These "scholars" often conflate modern chattel slavery and the ancient eastern concept of servant/slave which are not the same. The use of of the collected scriptures in the bible to validate chattel slavery does not invalidate them.

It’s a matter of giving to support the church, missions, community, etc. and not letting money be your ruler. If you think that’s a bad thing, you are entitled to your opinion. However, you should know that sewing and reaping is a universal law, not just biblical, and there have been studies that have shown the psychological benefits of giving, just another example of science catching up with the Bible. The word slave is used about 1100, times. The reason you don't see it in the king James version is because they translated slave to servant. Don't believe me ,Google the word slave in the old testament using Hebrew as the language.
