LINK to Two Stage EGO Snowblower: amzn.to/3Hvxhf8 Single Stage EGO: amzn.to/3BWsUJ5 Hi Guys, this is the Ego Power 2-Stage Snowblower. It comes with 2 7.5 Amp Hour 56V Arc Lithium batteries, they weigh 6.4lbs each and a dual port charger weighing 5.85lbs. These are supposed to be the longest running and most powerful batteries of any snowblower on the market.
There’s no prime, choke and pull like gas snow blowers. There’s just one button that you press, hold down the handles and go. It is self-propelled so you don’t have to put any effort into pushing it. The clearing width is 24 inches and it can handle up to 20 inches of snow. On one charge, Ego says this unit can clear an 18 car driveway when moving 8 inches of medium density snow.
So how long the battery runs depends on how much snow and how heavy it is. I found that it lasts about 45 minutes which is great for my needs. Most of the time, I had the setting in the middle for the auger and drive. Basically don’t run it on turbo, use eco and lower settings and you’ll get a lot more battery life. The fuel gauge will show you how much battery power is left.
I hope you found this review helpful. If you did, give it a thumbs up and subscribe. I'll see you next time. Thanks for watching :)

As a petite woman and single home owner I was so glad to find this review. I did alot of research and almost was going to buy a gas snow blower but was afraid it would be too heavy for me. Your excellent review confirmed that spending the extra money and getting the Ego would be my best choice. I purchased one a few weeks ago and now am just waiting for the first major Pennsylvania snow.

I just bought this snowblower to replace my big old gas propelled snowblower after reading many reviews. As I live in Vermont and am a 66 year old woman with MS, I decided I really needed to invest the $ to buy something that could handle all of the types and amounts of snow we get here with less effort. Thank you for this very informative video…just what I needed to get started!

Well done and detailed review, thank you. Trick to preventing the scraper edge from rusting is to place the edge on small block of wood or a stone so that it can drip dry.

I have one of these and I live in NW Wisconsin. The EGO handled everything mother nature threw at me, and we get a good amount of snow. Not having to get gas, oil and the other issues of gas blowers is a no brainer for me. The cost of blower is very similar to same sized gas blowers without the yearly tune-ups, ect.

When I look at this video the ego appears to be throwing only a few inches of light snow. I would like it to show over 12 inches, preferably heavy snow to see how it performs. I have the ego lawnmower, hedge trimmer, leaf blower and they are all outstanding. From the reviews it appears the snowblower is also very good. Just would like to see it throw some "real" snow, especially at the end of the driveway where it is piled up from street plow and where it really matters. I currently use Ariens and they are outstanding.

I've found that it works OK up to about 10-12 inches of dry snow, or 6" of wet, depending on exactly HOW wet it is. If it's both wet and deep, I have used the "two pass" method, where I tilt it slightly so it doesn't choke on the input.

Good review. Since then, EGO has fixed the problems of uncontrolled moving chute and the possibility of freezing cables. The company is now using better set of the 28 li-ion 21700 batteries with >5000 mAh and high drain current (CDR) (i.e. >25 A) and low internal resistance for it's battery modules. These battery modules are now have a warranty of 5 years.

Bought one of these at the start of this winter as a backup to for my Ariens Pro 28, which is a beast but a joy to use (it also guzzles gas and I use non-ethanol cans which are now $26/gallon). Since I'm totally dependent on my Snowblower I felt I'd like to have something to use in event I had a problem with my #1. I also like the idea of having a 'grab and go' snowblower for small storms which I might be tempted to hand shovel. I've used the Ego twice. Both times there were about 7 inches of very wet heavy snow. It worked fairly well, though there was a bit of a learning curve. I tried to keep the auger in 'economy' mode to preserve battery charge, but had to boost it at times to keep the chute from clogging. I was pleased that it was able to handle the snowplow chunks at the end of my gravel driveway, though today it rode over the compacted snow which fell from my roof, and I had to do some hand shoveling which probably wouldn't have been necessary with my Ariens. The first snowfall, I did my moderate size gravel driveway and paths on one charge of the 7.5s. Today, the batteries died when I was almost done. I had purchased another set at a great price on Ebay and finished up on those. The 10 amp option wasn't available when I purchased mine on sale and I frankly thought it might be better to have two sets of 7.5s than one set of 10s. I put on Armorskids, which I also have on my Ariens and can't recommend enough for anyone with a gravel driveway. I also got the drift cutters which are a ripoff but I thought they'd add a little weight up front. My current feeling on this is that I'm glad I still have a gas blower. I'll see how this does on a big Maine storm (3+ feet), but it just doesn't seem very heavy duty compared to any of the gas blowers I've owned. I also noticed that the fan is held in place by a cotter pin. Hoping that's not going to be a problem. I think this would be best for people with modest snow removal needs who want something light and easy to maintain, or as a backup for a bigger gas blower. It's certainly a lot of money for what you get. BTW - I also have a single stage Ego which I use for my deck. It's great for that, though it's really just a glorified electric shovel.

Thanks for the review. Great bc I'm trying to get something that my wife could use, if I'm not home d/t work. This is simple compared to gas machines. when done, use a blow dryer, portable heater to melt off the snow. Then, dry it and spray it with a spray oil/grease. Store it on a piece of wood or something. I think for a small property that this thing is OK or for backup in case I'm not home. But my driveway alone is 2400 sq ft and the side walk is the standard 4' wide X 100' long. so about 2800+ sq ft. If we get even 8", that's a lot of work. 8" X 2800 sq ft of "Fresh snow" = 6k--8k lbs. Settled snow would be equivalent about 20klb. Wet snow could be anywhere from 40,000 lb to even 80k lbs. That amount of work doesn't change dependent on the machine. There is no way I would believe that machine could even come close to the abilities of an Arien Deluxe 24". But, like I said, easy, light weight, convenient is what you get for the electric one.

@MrMike-fn4hi Год назад
@@bestkitchenreviews If you request that upgrade kit they will state that it is not needed on any of the new units as they have been re-designed. You can still install it but it makes moving the chute VERY difficult. As you showed you can adjust the cable tension and that fixes it. Also, our batteries will do that if they are stored outside and you work them hard. We just keep them inside until ready to use and no red ring issues again. Also, when stored inside they seem to last quite a bit longer in the machine. From your video I can see the machine digging in and jerking, ours also had that issue. From the factory the skates are adjusted level with the scraper bar, there should be a bit of a gap. If you put 2 nickels on top of one another and each side of the scraper bar and lower the skids that jerking won't happen as much. We are up in CT and have had our's for 2 winters now. No issues once we learned to keep the batteries inside and adjusted the skids. Thank you for the review! Fingers crossed for a mild winter!

* Battery Life - to greatly extend the life of your batteries, store then at 50% in the offseson. All lithium Ion batteries will degrade much faster if they sit at 100% charge or 0%. They like being between 20-80%, with 50% being ideal. P.s. this also applies to your smartphone, laptop etc

I spent over $300 in servicing and maintenance on my gas snow blower last season. I'm sick of the $40/gallon of jet fuel for storage, oil changes, carb cleaning, pull start ropes breaking, having to use an A/C cord to start, etc... Thank you again for your great review 👍

If you can, get the blower with the 10AH batteries first, then the rest of the tools without batteries. I use them in the blower, a weed wacker and a 650 CFM leaf blower. My lawn mower is still good so I'll wait a little. Last winter in Montréal I used the leaf blower several times to clean the car, driveway, side walk and patio. It is a little heavier with the 10AH battery, but a shoulder strap does the job for me.

They need to make one with tracks not wheels, that does not look tough enough for my place and how does it do with the plough that goes by often - 8 inches of snow is not a real test where I am in Canada. Id like to see that thing take on 18 inches of snow and a pile left by a plough of heavy awful stuff. What you got there I would not even bother firing up my machine, I would just take a shovel and whip that off in a few minutes.

Thanks for reviewing the EGO SNT2405 2 stage snow blower and sorry that you have to deal with a defective battery. That must be frustrating. It is a great snow blower with all the benefits you mentioned. EGO also have a SNT2406 model that comes with two 10.0Ah batteries rated at 24 car spaces at 8" snow and runs averagely about 75 minutes and comes with two 550W rapid chargers. The inline cable adjuster is the long cylinder part that has the marking and the small nut is to secure it once the adjustment is done. I found the laziest and most effective way of clearing the entire snow blower is put my space heater on low and face the snow intake housing in the garage. Apply a few coats of Turtle wax ceramic spray over the entire machine and the chance of clogging or snow build up is dramatically decreased. I would suggest to avoid discharging snow against the house as it may cause basement water damage in spring time. Thank you for such detailed video, really apricate it.

Correction. Thanks for another recent video which shows the inside look of the 10Ah? EGO battery module. These 28 Samsung 3.7 Volt 25R 18650 Lithium Ion Batteries (2500 mAh each) (when connected together) should only give about 52V and 5000mh (5Ah) capacity. Each battery is label as Samsung INR18650-25R. Two groups of 14 batteries (connected in series) are connected in parallel. Of course these Samsung batteries have lower internal resistances whereby they require no "secret cooling wraparounds" as used in the older EGO battery modules. EGO should have use the slightly larger Samsung INR21700-50S with the spec. of 3.6V 5000mAh 35A. Only then, EGO will be able to use the "10Ah" label. But will these 28 INR21700-50S batteries fit inside the present case? By the way, I was going to order the EGO 2 stages snow blower with 4 10Ah battery modules. Now, I am not sure.

I was disappointed that at about 9:58 it looked like it bogged down in the deeper snow and you cut it at that point. I would have liked to have seen what its limits were. It seems one disadvantage is that it must be lighter than the gas-powered blowers, and weight is important for traction in snow. I wouldn't be surprised if some extra weight, maybe even a strategically placed sandbag, might actually help it.

That’s what I thought too but I think that was the full width of her driveway, that’s actually a snowbank where she cuts the shot

I now am reading that these early models have an issue with the directional Shute. I can see the Shute cables in your video that have to much slack causing the problem. A fix by ego was a screw assembly to shorten it. But I read they are freezing Have you dealt with this issue? Thank you

Reviews almost always miss this part. Where can you get the machine repaired should that be required? If you take it back to Home Depot they will ship it to Atlanta, and you will not see it for quite awhile. I ran into this when I had an EGO mower.

Thanks for the review. We just bought one of these and is there a way to actually turn it right off other than unplugging the batteries? If the batteries are left in the machine then it will self propel forward if the lever is pushed.

Great review! $1300? What I would give to live in the US. Up here in Canada, where we generally pay more than 40% on all commodities compared to the US, this unit retails for $2200.

I just received mine. Question: is it normal to hear a screeching sound when you let go of the handle and the blades stop rotation? The sound is similar to a miter saw when it's blade stops. I'm thinking it's just an electric brake of some sort but just want to be sure it's normal and mine isn't defective. Thanks

Looks like it does a pretty good job of clearing 5" of snow, but you're using primarily coal and natural gas to charge your batteries, so I'm puzzled how these save the planet?

Hi looking for a snowblower I have a large space. long walkway to the house , and sidewalk in front and on the side ( corner house ). After having it for a season would you still recommended it? It's pricey but all 2 stage blowers are I feel that is what I need

Thanks for the review! Out of curiosity, how do you feel the self-propelled motor would handle a pretty steep incline in our driveway? My partner is also petite and we're hesitant between the lighter 21" model that is not self-propelled or this one that is considerably heavier but has the self-propelled feature. Thanks!

We have a steep incline on our driveway as well, and self propelled is definitely needed....we actually picked up the Toro 24" 60v yesterday...will be delivered tomorrow...for the past 14 years our gas ariens has done great, but it's the only gas powered yard machine we had left....so, fingers crossed.

Great video. I just want to clarify one thing. This machine can control the speed of BOTH the auger as well as the wheels. Everytime you mentioned Turbo Mode it looked like you were struggling to keep up. Turbo Mode is the auger speed. In those instances were both the auger and wheels at full speed? Thanks.
@bestkitchenreviews
@bestkitchenreviews 2 года назад
Thanks! Yes, I understand both speeds can be controlled. When I was doing the sidewalk, it was set at the highest for both. For the end of the driveway, speed was at medium. If it looked like I was struggling, it’s because I’m petite and physically not very strong 🤣 I’m sure the videos with men make it look like a breeze 😁

Update!: I forgot to mention that I, myself, would NEVER want to create a situation where, about every 3-to-5 years, I would need to spend SO MUCH MONEY for battery replacement. I mean, THAT'S a ton of moolah coming out of my Social Security money... $600+ for the two. WHEW! Now, if a body is living where you might need to snow throw (to say snow BLOW is really a misnomer- the snow is really THROWN out the chute_ I think! lol And guess what? Seri just told me a 'difference' between a THROWER and a BLOWER, so there MUST be such a thing, right? I do not trust Seri lately.😂🤪) only around twice a season, the batteries MIGHT last you around seven years or more- I DOUBT it due to most folks really not having a clue how to maintain rechargeable batteries - DO YOU? And if you get that TON of snow each year... I"m talkin' to YOU, North and South Dakota, and Wisconsin and Michigan... maybe Ohio? - hee hee... you will be LUCKY to have the batteries last three years. They can recycle (Charge/Discharge/Charge/Discharge) a certain number of times before going POOF. In 2018, I got one of the top-of-the-line 3-stage gas snow throwers by 'TORO', my fave company for such gas-powered devices. And what I DID just before purchase (been knowing the store for 22+ years at the time) just might be something for you good people to think about during YOUR next purchase of said. Just before handing my card to Pete, the store owner, I said something like, "Tell ya what. You include FREE pick-up, servicing and delivery back to me every year, and it's a deal, Pete." He responded, "Hmm_ how 'bout every TWO years?" I agreed, and the guy actually did this for me two years later, and will be doing so later in the warmer part of this year. Pete is a GREAT guy. I am so thankful, I will most likely give him maybe $20 to cover the fuel for his truck, and a small amount for the driver Pete has to pay him for the work. Okay_ done with the update, y'all. Please tell as many as you can think of about this wonderful channel. I am SO happy I found it, it makes me want to sing and dance - but it can scare the cat, so I watch out for him!🙀 = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Does hubby KNOW how fortunate he is to have you in his life?
