Getting 4.0 doesn't mean you are got 100 throughout. It means you've gotten As throughout. It is that simple. Every A you get attracts a grade point of 12 (for those using the 4.0 CGPA), and reduces by 1.5 as you get lower grades. So B+ is 11.5, B is 10 etc. At the end of the semester, we add all the grade points you have accumulated and divide it by the total credits (the number of hours attached to each course). That gives you the Cumulated Grade Point Average (CGPA) at the end of the semester
You can always tell the difference between Ghanaians who learned to speak English in the latter years of their childhood and those who began speaking English as toddlers. Even UG degree will not hide that
Simply put, if you’re able to attract a gpa below 1.0 then you don’t deserve to be in the school. There’s no excuse man…you can defer your course if you don’t like it or your strength is not up to the course.
Knust 70-100 is A but it’s not that easy to get that… the exams wouldn’t be simple fr u to get that… their questions are very difficult almost compared to UCC standard….
Well I don't know how things are done in Ghanian universities. But Nigeria..this is a normal thing. Once your CGPA is less than 1.0 in any Nigerian university...then you are gone. In fact... When you log in to the university portal, you will get a notification that , you are no longer a student due to academic incompetence. This is normal in Nigeria.

2010 CPGA for the UG sciences to stay in a particular department was 2.5 and 1.5 to stay in the school. I'm shocked it's being lowered to 1.0 to stay in UG now.
In some institutions, you'd have to get at least 1.5 to progress to the next level. If you get between 1 and 1.49, you're demoted & those with below 1.0 are withdrawn/dismissed. The sad thing is that, I've seen students getting as low as 0.1, 0.3 etc.
@@Enkaybe Most of them have very good WASSCE results and are very punctual & regular to lectures. Someone confided in me that her results were bought (I don't know how). Another told me that the answers were written on the board for them to copy 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Most have results from schools (mostly private) in the Ashanti & Bono areas.

If 80 - 100 is A, then if someone gets a score of 80 - 100 in all the semesters, they would get a 4.0 CGPA. A (80-100) is 4, B+(75 - 80) is 3.5, B(70 - 75) is 3.0 and it goes on. So the CGPA is calculated based on the credit hours of a course (3 or 2) and the total accumulated credit hours so far (Increases as you get to level 400). I speak on behalf of all tech students and Alumni that this guy deserves some lashes for that "celebrity comment"

@georgenkansah659 it means the credit hour for a course is most likely to be 2 or 3. Exceptional cases such as projects can be 6 credit hours. Assuming you are doing biology(2 credit hours) and chemistry(3 credit), And you score A in Biology and B+ in Chem. the calculation would be (2 × 4 + 3 × 3.5)/ accrued credit hours.

Don't mislead people KNUST uses the cumulative weighted average(CWA) which is quite different from the CGPA. In tech's system a person with 70% has same grade with someone with 90% but their CWA will be different
Technical Universities have the toughest grading system. A+, A, B+, B, C+, C, D+, and D. I am currently schooling at TTU and to achieve a first class division is not easy. You have to be getting 100-80 to achieve a first class and second class upper division. You can be getting 60 marks and you will be getting a CGPA of 1.5

Myself I choose to do Degree Midwifery in UG, but then I didn't get. They gave me BA Economics because I was good in maths. I had to go and do my midwifery in training college
But 1.0 accumulated gpa is low papa. Everyone should pass. Then 80-100 is A wow. Here in USA CGPA ranges from 2.7-4.0 to stay in the program and school and A is 93-100. 😢

You ghanaians have been booasting of better academic policies than Nigeria, but in Nigeria, CGPA less than 1.50 down places you on automatic withdrawal, less than 2.00 CGPA places you on probation . Its just a normal stuff in Nigeria.
Scanty is saying the truth 4.0 is not 100% through out and some schools uses NAPTEX system of grading and with that one u can get more than 4.0 it's abnormal GPA but on the cert it will be 4.0

I wonder why sheldon and some of you guys think people cant get As throughout their exams..As a student of ATU, our grading system is higher than legon and knust and with that people still get 4.8 and 4.9 ..they dont drop..i offer mechanical engineering and my cgpa is 4.2 and my friends make me feel like im not learning enough...some guys are brilliant .trust me...1.00 cgpa de3 you are not fit to be in the school...

Come to ATU Minimum CGPA is 1.5 before you can stay in the school and people might even pay their fees without refund cause they will have to pay before they can access the portal for their results 😅😅😅
Legon has been sacking such people already but I don't know what's different now though. Cos I know 2 people who were sacked based on their grades after our L100 in 2013
