She also makes overseas Chinese proud of their heritage, culture and their motherland. It's ok to be proud and represent your ancestry!! It's ok for minorities to be proud of ourselves, our roots and Homeland.
@@freetibet8140 Funny, isn't racist people like you doing so much racist acts against them to go back to China? There ya go, and now you screaming like a kid, a sore loser
@@johnnyw6467 she didn't "go back to china"; first she isn't from china, born and raised in the US. Second, she is still a US citizen who hasn't renounced her US citizenship and is going to go to Stanford University in the US. She will most likely live her entire life in the US. She doesn't want to live in China, she doesn't respect the Communist government of China, she is just using china to make money.
She is tied to Chinese culture. Now I understand why US Govt closed all Confiscius institutes. When you learn Chinese language and understand Chinese culture, you will dig in Chinese history to understand China. You won't judge China solely on what you read in Western media.
Eileen Gu is an inspiration for every young skater in China. It takes a tiny spark from her to flames the interests of the new generation on winter sports to comes alive in China. Well done.
@@paultsjan6047 The world knows about the fake news and Xinjiang "genocide," and USA sent athletes to Chinese games instead of military to stop genocide, don't you think that's funny? I can type a book, but that's a waste of time.
@@asianamericancasestudies6434 stop hating! Not everything has to do with politics. Her life choices have nothing to do with you. It’s easy to see that her heart is in the right place, unlike yours. She’s always spoken out about inequality since a very young age. Look it up! Skiing is only one of her many many talents. What have you contributed to society? You comments show that you’re full of hate and you’re just trolling.
You flatter Eileen. She is still too young. She does not repesents the best of both world. Let's see how she is going in the future. Bruce Lee represents the best of East and West.
@@larryvu9784 Yes. Any person can change in good ways or bad ways. We need to be vigilant. But now it’s time to celebrate the good values of peaceful coexistence she’s trying to foster.
Such a wise pretty head on young shoulders....she can teach the Senators who are anti China haters a lot in terms of embracing competition without violent aggression and hatred. Eileen Gu you've made a lot of overseas chinese so proud after the sufferrance violence hatred and abuse targeted at them in USA. God Bless you, Jiayo Eileen!!
She helps to teach the world that China's law is a joke and the dictatorship could use it anyway they want to. In this case, allowing dual nationality when it is explicitly forbidden in their laws.
Every year thousands of Americans renounced their citizenships. Today an estimated 30,000 Americans are waiting to renounce. Are these people traitors? It is her choice and right to renounce.
wow, amazing, highly accomplished, but her beauty isn’t the first thing that made her stand out to me. Her seemingly genuine care for creating a positive circumstance in the world was inspiring, most women are influenced to be selfish, and loyalist to even what is wrong, or wrong ideals, which i’m sure the influence has been there for her, but she moved toward the way things should become. china is moving towards good peaceful cooperation of countries, all benefiting. this seems to be her views as well. it’s not about if you got money, it’s if your a good person. more people need to focus on be a good person, defending themselves if they need too, and creating a beneficial circumstance for all people. great values is important, and she is definitely a good role models for all women, not just chinese.
No. She is insincere and dare not share on the special arrangements she has with the Chinese Government to have a double nationality so as to represent China.
When being asked by US media on the issue of Hong Kong, Xinjiang and human rights etc., Gu replied i come here to forge mutual understanding and solidarity but not to create divide. Good answers! And, i wonder why None of these Western journalists ask the American WH on this topic? They don't trust the WH or dare not ask them or? We all know why by now
lol, there is something seriously wrong with you people bringing up all the political propaganda BS to confront an 18-year-old athlete girl. No wonder more and more people change their minds from anti-China to defend China. So toxic.
Thanks you for the positive reporting of her achievements and even her decision to represent China. I think the fact that she grew up in US and was nurtured there for her talents, would also make impact not only for China but for US as well, inspiring many young girls to achieve more.
It's a win for America as well as China. If I was as talented as her I would probably make the same decision. China loves her more. If she was half India and half American, India would probably loves her more too.
Her 3rd attempt ski jump was the most exciting ever, such pressure and she crushed it. Her social media followers just doubled, so a lot of people are inspired by the “Snow Princess”, and millions love her
For those calling her a traitor think about this. The US has plenty of inspirational winter sports idols China doesn't. She could inspire a billion people which is great for the sports. And in a way an American would have done that.
She trained in the US, she is going to college in the US she has taken advantage of every opportunity America has given her and she threw it away to support another nation that around the time she was born in the US was enforcing baby girls to be aborted or snuffed out after birth.
@@CertifiedBullpupHater US didn't trained her but her coachs. she got accepted from Stanford University bc she earned. There are also many Chinese who trained in China competed for US, aren't there?
@@CertifiedBullpupHater and so? that is her life and her freedom... so everybody who change their nationality is a traitor? hahahahahah... people can have freedom but she can't? SELFISH!
Congratulations and well done Eileen! You're a breath of fresh air to watch and an inspiration for many future winter sports talents including non Chinese heritage people. Keep up the good work Eileen and looking forward to see you winning more medals. Jia Yu! xxx For those haters condemning Eileen, in case you don't know, Seamus O'Connor is also an American-born snowboarder from Ramona, Carlifornia. He competed for team IRELAND at the 2014 Winter Olympics and still doing the same in 2022! How come the western media hardly gave him any headline news attention??? C'mon guys pull up your socks, don't be brainwashed by the western anti China narrative. Come away from the hypocrite corner and be happy! Otherwise you can stay there and "Cry abt it..." Quote from Eileen.
Love her,, She did the right thing, spread more love across geopolitics and inspires more young people. Most young Chinese don't get exposed to winter sports like young people in many European countries.
@@godslove2944 You know how Americans control Nobel Peace Prize, right? Americans will only nominate whom Chinese government labeled as "terrorists," not those labeled as national heroes. That prize will be the furthest from actualization.
A talent like her...money is the least of her concern...she represents..China to send a message to chinese hating promoter..in USA...that she is for peace and unification..of people...
If any person who is at this level of greatness in their life is still a rational human being is the best person to be someone's hero or just someone to look up to.
Eileen Gu represents everything that the US once was. There are 300 million young Chinese wanting to be like Eileen ... and it's not just sports; it's academics, piano's and her global vision. I predict that China will lead the medal count in the winter Olympics of 2030 as a result of Eileen's influence. I also predict that she will be the President of the IOC inside 10 Year's.
Quite likely she will do well in the corporate political ladder. She did well in answering questions without answering. Quite a scary cunning figure who hides her current nationalities
She is half Chinese and half American. She is the right person through sport to inspire these two most powerful countries to work together to make our world a better place for everyone.
You know why Eileen chooses China. I am not speaking for her, but i am guessing there is no future for her in career prospect especially in high tech job. Chinese American are being looked at now with suspicions and there is a lot of anti Asian crime. In China, she would have plenty of job opportunities in any field and doesn't have to worry about being fired in her job. Safety maybe her primary reason.
@@CertifiedBullpupHater Are u a board member of Stanford University? Stanford wants Eileen more or she wants Stanford more, do u know? U lost ur mind. wake up D:D:
Eileen have so much weight on her shoulders, but continue to thrive and grow. Shes a true inspiration for all of us. Hopefully she will represent Team USA in an other game to make a win win for China and the US
This is the first clip in the western media that I have seen in which Eileen Gu is not being villianised for representing China rather than the US. Good for the presenters to give praise where it’s due
Absolutely! Both US and China (and the sports) win. US may not get Eileen's golds but soon US entrepreneurs will be in China with skiing products and services!
because of eileen gu, 300 million young chinese r beginning to PARTICIPATE in winter sports, for fun, how about that? were i a winter olympics official, to achieve such a goal, ie, getting more ppl interested in my sports, let alone 300 MILLION... well, it would have been an impossible dream come true !
Eileen Gu is an inspiration to all of us. She has accomplished a lot for a person her age (in sports, modelling, academia etc). All young people should adopt her as a role model. A person like Eileen comes once in a lifetime. She can contribute a lot to world peace. God bless you Eileen.
I feel her relationship with american father is not really good. Chinese people are more conservative and more into family than americans. Since her mother is chinese , she urged her daughter to represent china than usa. For sure father doesnt care about what country she will represent since eileen is always with her mum everywhere she goes.
Behold! Her meteoric rise in Big Air lines with peril. The fame and wealth tight-rope walk with evils. She earned her triumph by her perfect physical landing. Her young mind needs to inspire her character landing. Ephemeral glory not to hail; divine virtues always prevail.
This is what human being is supposed to be. People should work together to appriciate and share with each other to improve the whole world instead of creating so much hate by politicians.
Heard she made over $30M in over all incomes in past few years and she is only 18 yrs old. Very successful. Maybe that’s why you see so many media outlets and people talk trash about her because they feel so so jealous of her success…….
Just let her choose what country she likes to and wants to play for. She has the right to to that! By the way, she has been back to China every summer for her math training, and Also skiing training in BeiJing since 2019.
