Eiyuden Chronicles maybe the most important game for the JRPG Genre.

Well said! I kinda hate action-rpgs. It's not quite the same feeling than playing a turn-based RPG . Hope this helps establish we don't want the classic gameplay to go away.

I only collected 101 heroes in the first game. I couldn't figure out how to get the remaining 7 at the time XD

@MugenLord same here on my first playthrough of the different games. There were some insane requirements to unlock several of the heroes that you would never naturally know to do, like losing a war clash with a specific character to trigger a mentor/friend to come to the rescue. Some complicated characters practically required a guide to be able to recruit.

im guessing cute girls and tiddies is first on your list of jrpg priorities

This game is triggering all kinds of feelings when I was a young boy playing Suikoden. I'm happy to see the team back to give us something amazing.

Well I'm glad that it was for positive reasons that she had retired; I often imagined that Konami as they are sometimes known to be was just a traumatic work experience she hoped not to repeat. The boxart for the first game made no sense but that was gaming of the 90's lol.

@@MugenLord it looked like something from an RPG on SNES. I remember going to GameFAQs to learn how to find the 108 characters. These young bucks will never know the struggle LOL.

@@Gojemba Yea, both games were announced at the same time and the Prequel was said to release first. The same day it was revealed the gameplay was shown and instantly lost interest in the prequel lol.

@@MugenLord And who knows what comes after Eiyuden Chronicles' success? Maybe we'll have something more akin to a Xenogears spiritual successor of sorts with the same Lemmy tier storytelling from Soraya Saga and Tetsuya Takahashi.

I've been playing JRPGs since the Turbo Graphix and the SNES but it was Suikoden that really broke me into the genre full time. My library became mostly RPGs because of that game. The story had so much passion put into it. The story and it's characters made me fall in love with the JRPG genre. It had player choices and consequences, it had base building, and a strategy army unit combat system that can effect characters fate at the end of the game. Your party members can die in war and are permanently removed from the game. It was intense pressure as a boy at the time. So to hear and see that these developers are back and are creating a spiritual successor to Suikoden, sign me up!

I have no idea what you're trying to say with the "hard mode breaks menu based combat value." What is that supposed to mean?

@@ninototo1 The games doesn't promote grinding(training) and item collecting it promotes just using easy mode. Very few games do difficulty and menu based combat. Bravely Default has the option to change difficulty at any time, it was dumb but the story and characters were dumb too.

@@Stonegoal Huh, how does it promote using easy mode? I'm going to play on hard because I like a challenge. Difficulty settings offer more options for players to play the game the way they like it. Idk how that's supposed to be a bad thing.

@@ninototo1 If you like a challenge you should play ARPG, FPS, RTS platformers, etc.
