For anyone wondering I think Manto wanted to say that people hated that the British Raj for dividing white and coloured people because it was racist and colourist but people (here Randeer) themselves did the same. They slept with dark-skinned women because they liked them sexually. However, when it came to marriage they preferred light-skinned women who belonged to influential families (Here his wife) for more status in the society. So, they contributed in racism and colourism.

Classic masterpiece by Manto. He is master of expression, be it love lust or hatred. Beautifully described the two girls, "Ghatan" and wife. Looking at the comment thread, I feel like still people are far from Manto's level. They can't digest what he is saying as they don't understand him completely.

Every person see things from his/her own perception. If i elaborate, it will be my version. Would you be okay listening my version? If NO, then i should not elaborate, but if you are okay, then it means, Manto is not meant for you. You better read someone else's story. The best part of Manto's story is, he is never ever judgmental and he leaves story in a limbo. Now its readers turn to understand him.

I love Manto.I read many Manto stories including "Khol do","ALLAH Rakha","Khali Shalwar","Thanda Ghost" and much more.I understand what Manto is trying to saying in this Afsana but i want to reconfirm from someone who also read this Afsana. Yes you can tell me your version.It is true people are very far from Manto's perspective and people didn't get what he trying to convey,a bitter realities of life.Sex is a subplot in Mato's stories and people get indulge in it and forgetting the main plot,what he is trying to tell.
