HP Umpire Chris Guccione ejected Mariners manager Scott Servais and Astros 1B Coach Omar Lopez for fighting and Astros pitcher Hector Neris and manager Dusty Baker for throwing at. Report: www.closecalls...
Umpires ejected Servais and Lopez for instigating a fight situation after Mariners batter Ty France was hit by a pitch from Neris with two outs in the 9th, resulting in a benches-clearing incident. Guccione's crew issued warnings to both teams following the benches-clearing event.
After Mariners batter Julio Rodriguez hit a two-run home run, JP Crawford walked and Eugenio Suarez took a first-pitch fastball up-and-in for ball one, resulting in Neris and Baker's ejections for intentionally throwing at an opponent after being warned. Replays indicate this wild pitch was located inside and above Suarez's head.

Props to the Gooch. Unlike what happened in the Astros' game the day before, this ump crew handled the scenarios as professionally as can be. The instigators were dealt with accordingly.

The instigators were the 3 astros coaches. Servais responded when they started yelling. It’s why they were suspended for a few games and Scott was only fined. MLB reviewed the incident and figured out exactly who started it. It wasn’t Scott.

On the broadcast you can hear them yelling something unintelligible before Servais starts yelling back. This isn't the first time the Astros have played dirty, nor the first time against Seattle. Hilariously though, both times Seattle players have taken them deep in demoralizing ways (Dylan Moore's grand slam last year)

I think they might have been yelling at the batter. Either saying telling him to stop saying it hit him or (what I think) thinking the batter was saying it was intentional and them saying to shut up and take the base not wanting their pitcher tossed.

Exactly. In hockey, you are responsible for your stick whether or not you intentionally commit a penalty. Baseball should be the same way. A pitcher is responsible for his pitches, regardless of his intent to throw around a batter's head.

Thats the issue though. The rules do not allow the umpires to remove a pitcher who is very wild and a danger to the batters. They are only allowed to eject if they deem it intentional.

In my opinion the HBP was intentional. Theres 2 outs in the top of the ninth down 1 and they throw one that almost goes behind him seems pretty clear its intentional and even if its not then get better and dont miss behind goes with one out to go in the game.

Absolutely absurd to believe that. A 1 run deficit is nothing for the Astros. They wouldn't risk making the game even more difficult for them over some petty bullshit. This was the beginning of a rough stretch for Neris, who was really unreliable out of the bullpen for several weeks.

Aside from a blowout, it is the lowest risk time in the game to ever hit someone intentionally (other than if you were going to intentionally walk a batter), and it just happens to be the last opportunity to hit someone in the game as well. Your comment is the absurd one. I guess no one has ever hit a batter intentionally since any hit batter would increase risk of losing the game, and no one would ever do that…..sarcasm..

I love how Julio Rodriguez tried to calm down Nerina and took him away. As much as I love the Astros I can agree, Nerina was a out control on his pitching and it’s dangerous. Even tho the Seattle fans hate the Astros for dumb reason… I honestly love The Mariners team, specially Julio and I know Houston actually likes the team too. @@1080p120hz Seranthony Dominguez and Brad Hand are doing well. The rest of the Phillies bullpen is wack. Phillies management and coaching were awful last decade and probably screwed up Neris here. I’m glad he’s doing better in Houston. He needed a fresh start elsewhere. He’s talented but not very bright. He couldn’t comprehend after a 3 minute explanation from the ump why headhunting got him ejected.

I watched all these games. Servais isn't a hothead. France gets hit a lot (30 times a year) but that was the worst this year and I've watched every game. The throw at Suarez looked exactly the same. It looked to be on purpose.

MLB could easily put a stop to all this...simply put in a rule like the NBA if you come out of the dugout or bullpen and on to the filed you are suspended for the next game. I'm guessing no MLB team want to play a game with their AAA and AA call ups and put them all on the roster for the day so this foolishness would stop.

Several MLB teams are wearing a version of these, they are called City Connect uniforms. They were designed with a theme that best represents the city for which the team plays for. The Astros will wear them for every Monday home game this season.

@@DCLover19 No he didn't do anything when Dusty got ejected after his pitcher threw at a players head he was gone from the game. Asking if someone got hit by a pitch which was what Scott first did is NOT instigating something. Scott asked that and the astro dugout started saying something they instigated or nobody from that team would have been ejected in the first set of ejections.

I believe that they should forgo umpires all together. Put the dugouts right next each other behind home plate, and give everyone battle axes. Then.. they won't have to walk as far to "clear the dugouts", and do nothing. After all, who wants to swing a battle axe, when you can't swing at the plate

why must every single player and coach get involved and get on the field and start fighting. in other sports the players and coaches stay on the sidelines, the referees handle it and its over in a minute the most. let them do the job while you stay on the bench
