Fair comment, but I think you have overlooked the key aspect of the Siege - that it is demountable. Inevitably, therefore, it has to compromise between form and function in a way that traditional crossbows do not. Bear in mind, too, that it is widely sold in places where gun laws are very, very restrictive. Even having a weapon specifically for self defence in your own home is illegal in many, many places outside North America, a fact which would probably astonish most Americans. Hunting with crossbows or bows is also completely illegal almost everywhere else, too, so it is often bought strictly as a target shooter. Comparisons with the Excaliber are therefore probably irrelevant for its main market; it would be better to consider it alongside the Supersonic range, for example, and it manages to achieve a good level or power with a great deal of practicality in maintenance, which again I think would have been worth considering. Essentially, I think EKA were trying to create recurve practicality with a compound front end, not a top hunting bow.
Fair point. I feel air bows and fma supersonic should get a mention. I hadn't, as I have not gotten hands on with either of those. I should. Also, should have at least mentioned them. I do plan on a follow up, I will be sure to do that. Thank you, for the feedback.
I afraid I have not been looking into magazine fed Xbows of late. Fma has some interesting compact options and people have made magazines for them, but I have not gotten my hands on to test. beyond that the is the Water Swatters channel hes has done some good work check him out , or of course Jorge sprave of the slingshot channel, he usually has something cooking. All I got at the moment.
Can you evaluate the accuracy more? When the bow is in good condition, can it compete in terms of accuracy at 40 yards with the best out there? What are the groups like a 40 yards?
@@Make_Boxing_Great_Again I would not say it would compete with the best at that range, granted the best is a high bar. I would trust it to hit a raccoon, but not a squirrel at that range.
I own a Cobra Adder (which is a pretty honest repeating crossbow) and a Siege 300. I was really excited when I got the Siege, but the limbs shattered on the second shot. Later I heard from the store that I should ease in the limbs with low power shots before I shot on maximum power. I then got a new set of limbs and wrapped them up with string and epoxy so they would be less prone to shattering. I have not reached the maximum power setting yet, but so far so good, although I will be always afraid of the limbs breaking. In my opinion that´s not acceptable on such a high price product, specially when they sell it as "tactic". If you have a couple of recommendations on better repeating crossbows I would like to hear. Thanks!
Shattered limbs, on second shot, that is unfortunate. All I can tell you is using heavy ammunition, slows the limbs a bit and helps with limb longevity. (Less shock when shot). I have not used any other small for factor crossbows so can not comment directly. However, the fma super sonic looks promising, look those up, might be what you are looking for.
@@bokkenwielderful thanks, will increase the bolt weight (although I used the one recommended by the manufacturer). I have also heard some bad comments on the supersonic, but I will give it a check.
Can you do a review of the X-Bow FMA Supersonic Rev? I would like to hear your opinion on that because you did bring some factors up on the Siege that nobody really talked about.
I have not gotten one in hand yet, I would have done a comparison otherwise. I recommend "The water swatters" channel he has done a lot, including hunting deer, with the FMA Supersonic Xbows. Based on his work they look pretty good. If I get one I will do an update.
Manfrotto, a fairly typical desktop tripod . One needs a camera tripod to picatinny adapter to make it work. this: www.amazon.com/NICEYRIG-Release-Friction-Ballhead-Monitor/dp/B08RDS46TP/ref=sr_1_18_sspa?crid=1NYD5DJ9UAFUT&keywords=nato+rail+tripod+mount&qid=1690158987&sprefix=nato+rail+tripod+mount%2Cstripbooks%2C274&sr=8-18-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGZfbmV4dA&psc=1 or something like that should make most desktop tripods mountable. Hope that is useful.
I made that from a folding stock adaptor, (UTG brand as I recall) and a Taccom ultra light angled stock. There was some cutting drilling and tapping involved but anyone with hand tool experience could do it. I mention it in the cheap shot review and show a closer look.
yeah, for one third the price, picked up a barnett xp 385 with a built in crank from cabellas with a triggeryech trigger from factory .weighs 6 lbs, not front heavy at all and 385 fps with a 400 grain real arrow.. ive owned the ek archery adder and tried out the sierge..sold my adder and passed on the seige. bought a umarex co2 javelin which is beter then an adder at 1/4 the price also. ek archery makes cool stuff, but are way too pricey for what performance you receive.. i also picked up a umarex air saber that makes 170 plus kn and lightyears more accurate then a seige for about tghe same ching. so many better options out there for the money. muzzle loading a arrow and pulling back on the bolt action isnt really significantly slower with practice then cocking and re-aiming a siege.
All this may or may not be true, its an opinion. My opinion with permanent should pain is there isn't a better option out there that is simpler to cock than the siege. You can crank and pull ropes all you want, neither will ever replace the siege system. As far as accuracy, it will take a deer at 50+ yds. which is more than far enough to be shooting any bow configuration. And lastly, the siege cocking system is hands down the best chance of a second shot from any treestand. Fast and quiet. Haters will hate, but for the money, and in my opinion, there just isn't anything better for the price for hunting deer, handicaped or not. PCP archery?????? Why not pay someone to shoot you a deer. Crossbows are pathetic enough for " Archery hunting " but now some want to use a air rifle to send an arrow? Sometimes making it easier just makes you look like a girl!!!!
@@j.sutter350 the air saber embarasses the siege in every possible performance category. use your gimmick if you like , but the sabers half the price with double the power.the siege is a nice little toy for girls ./ 50 yards huh? sure it will buddy.your clueless.
Typical, predictable, childish response. Calling me names? Ouch,, really got me except I'm not 8 years old. I clearly stated it was my opinion, it triggered you into an uncontrolable rage of hatred fueling your drueling response/opinion. I stand with my factual comment and you can go again if you need to, but it changes nothing in the end. Best of luck with your plastic saber for " half the price with double the power " LMAOIYF!!!!!!!!!!@@TheIntegraman
@@bokkenwielderful i came to say the same. its main appeal is for countries outside america where gun laws are strict . i think your missing the mark entirely trying to compare a crossbow designed to shoot fast to one designed to shoot accurate. might explain the 12years and 600 subs.
@@Bowbro69 I found out about the appeal of crossbows in gun restricted areas soon after posting on the same. Let me meet you half way on the next point. The siege will shoot faster than most X-bows, the adder will shoot faster or at least more easily. A lot more people can be found speed shooting the adder than siege. Even Joerge seems to prefer the adder for speed demos. The siege gets pulled out to demo more power. Should I get stronger? Yes. For the Last point, I make what I like to do. If 600 people are the total that also like what I do, that is my lot and I am content.
