Slate makes great processing stuff, and Fabrice is a modeling technology God. I'm in my 50's... when I grow up I wanna work for Slate... LOL. Seriously... the attention that Slate pays to the DETAILS of their modeling, being very particular about what they release to their consumers, is obvious - and what makes the difference in their plugs verses others I've used. ( I'd like to know how many beta versions of particular processors DIDN'T pass their criteria for quality and never made the final cut - if any - and why...) To be truthful, I do have other plugs/collections from other manufacturers that I've purchased over time, and there are some that I really do like - some for their character, others for their forensic-type tone sculpting ability; but when it comes to consistency in analog simulation, and processors that are "musical" sounding, I find myself reaching for the Slate VMR virtual "500 Series" modules almost exclusively these days. Two Question for Steven: 1. Can we look forward to any Pultec-style Equalizers (EQP1 / MEQ5 models) at some point? 2. Do you have any plans to add Samplitude ProX2 to the list of DAWS that are supported by the Raven system? ;)
Thanks team Slate Digital... Looking forward to using these modules though I am still getting over just how good the Blue Compressors are that dropped only a mere couple of days ago.
They're good Steve/Fabrice, BUT we've now had Revival, Lift and now the Eiosis. All similar solutions. I understand the nuances, but I would love some more varied tools in this time period.
+BuzzaB77 Lift, Eiosis, and Revival sound NOTHING alike! Totally different effects. A parallel analog filter, a harmonic enhancer, and a clean unique shelf filter. In fact I demonstrate how they COMPLIMENT each other in the video, check it out! Just like audio engineers have lots of compressors in their arsenal for different flavors, the same goes for frequency shapers! They are all unique! Thanks for the comment! - Steven
+SlateTV Ijust downloaded the new plugins and say this while they were downloading. First slate thanks for the amazing plugins and the amazing deal which bring me to this. Also for commenting on posts you guys are always talking with us and for a big company its a great thing .But back to the post i use lift and revival and have to say they are nothing alike and kind of work together when used together. but they are totally going for different things in totally different ways. Saying they are the same is like saying the guitar sounds like drums or something in my opinion. just my 2 cents can't wait to use new air and earth been waiting for ever and now they are here! and you just are coming out with A TON of new gear i can't wait to get my hands on. sorry for being a fanboy lol
I said I understand the differences, don't get me wrong I love all the Slate team's stuff. It's practically the only paidware I use now. What I mean is they are all top/bottom tools/shapers. The VCC, the Mic, the Pres are all tremendously unique tools that actually change the approach of a mix in a creative sense, but these days mixing professionally against the clock, I need inspiring & powerful tools that cover all different bases, You can have too many eqs and Compressors. Maybe if these had all been spaces apart a year each then maybe but I just know Slate have more truly game changing stuff up their sleeve and frankly these are covering too familiar ground for me thats all.
+BuzzaB77 I see where your coming from and it seems like they have coming out that will be common place and both are vmrs. Didn't mean to come across as prickish but lift works wonders for some of stuff I been working on and the Eqs comps pres very thing is amazing and I think they are going to be making even bigger moves upping the game with quality and affordable. Oh air and earth are pretty sweet just got done fooling with them in a session great stuff.
I kind of agree. Some more specialist type tools would be great like Sound Radix Pi for example. Handy tools that don't fall into the realm of EQ and compression.
Is it just me or does the GUI make these new modules look somehow closer than the old models? And also too clean.... will they start to display scratches and rack rash the more we use them ?!?
cool but u should try other genres of music like hip hop rnb acoustic edm ect...all u mix is rock and poprock in these videos ! live drums and guitars.... try smth with thin kick over a heavy deep 808 kick...or layers of synth sounds! these are the most worked genres these days on home studios where more of ur plug ins will be used from!
Wait what the fuck am I missing here? You have two of the same samples playing at the same time but no phasing happening? oO I'm missing something ridiculous here.
