I love this song! Since I'm the only electric guitarist, I have to incorporate a little of all of the parts you guys are playing. And having a heavy metal background, in the chorus I just do power chords with a semi-high gain tone that really sounds awesome! You guys sound great!

This sounds amazing! I love this song! I want to learn how to play it on electric guitar and I think rewatching this video many times will help me learn. Thanks for this video! By the way, what guitars are you using and how much were they? I think these are the best sounding electric guitars I have ever heard!
@JoeMcDaniel
@JoeMcDaniel 4 года назад
The top guitar is a Veritas Custom Guitars Portlander, I had it made for $2,750. Hard price to swallow but it is such an AMAZING instrument. The bottom guitar is a Gretsch Electromatic G5435, I think these go for $600 new. Mine is Chinese made and has it's drawbacks although I love the way a Gretsch sounds. Hope this helps! Have fun learning!

where is the tabs??
@tylerbuckner3750
@tylerbuckner3750 4 года назад
Listening to the soloed EG1 track and it sounds like they've doubled the lead @2:34 in the final mix. They are octave intervals but sound like 2 separate leads, not traditional octave slides. Don't get tripped up trying to imitate the exact sound unless you have multiple guitarists to play the leads separately.
@tylerbuckner3750
@tylerbuckner3750 4 года назад
@Gene Kelley As a full time worship leader and music director, my job is to guide our musicians in their technical pursuits. While unsolicited, it was not a criticism but a suggestion to any worship guitarists watching who were trying to reconcile the difference of this version with the tracks that are commonly used. I was trying to save players some undue stress in trying to figure it out. I was saying the exact same thing you were. Basically, "He's playing it this way (which is great and will suffice), but if you're following the track it will sound different." If I'm not mistaken it IS filmed in a tutorial fashion, not a "this is my version" format. Hence my advice...

This is awesome! I noticed your Gretsch is heavily modded. When you replaced your Bigsby, was it a direct drop in? Or did you have to change where the screws go? Looking to do the same mods for a Korean made Gretsch!
@JoeMcDaniel
@JoeMcDaniel 4 года назад
Thanks man! Mine did not line up exactly, although I was able to take off the hinge part near the strap button and install it backwards to make it fit. I did a bunch of research before I tried doing this. I found that people were having different results. Some had theirs line up but others didn't, so I just bought a B70 model and just tried it. My advice would be to make sure you measure. The holes don't seem to be very consistent, and also it depends on what model you want. For some reason, a B7 and a B70 model have different dimensions, so one might fit better. Bigsby has blueprints with measurements of all the models on their website that should be helpful. Good luck! Haha

Hey Joe I want to do the same B50 to B70 swap on the exact same Gretsch as yours in this video plus about three others. I hear you on the tailpiece hinge flip to make the length match, but how did the two screw holes on the B70 match up to the ones made for the original B50? Also, were the pickup covers waxed onto the Filter’Trons or was that an easy swap? Any help here would greatly appreciated. You could do a video on your conversions and it would prolly be huge! LOL
@JoeMcDaniel
@JoeMcDaniel 4 года назад
@@bretthutcheson5710 The screw holes on the top of the body matched up perfectly fine, the only thing you might have to worry about is the tail piece fitting or not. As for the pickup covers, they are easy to swap, they are held on with some solder on each side, so if you have a soldering iron, you can heat up the solder and they come right off. IIRC they were wax potted but that didn't make it any harder to remove them. Also, it seems that Blacktop Filtertrons are not the same dimensions as regular filtertrons. They are close though. The covers I bought were regular filtertron covers but they don't come down all the way down on the pickup, although I was still able to install them. I'm here if you have any more questions!

Hey Joe, I'm getting ready to do the same Bigsby swap from B50 to B70 on the exact same Gretsch G5435TG. How did the holes line up for you with the B70? Did you have to drill new holes on the bridge end or did the original holes for the B50 line up the same for the B70? Thanks for your help!
@JoeMcDaniel
@JoeMcDaniel 3 года назад
Awesome Brett! Mine came up a little short, I remedied it by taking the end piece off (strap piece) and flipping it around. That gave me enough clearance to be able to screw the end piece into the body. I did a bunch of research before I did it, and found conflicting info. Some people were doing the same and the holes were right on, others were not. I guess the holes aren't very consistent, although I find that hard to believe assuming that these are likely mass produced. I recommend looking on bigsby's website. They have the dimensions of all their products on there, it could help you out. Another thing to note is that a B70 and a B7 are not the same dimensions for some reason. So if a B70 doesn't work out for you, maybe a B7 could. Good luck!
@bretthutcheson5710
@bretthutcheson5710 3 года назад
@@JoeMcDaniel Thanks so much for the info. One more thing. The B7 has a big hole in the hinged bracket to accommodate the strap knob. The B70 doesn’t have that. What did you do with the strap knob? Did it line up with the small middle hole in the B70 hinge or did you have to redrill/reposition the strap knob? Does the knob even fit in that small middle B70 hole?
@JoeMcDaniel
@JoeMcDaniel 3 года назад
@@bretthutcheson5710 Yes, as far as the strap goes, the B70 comes with its own strap button and screw you use to install it. It lined up with the hole well
