The mechanism for directing the snow works by pushing down on the green knob while turning and the two position speed switch just needs a little WD-40. Mine now works fine. You really don't want it to turn too easy otherwise it might move when you are using it.
After watching this review, I ran out and bought this in January. I'm so glad I did, I've used it at least 15 times since then. I used it in a foot of snow on Saturday - pretty impressive. Usually we get the driveway, front sidewalk/pathway and still plenty of battery. If the planets align, I also do the neighbors sidewalk to my left and right. Side note, I'm upset with how much I like the EGO products as I'm all in with DeWalt, including the lawn equipment. At least I can buy more attachments for this head unit to use it during our short summer.
Thanks for sharing Santos I was a dewalt fan as well and I still have some of their products, but I love the one EGo battery 🔋 that works for all of their tools and it’s one of the best batteries in the industry. Enjoy and best of luck
I'm in a similar boat re: Dewalt vs. Ego. I have a bunch of 20V Max XR gear: drill, oscillating multi tool, orbit sander, circular saw, jigsaw, string trimmer, hedge trimmer, & leaf blower. At this point I'm super tempted to pick up the new Ego PH1420 + trimmer kit (I think it's MST1603) to replace my dewalt trimmer; then down the line, grab the Ego edger attachment (maybe they will release a new version for the new Power Head?), then probably pole saw, and power brush. Seems like Ego is just the better choice for outdoor equipment whereas Dewalt is still great for tools. And I do still really like my Dewalt hedge trimmer and leafblower -- those have enough power for my needs so those will stick around
Did a lot of adjustments Weight distribution and found my way .If your a right handed keep your tool on left side , right hand on the handle and left hand on the trigger and it will help with shoulder strap too. Give it a try, hope it will help.Addition for carrying , I installed used weed eater handle below the joint connection it depends how you like it to position for easy carry,so theres two handle one for pushing and one for carrying.
It’s good to know it can do the job on the low setting. This is something I would look at getting as our snowfall is hit and miss and amount of snow when it does varies also. So buying a big blower is not cost effective. I will be getting this for my house.
I bought it this year but have not used it yet. I have a double wide driveway with the house next to the driveway. I use a 4 foot pusher snow shovel to move the snow from near the house to the other side of the driveway. Rather than lift and throw the pile of snow I will use this blower to blow the snow onto the grass. Thanks for your review.
Just got mine a couple of weeks ago. Ace had the kit with battery and charger on sale for an amazing $100 off briefly, so I grabbed one. It's much heavier than I thought. I'm considering getting the shoulder strap. You have to press the chute knob before turning it. It locks by design to keep it in place. The picture on the knob literally shows you that. Pro tip: keep the battery end against your shoulder and push it with your feet, not your arms.
@@TechMadeEzy yeah I got the kit for $299! It was the week of black Friday - available via online purchase with store pick up only. The deal became unavailable everywhere on Ace's site within 48 hours.
So the snow you are throwing is heavy and wet. Which makes it harder for any snow removal machine to throw the snow. The fact that this is doing this good a job in these conditions makes me think it is a worthwhile purchase.
I ordered this a day or 2 before I saw snow shovels with WHEELS and was sad to find out too late. Having wheels, you could raise the front end over the bumps. No lifting.
Did you have any problems getting this attachment to lock to the multi head? I just received mine this week and the two parts will not lock. The final position of the two parts relative to one another looks like yours with the same gap between the end of the multi head and the label on the attachment. I measured the length of the splined shaft relative to the plastic end of the attachment and it is about 1/16"+ longer than my other attachments so that appears to be the problem.
I love all my ego stuff, but this is one where I dont see the point. Seems more work than simply using a push shovel with wheels like The Snowcaster. Footprint seems way too small so it will take several passes. I have the multihead tool with the grass trimmer attachment and it is very heavy and uncomfortable to maneuver. It really is way more work than simply pushing the snowcaster.
Good for up to 4 inches only, that plastic is questionable though and ego should have improved the ergonomics. Anything less than an inch and the bristle brush is perfect in that department
Would love to see a comparison/heads-up between this and the bristle brush attachment. I've been thinking of getting the bristle for light days before this came out.
I've been wondering about this and I must say I'm impressed. I've shoveled several inches of that wet and icy stuff the past couple of weeks and I know the work involved!
Can it be used for hardwood deck and steps , I have 12 long strep to my home and extended deck..I bought the MST 1603...Winter is on the horizon, so thinking to buy the snow shovel. Also are they bringing new model for snow shovel with carbon fiber? Thank you for all the ego vedios...
I sure enjoy your videos guy. I am considering the multi head system myself . I alreay bought the weedeater, mower and 2 stage snow blower. I made the switch this year due in part to your demo videos. Thanks for sharing and for being so in depth and thorough.
If you can update which you like better between then bristle and this new one? I've been wanting the bristle for light snow days then this new one just came out. Not sure which is better
Thank you for this helpful video. Kinda disappointing Dewalt is late in developing their snow removal tools, I might end up getting this one and maybe invest other EGO 56V tools.
Just bought the multi-head snow shovel kit (MSS1203) from Canadian Tire for $500. I already own 4 other EGO products so have two 2.5A and one 7.5A battery.
I could not try mine yet, cause figured the foot of wet, heavy, snow would clog it up as was rough on a regular snow blower. You are supposed to PRESS down on the knob to turn direction.
The problem is nobody is selling just the bottom u have to buy the power head and attachment together.I have the power head was interested in just the lower
Right now yes but recently they were available. Stay tuned and watch our feed when I see them become available I will post it on the channel. I believe around $169
Bravo EGO !!!
I just came in from the Bomb Cyclone 3” snow so -9 deg dictates light, dusty snow accumulation but this isnt my first winter using my 650mph Ego Leaf Blower for 90% of my snow blowing needs. Best are my outside cars. Touchless snow removal every time with my Leaf Blower. This blower on the roof for gutters or leaves in fall,…perfect! And boy do I love “Boost” mode! I have 5 other Ego products so battery life never an issue….especially the 10 Amp beast battery. Forget the shovel,…the newer 2022 Ego Blower is offered now with MORE power. Crazy! Our Chicago snows are a joke. I did get the single stage 2112 metal blade snow blower for deeper snow levels. Haven’t used it yet,…but two more 5 Amp batteries! HA!!
Yeah, take it from a professional, this thing kicks! Does a great job on this heavy snow. Id look at buying one if I didn’t have the stihl paddle broom already. Heck I still may look into it for the house.
I live in Australia, so excuse my ignorance. Is this something you have to do everyday? My whole life I've seen people from the USA do this kind of thing but never really understood the ins and outs of it.
Depends on your pavers. If you have "sticky-outies" you'll have a problem. If they're very secure it'll be okay. I did snag one of mine but that was my fault.
It was $399.00 it went on sale for $299.00 so i bought it and it had a faulty handle out of the box Ego replaced it. Have used it like 6-7 times now and its only good if you have a perfect driveway no debris , leaves tiny pebbles or it jams like crazy and it also jams with snow numerous times and its Heavy and Ego should include the carry Strap. And truly I would not Recommend buying at all ! Wish i never purchased it!
