain point.

@@Egnar Yeah that's a fair point. Some people definitely go way too overboard with that. But I personally only go for the 50 energy refreshes in conquest, with the occasional 100 refresh, and the shard shop currency. So nothing out of the ordinary tbh. I haven't done the math as it's hard to calculate whether a certain datacron contributed to a crystal gain - there's simply too many factors - but at the very least it doesn't seem to harm me in terms of crystals at all. But even if I just break even with the resources that I invest in datacrons, it still massively helps my guild in TW, so I'm happy to continue the way I did. But I have to admit that I also love the challenge in GAC. I enjoy going up against people in K1 that have all the teams and even more datacrons than I do, and still giving them a run for their money. Datacrons allow me to compete with these guys, despite my severe roster disadvantages. So sometimes I just put the ROI aside and just want to enjoy the challenge.
