I just today passed the eJPT exam, would like to thank you for the awesome content in this channel on eJPT . It was a super fun exam and would recommend everyone interested to take it. I had no knowledge/experience of any sort in security and could do it, so I guess anyone can too. Please keep the good work going in this channel, you are a gem John

Hey buddy, can you please clear out some doubts of mine, as I am really interested in buying this certification. Q1 - Does the normal eJPT certification voucher also come without the 3+ months of fundamentals? If yes, then does that voucher comes with all the necessary labs, courses, videos, etc?? Q2 - What are the differences between the Annual Fundamentals which is $199(comes with free eJPT and ICCA voucher) and the eJPT + 3 months of Fundamentals* which is $249? Please elaborate on this. Q3 - If I take the above Annual Fundamentals course, can I cancel the subscription whenever I want? also, can I cancel the subscription after I pass the certification, will it be still valid? Q4 - In the Fundamental Annual, if I cancel the subscription after I pass the eJPT certification, does the certification also get expire with the subscription? Or it will remain? Same question for the eJPT with 3+ moths Fundamentals plan also? Q5 - And also normally, does the certificate expire, like after 1 year or 3 years?

Buddy , I passed and Can tell you that this Certification is Way more better then any other beginner Cert in the market , in-terms of Pen-testing. | have also attempted CEH(Practical ) exam, long story short I didn't pass but at-least based on the ec-council exam VS EJPT, I would def recommend EJPT. I wish I knew this back then so I didn't have to waste a 1100$ on Ec-council.

John, I agree with you 100% on this. I'm personally eJPT certified and I'm a pentester myself. I took the exam twice and I was able to pass it after going back from Defcon last year. The exam per se was quite tough and you get to practice all the concepts you go through in the individual chapters lab, starting from lab 1 (adding a manual route). I warmly recommend eLearn Security certs, as I believe their material is more helpful than Offensive Security's and gives you more bang for your buck. The changes to the OSCP curriculum can change the game, though. So far I considered OSCP as more CTF-ish as a cert, especially for the limited amount of time you have to pass the exam. Hopefully, the curriculum refresh will make it more real-world. I do believe, anyway, experience is more valuable than certs, even though I need certs to up my game.

@_JohnHammond
@_JohnHammond 4 года назад
Hey western vibes, thanks for watching! The jobs that I have applied for have not required a masters degree, admittedly I have not gone for mine yet. I think some jobs may ask for it, but they may be more high-level or managerial (which may or may not be your interest). Bachelors is typically asked for, though often I have seen it waived (not absolutely necessary). Most of the time, the certifications really really help -- they prove your real technical skill (usually). Depending on the place, some do not care about the degree one way or the other. But obviously, anything you can get on the resume does help!

Thanks for the detailed overview and opinion on the PTS! As a CCNA/CMNA… Would the ePTS>PTP track be too redundant? I didn’t realize PTP had such an emphasis on Ruby, as opposed to Python, but unsure if it matters being they’re both general-purpose… I was jumping into the OSCP, but opting on using eLearn as a primer before taking on that adventure. It sounds like ePTP is gaining some steam on OSCP in 2020.

I REALLY like eLearnSecurity. Eager to dive into the Blue Team materials, but I feel like I need to do my due diligence and go through the Red Team first!
@Topherelius

@@_JohnHammond I can understand that for sure! I'm in a SOC right now and wouldn't mind going more purple team. It would behoove me to hit more blue team resources as my main focus and use leisure time to learn more red team skills. Hope you have a great adventure on your learning quest! =)

Is this course for someone that literally has no IT experience? I’m desperately trying to make a career change but I have zero IT experience and I want to start at the bottom and work my way up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your informative video! Does the eCPPT via INE prepare you to be an entry-level SOC analyst? Do I need a "super laptop/PC" to complete this coursework? If you needed a budget computer, which specifications are most important?

I was thinking at beginning some course of pen tensting, but as a 17 year old it ain't easy to find free resources. But after come consideration, I might take the Elite one after I earn some money and since they say the promotion is till 2025, I might be able to catch it. Also, thanks for the introduction :D

Hello mate, great content, I have been watching a lot of your videos but I feel lost, what would you recommend for a beginner as the first step for self-study? without getting stuck in follow along hell, where following a tutorial seems good but when trying to solve a problem or write a line of code on my own is just drawing blanks. thanks again it is great to watch your videos

Depends on your skill level, but this course sounds like a great starting point! You can also learn by practice with CTFs (Capture the Flag) online. The Bandit CTF on OverTheWire is a great beginner CTF which will get you familiar with the Linux terminal. HackTheBox.eu is also a great ressource, but make sure you do the labs in a virtual machine for security purposes :) Hope this helps, good luck!

I appreciate your enthusiasm and input! What are your thoughts on CompTIA PenTest+ ? I BARELY failed it back in February and have been dreading attempting it again. (I have a background in IT, network/sys admin role, but not a heavy security background). What are your thoughts on the eJPT as a comparison? Obviously the eJPT sounds more hands on - I will say the PenTest+ was more difficult than I expected.

Was waiting for his answer. I took it failed the first time, then studied hard for 7 days more after 3 months and passed second time up 9 points pass the required score. Test is freaking a monster.
