heads up to my fellow droptuning bass wizzards: my Freeze pedal doesn't work with low-boosted signals under 40Hz, so it may not be particularly suited for drone music with bass tuned below standard E suggestions for suitable alternatives are welcome:)
Actually the majority of bass demos are not slap, most hobbyist bass players suck as slap bass. Sadly this fact doesn't stop people from whining about slap in the comments of every single bass demo.
So from my understanding this pedal quite literally “freezes” into whatever finger position you were playing upon activation. Really cool, in a sense you almost don’t need a backing track.
Gorgeous work! Thanks so much for showing this pedal working on bass, I'm interested in using it on bass but I haven't seen any other reviews that try it out. Now I know it sounds fantastic at high and low registers, so I can confidently get the pedal!
Great! I'd like to see that pedal working with a volume pedal. Why don't you make another review using a volume pedal and Freeze, trying to simulate a double bass bow?
@ FreeTheInternets - You can sometimes get that unintentional effect if you don't time the freeze properly...Took me awhile to get used to it. They are fun pedals to have for sure.
Seems like a really cool pedal but how do you stop the note sustain? To my understanding whenever you tap the footswitch it sustains the notes you were playing the moment you tapped it. So in case you want to end the effect what do you do?
Just put it after all of your dirt pedals....I like it before my modulation and delay, but just put it after whatever you don't want it to be affected by...Unless you're inferring that it doesn't "freeze" distorted tones good....have to have the volume down alot on the unit for it to "blend in".
pretty neat demo! does it really stop the last note and start the next note at latch mode at the same time? by pressing it only once? seriously thinking about buying it. so i would be really thankful for an answer.
+Julio Campos +christopantz lol no it's definitely not that Adam Clayton sig. It's an MIM sage green Fender Jazz with a Mark Hoppus P-Bass neck (rosewood fingerboard), Badass II bridge and Duncan SJB3's
it sounds good on clean bass but put it in a pedal chain with some high gains and it will cause a lot of NOISE! just saying cos all the demos are clean. :-)
@@choppytde6030 Mine has its own power brick and it can only be used post overdrive/distortion. Even with it own PSU if you feed it into a distortion pedal you're gonna have a bad time with audible digital "whine". On a different note, i wish theyd put a modulation circuit in the freeze for the frozen part. its so goddamn dry and limits its usefullness. The freeze in the reverb pedal they do is probably more what im after.
@@Scotty_Russell_Music I put it almost directly in the front of my chain and I don't have a problem with it, interesting, I have a Dwarfcraft Great Destroyer fed into a CNZ Octopuses fed into a Boss SYB-3 fed into the Freeze and then the rest of my chain
@@choppytde6030 to be fair i have 22 pedals on my board (with a loop switcher system) and im very particular about keeping the noise level acceptable to my tastes. I made my opinions about where the freeze went in the chain in the pre-loop switcher era. The loop switcher made an epic difference to the noise floor.Im having great results with a FAME DCT 200 power supply for the gain pedals, in particular the ability to "trim" the voltage which has helped a few gain pedals run the quiettest they've ever been.
the freeze has the psu it came with, ehx also says its not tru-bypass as "the momentary nature is too quick for a try bypass and therefore works better with a buffered digital bypass" which always made me a little suspicious.
