Join us as we embrace all things Nubian in this first episode based in Aswan. The Philae Temple, The Nile, The Nubian Village, Ancient Souks, and traditional cuisine await. ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 22 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 18 years, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

What a charmed life you are all leading. To be able to see Egypt with Curtis is a gift that I would love to have had. He has so much knowledge that it seeps through his pours. I don't lead such a magical life. I live in a small slumlike apartment. I have disabilities and have to try to live on $11,000 a year. I have no way out of my horrid life except to travel and dream by watching all of you so thank you for this escape.

Carole I have been bedridden for the past 3 years with multiple illnesses and it has recently gotten worse. I commiserate and echo your situation. However I feel blessed to have found such lovely people who have chosen to share wonderful things with us, so we may feel a part of good things. Living vicariously is sometimes a good thing - we don't have the hassle of packing - flying - sweating - over spending... LOL 🤣 Hang in there! Big Hugs! ❤

@@lisaakinlabi And no jet leg, exhaustion, dragging luggage around, aching feet, legs and back, battling crowds, standing in lines, listening to people's kids cry and scream and make racket, covid tests, etc. I understand what you mean about being bedridden and feeling unwell. I also live vicariously through You Tube vloggers. Chateau Diaries, Kinging It, Nicki Positano, Leave Everything & Wander, Jonna Jinton are my faves.

All of you chateau people, with Curtis, the talented guide and historian to Egypt, in great places with all these bright colours and charming locals. Steve looking great in blue local dress! It´s early morning for me here in the south of Sweden. The full moon was shining in the night, and now the sun. I have been to fascinated Egypt just once, with my son and daughter and their swedish father several years ago. My son was six and a half, daughter four. Now they are 33 and 31. We saw Cairo, the pyramids, Louxor, took a boat over the Nile to the Valley of the kings, to the tombs, especially Tutankhamon´s, and then we went to the temple of Hatshepsut. Unforgetable. The kids were small but absolutly loved it, they noticed many details and were very brave in the heat. I´m waiting to see more of your journey.

Thank you for this incredible vlog episode. I have been in love with Ancient Egypt since I was about eight years old. I even memorized the hieroglyph alphabet when I was eleven. I am 76 now, and probably won't ever get to go there, but thanks to RU-vid I can see all the monuments and continue studying the history and language. The trip is even better with Curtis, who I follow, and the other chateau owners I also follow. It is as though my whole family is on vacation together.

Ah Vivienne-I wish we were more than virtual friends-for I’d like to have said, I’ll take that fabric, and that long dress, and that beautiful necklace with amber and camel bone-while you were shopping. I am enjoying ALL of the videos from the chateau group. Egypt was on my dream list but I think I’m past the dream time now-and can just enjoy other’s trips virtually. Had a fabulous holiday in Morocco this past spring, with a chef from Sausalito, CA-and it was really too much for this 82 year old body!! I’ve enjoyed Curtis’s commentaries, loved the architecture and hieroglyphics, the repartee amongst the chateau owners..what a wonderful trip! Thanks for all the great videography.
